One on One (Eydis and Zex)

[Eydis]

Out of the fog another massive beast of steel emerges some 100 yards off the stern of the German battleship the Bismarck and behind it the prinz eugen. The Roman soldiers were now all on the palisade walls. Flashes of bright metal as gladius hack and stab at the howling nightmares trying to ascend the walls. The arrows that zex had fired were finding the mark with each loose of her bow. The arrows whistling through the cold nights air, eventually slamming into the werewolves. Eydis would stand before zex and stab down at the werewolf trying to scale the palisade wall. Allowing zex to focus on delivering more arrows to slow down or possible kill the beasts.

But even riddle with arrows and stabbed the werewolves did not show much signs of slowing a few would fall from head wounds but other wounds only seemed to knock the foul creature down for a second. The din and clatter of battle filled the nights air. Screams of Roman soldiers being pulled from the palisades. The snarling beasts at the wall and the sounds of the whimpers as they were struck from the walls with swords and spears and arrows.

Then a thunderous crack washes over the fort yet it was a clear night. Then I rapid succession the thunderous claps came. All the soldiers even the werewolves paused. In the distance were the two German warships lay there main guns having just been fired. Whistling could be heard seconds before shells began to slam into the earth and trees just a hundred yards from the fort itself. The forest that had concealed so many dark monstrous shapes was now exploding. The werewolves were now scrambling around no longer interested in scaling the palisade. In a few minutes another volley of German naval guns would occur. There was now few of anything moving alive in the ruined forest. Fires now spread out illuminating the carnage wrought by those steel beasts in the ocean.

Zex too paused when then loud cracks occurred.  But only for a moment.  It seemed that the carvery was on the way.

"St. Hubert must be looking out for us.  I'll have to find a way to pay tribute to him.  When this is over" Zex called out to Eydis.

Then for some reason she 'felt' something behind her.  She turned to find herself nose to snout with the enemy.  "My what big teeth you have" she muttered before firing an arrow into it.

"They are coming from everywhere" she said.   Now back to back with Eydis.  "I have your 6" she called out as she notched her next arrow.
