Character Details

Character Name: Kataxes
Character Age: 26
Character DOB: Stardate 53344.5
Character Image:

Character Species: Tholian
Gender: Nonbinary
Character Family:
Parent: Lexas - Alive
Parent: Raxis - Alive
Younger Sibling: Lezaros - Alive
Character Bio:
Kataxes was born in the Tholian Assembly, the child of a diplomat and a scientist. They were an intelligent and curious young Tholian, and spent much of their early days in the academics of the Assembly. Tensions between the Tholian Assembly and the wider quadrant were always high, but with neutrality in the Dominion War brought some alleviation. Enough, at least, for Kataxes's parent Lexas to become an official observer and ambassador to the Federation. Kataxes instead joined the Assembly's Navy as an officer, hoping to be part of the Assembly's future efforts towards exploring the galaxy. Lexas, and other Tholian diplomats, began talks with the Federation on a cultural exchange program to bring officers from either side over to one another as the very first steps towards possible non-aggression between both expanding nations.

Kataxes, of course, volunteered, even if they hadn't pictured that for their life. Seeking adventure among strange aliens was somehow, to them, even more thrilling of a concept. Their time in the Assembly's Navy left them strongly disciplined, with an intense respect for hierarchy and professionalism, that they hope to bring to Starfleet. Both for their own pride, and to prove Tholians a capable and diplomatic people.

In that 15 years I've also written short stories, played in freeform Discord/Skype roleplay servers, GM'ed many games, and written longform roleplay on RPGuild.

Thunk. Thunk. Thunk.

Kataxes walked slowly down the white halls of the brightly lit Starfleet Academy, feeling the eyes of everyone they passed. Sunlight passed through the windows of the hallway, as well as the window of their suit, reflecting off of their red carapace. Their suit was a dark grey-silver technological marvel, a six-legged pod of sharp angles and polished dark metal with a clear window that revealed their crystalline body within. Here, in the light of Earth's sun, the heat could almost feel natural. A fraction of the light that once refracted through their carapace, but a good start. They hesitated, looking through both windows to the greenery of the enormous campus. The only thing that felt remotely familiar was the towering red construction, held by wires they could almost imagine as webbing. A bridge, they understood, but the name they couldn't quite remember.

Slowly, Kataxes managed to pull away from the sight, their legs easily spinning them back towards the long hallway. It was only the badge on their suit, and the bright blue line of lights across their suit's torso like a uniform's color band, that made them feel at all welcomed here. Yet, for all the eyes, there were plenty of smiles. Something they could not replicate without radiation.

Every time, without meaning to, the suit would detect the surge of Kataxes's radiation and, in a polite, tinny female voice, state,

"Smile."

Kataxes would watch a bit of confusion pass by, then the smiles grow, most of the time. Now, it was time for their class, and they couldn't dawdle any longer. The metal around their legs slowed them down, so they continued to thunk their way down the hall, approaching the training room. Somehow, there was always a special seat for them already waiting, even if they knew that wouldn't always be the case.

"Smile."

Additional information: I'm more than happy to discuss further details about the Tholian Assembly, and Kataxes's backstory, based on whatever the fanon of this forum has for the fairly vague species!! I love them.

I'm impressed by your application.

For your backstory... your time at the Academy is more to access your skills prior to assignment, they won't have had to go through 4 years of training.

That being said, one of our instructors will contact you here with a link to your Academy Training Course thread.

Once more, welcome to Shadow Fleet.
