Character Bio:

Born in 2380 in England, planet Earth; Shakeel has always been fascinated by the history of Starfleet and decided to join the Academy after spending his teenage years lacking some purpose. The stories of Federation icons became the inspiration he needed, as well as time spent at the Fleet Museum; marvelling at the ships of old.

He was the first of his family to apply for the Academy and wanted to do his family proud, feeling he had something to prove as his older siblings held prestigious jobs in the sciences. Due to his family and their influence on him, Shakeel has a knack for some science and engineering but his main focus was security and tactics. He would sometimes be brash, confident and "gung-ho" but he would always get results. If it comes down to a fist-fight, Shakeel does his best to not get riled up but he does have an explosive strength when angered. He has mastered the arts of several Earth-based martial arts and is training in Suus Mahna as well the Mok'bara.

However, in 2399 his mother unfortunately caught Rigellian fever after her shuttle crash landed on an inhospitable moon in the region. This supposed vacation led to her death and massively impacted on Shakeel physically and mentally. He also became estranged from his father at the same time. Despite this, Shakeel managed to complete his time at the Academy with glowing recommendations, he has the potential to do well in Starfleet if he can find a solid first posting that will let him rediscover the best of himself.

Before his mothers passing, Shakeel was a confident, funny young man with a keen mind, a sharp memory and a way of balancing the pro's and cons of a situation. He is of average height and average build, but has kept himself in reasonable shape with continuous martial arts training and spends some time rock climbing like one of his hero's, Captain James T Kirk. He keeps his dark hair short, so it can't be used against him in hand to hand combat, and due to having developed poor eyesight in his younger years, he has a continuous prescription of Retinax 5.
