Space Station Katra
A Safe Haven in a New Frontier[/color]

Katra Station is set in the gamma quadrant.  Specifically in the Trialus Sector.  It was commissioned in 2396.

It is a frontier class modular style station.  As a modular style station it was brought in pieces threw the Bajoran wormhole.  Then assembled on the Gamma quadrant side.

It was originally located in orbit of the planet Meridian in the Trialus sector.  That was about 7 days travel from DS9 at Warp 8.  During season 3 mission 5:  The Big Snake in the Night Sky the crew was asked to relocate the Katra https://www.shadowfleet.org/forum/katra-station/the-big-snake-of-the-night-sky/.

During the following mission, the station was moved in front of the Trialus sun between it and the wormhole as the snake was appearing and Meridian crumbled to dust and disappeared into the anomaly from which the snake came.

In any case, Katra is a popular waystation for species from other quadrants and the 1st port of call for Gamma quadrant species interested in trade or travel into Federation space.   Though Katra is somewhat small, it still provides the best amenities in the sector.  As well as a source of energy that it collects from the Trialus sun.

EMERGENCY SYSTEMS:
Escape Pods: 300 lifeboats are available to supplement the shuttlecraft embarked. Each pod can support a maximum of 8 souls for 8 months.

Lifepods can link up in 'gaggle' mode.  The can also share resources to last longer. They are in the shape of a triagle,5.6 meters high and 6.2 meters long.

Warp Core Ejection: It is designed to eject the warp core in the event of a warp core breach in order to prevent the destruction of the station.

Emergency Bulkheads: Each section of the station can be isolated from the others on its own life support. Each section can be jettisoned in case of emergency and using the RCS system can be rapidly cleared from the rest of the station.
