Jada

[Blue Belles]

Waiting for and not catching a response from Beja to her teasing remark, Jada abandoned that tactic and fell as quiet as the Klingon, eating and drinking moderately while she watched the others talk and joke with distant amusement. She wasn't good at this sort of thing, but she gave it a go. After the last question, Jada realised 'Is it my turn? Okay, what's next... "What is the Groom's middle name?" Oh, gods, does he even have one? I can make up one or two for him, but... Pass.' she gave up with a shrug, not having a clue, and took a drink.

While she waited on Beja, Saqa7 gnawed on her lip.   She should know this.  She had access to his Medical file when she was Acting CMO that first month on station.  She'd seen his name... and even remarked to herself how odd a name it was because it was the name of a city.  But it was close to a year ago since she's last had a look at his medical file. "Damn I can't remember....except that it's a Romulan city.  It's part of their culture to name their children by the location of where they were born.  Anyone know any Romulan city names?  I might remember if I hear it." Saqa7 suggested, but took a swallow her beer anyways.

Jayce shook their head.  "You're drinking out of turn there Saqa7... the pass goes to Beja then you then me.  But don't worry I've got this covered. I know his name."  Fuller also had access to the Commander's medical file, so hopefully it didn't seem too odd or stalker-ish that they knew the Commander's middle name.   Jayce looked towards the counselor.   The Klingon being the Commander's counselor would DEFINITELY have access to the Commander's file - and quite recently.  The question was ... had she ever bothered to read what his middle name was?

The next question was rather hard, Tess thought, and she suspected that none of them would know it offhand - maybe Saqa7 would. So it was no surprise to Tess that Jada had to pass that question - but not without remarking she could make up one or two for him. At that, Tess laughed. "Really?", she chuckled, looking at the Orion curiously. "Care to share your ideas with us?"

She noted Saqa7 gnawing at her lower lip, apparently the answer was on the tip of her tongue. But it was Beja's turn after Jada had passed the question. Hearing Jayce say they knew the answer made Tess look at her surprised, but then she realized it shouldn't surprise her that much, since she knew the hermaphrodite had a crush on her future husband.

"It's not so easy, that one", she said, eating another of the cake bites. ,,Ki Baratan was the capital city. Mh ... that was it. I realize I probably should read more about Romulan geography", she chuckled.

Katra Station - Promenade - Blue Belles

Beja nodded over to Jada when she had inquired about the sausage, "Yes, he had the best food being served and offered up to us." Not at all getting the "sexual innuendo" of the question that had been asked of her. She wasn't much of a sweets person, and the meat and cheeses being offered by the cowboy did appear to be the best out of all the food being served. Beja would try all of it, not just to be polite, but also she was always willing to try new things foodwise. A person could learn a lot about other cultures by their food offerings. It was always good to expand one's horizons.

Beja did her best to follow the instructions of the first game being played. It appeared to be simple, they had to ask one of the already preset questions, and attempt to answer them. Drink if they didn't know the answer. She wasn't surprised to realize she didn't know any of the answers to any of the preset questions. She was fairly new to Katra, and was still in the process of getting to know the crew. That was why she had been rather pleased to have been invited to the party. She really looked forward to getting to know Tess and the others better. She was still trying to find a place to fit in, and hopefully make some friends. People she would call her tribe as some humans liked to describe it. She was normally the one who never fit in, maybe Katra would be the place that Beja could change that.

It was her turn to ask     a question, Beja picked the only one left that she might have a chance of answering, "Alright, since it's my turn. I will pick children. I will say yes, they want children. And I will say Tess wants 2, a boy and a girl. Am I right?"

Beja smiled over to Tess for the confirmation of being wrong. She was prepared to take her drink of the odd Klingon shot being offered up.

When Beja seemed to pass on the middle name question and skip ahead to another question entirely, Jayce grinned.  Were they the only one who had paid attention to things like middle names?
They looked to Tess at a Beja's suggestion that yes the couple wanted children.  Jayce thought that was a 'no brainer' given the Commander's Numati fantasy.  It still irked them somewhat that they hadn't been included as part of the Commander's fantasy.  He obviously viewed them as more male than female, which wasn't physically true.

Shaking the thought aside, they waited for Tess' confirmation of the number of children she was hoping for.

Then before Saqa7 could move on to the next question, Jayce spoke up.  "His middle name is ir'I'Ramnau.  From what I know it was a city on the outskirts of the capital. Mostly rural countryside."

Since they had already answered their question, Jayce turned to look to Saqa7 as they motioned Temptation back with her tray fruit, selecting out a piece of pineapple to eat.  "It's back to you, Saqa7."

Saqa7, who had been swaying to the background music and moving about the room to sample foods from all the trays, looked over. "My turn again?  Okay! Let's see..  Ooh preferences...  This is not any easy question."  The native woman looked over to Tess, pondering.  "You seem so demure most of the time... but I think that hides a reckless and wild side to you that - let's admit it - Romulan's are notorious for.  So yeah, Hot Passion it is.  I dare you tell me I'm wrong."  She grinned towards her friend.

Tess wasn't surprised that Jayce knew Rayek's middle name. She knew of her secret adoration of the Romulan Commnder. Memorizing such things was only natural, she thought. That she also knew though what the name was, a city name, that did surprise Tess after all. "Didn't think you would know that too", Tess grinned to them.

It was Saqa7's turn once more and now they reached the juicy questions. Tess held her friend's gaze when she looked at her, pondering. She couldn't help but grin in anticipation what Saqa7 would reply. When the native woman described her as 'demure' Tess laughed self-consciously. It was always interesting to learn how others saw you.

The Ba'ku grinned back at Saqa7 when she dared her telling her wrong after she picked the attribute 'Hot passion' for her preference. Tess couldn't help but feel her cheeks heat up slightly, nodding. "Soft Romance is nice once in a while ... but I clearly much rather go with the other option, yeah", she grinned and took another sip of the beer. "I can't have Rayek becoming bored, can I", she chuckled.

Antonia looked up. "It's my turn right?" She glanced at the list the holo porjector showed on the table in front of them. "Alright, now we gotta find out Rayek's preference. Good that I don't know him at all", she laughed. "But I know Tess. And I know what kind of guys she likes." The woman looked at her friend, narrowing her eyes with a grin. "I'd go for dominate. I don't think you ever fancied subservient guys who hadn't a will of their own."

Tess had picked up one of the cake bites and was munchin on it while she listened to her friend's reply. She wasn't sure if they all assumed the question referred to sexual preferences or general behaviour and she also didn't know what the others would think if she agreed to Antonia's assessment of Rayek being the dominate kind. To her the first matched better than the latter. "Hard to generalize but I'd say that's pretty apt." Picking up her glass she cheered to the others and emptied her beer.

Jada

[Blue Belles]

At Tess's confirmation, Jada sighed, loudly and obviously. 'Well, there goes that vision of Tess in black leather and cracking a whip.' she lamented, before grinning at the joke. But then she leaned closer, confiding quietly, but not so quietly the others couldn't hear, 'A woman should always take the lead, Tess, and not be afraid put a man in his place. A man likes to be swept off his feet and controlled by a strong woman. Just let him think he's in charge, not actually be in charge. Then she can't go wrong.' she advised, with the wisdom of Orion women.

Leaning back, she checked who was next and read the next question. 'Me again? "Where are the Bride and Groom going on their honeymoon?" Why do I get the dull ones? What is a "honeymoon" anyway?' Jada had to think about this one, aloud. 'Okay, everyone does Risa, so I'm not going to say Risa. How about Rigel? Andoria? Okay, I'm not going to get this anyway, so, on behalf of the good people of Holcomb's Planet who welcomed my displaced clan, I recommend you go to Holcomb's Planet, a.k.a. Dilyut V. It has a tropical climate, long stretches of private beaches, pristine waters, good fishing, beautiful rainforest walks, without being all touristy...' she gave her sales pitch. Well, Jada had described her preferred honeymoon. She started to get misty eyed. She looked back on the place fondly now, but when they'd settled all those years ago, she hadn't wanted to stay, with it being too close and too far from her beloved Thiratin jungles and her being too restless from the horrors of the War. But now, she came to realise it could've been a fine home if she'd given it a chance. She still could.

Beja

Katra Station - Promenade - Blue Belles

Beja clearly had been wrong, and she hadn't any idea how this game actually worked. She had thought she had the rules down, but she obviously hadn't. Where they all supposed to try and answer the same question and then Tess answered it? But where did the drinking come in from? If they were all wrong they took a drink? Only those that guessed incorrectly took a drink? When did Tess drink? These rules were not at all intuitive at all. This was a bit more confusing than she had originally thought it would be. She probably should have researched it more before the party, but she hadn't really thought there would be games. It all showed her how she really needed to brush up on other cultures more.

Though Beja had been happy to know that she wasn't totally clueless, she had guessed the 2 children correctly. What she didn't really want to think about was what either Tess or Rayek enjoyed in the bedroom. As the old human saying went, that was a bridge too far. Such things should be kept private, and between the two people involved. Beja hadn't ever thought of herself as a prude. Yet, this party with its overt celebrations of the naked body and telling of bedroom activities highlighted that she might have been mistaken about that. Maybe she was a prude, it just wasn't so discussed so openly, and in such a public setting before. Another thing she could learn from other cultures.

Beja wished she had brought her PAD, and could take notes, though that might be strange to the others. Maybe that was a good thing she had left it in her quarters. She was sure the others thought her to be odd, she didn't need to enforce that even more. Her goal was to fit in, not stand out.

Beja just took several drinks, thinking that was the safest way to fit in and look like she understood what was going on, when she hadn't a clue. When it came back to Jada, and the question of a honeymoon. She couldn't help but ask as well.

"No really, what is a honeymoon? Is this something done at the wedding? This is not known in the Klingon culture. Does this involve weapons and fighting? Or... are there bees?" Beja asked, curious to know more about this part of the wedding traditions.

Tess tLhoell

[Katra Station - Blue Belles]

Tess lips curled into a wide grin as Jada made the joke about the particular vision of Tess in the role of a certain type that would wear leather and possess a whip. The grin made space for an actual chuckle as Jada went on to give her good advice. "I will heed your words. That vision might want to be tried out once in a while. We've got a lot of time ahead of us to try stuff out." That Tess was talking about this so readily surely was due to the amount of alcohol she had consumed in the short time.

She then listened to Jada as she told them of a place called Holcomb's Planet to suggest Tess and Rayek having their honeymoon there. What she told them of that place sounded absolutely beautiful. "Well, to be fair, Rayek and I haven't decided yet where to go for our honeymoon. We actually considered to just go down on Meridian because we already will be away for two months for the wedding only. I'm not sure we can add another week or two to that." She bit her lip as she turned the small empty shot glass in her hand. "But I will take your guesses as suggestions, Jada. Holcomb's planet sounds stunning!"
She watched the Orion woman, noticing that her eyes got misty. Did she miss the place? "Have you lived there once, Jada?", Tess asked.

When Beja asked what a honeymoon was, Tess chuckled when the Klingon suggested it had something to do with bees. "It basically is a kind of vacation the newly wed couple goes on to spend their first weeks of domestic life together alone and enjoy them." She looked to the Klingon counselor. "Is there really nothing like that in Klingon culture?"

Despite Tess' request to have Jada to divulge her thoughts on the Romulan, Saqa7 was glad when the Orion ignored the request and the game continued on.

Hearing that Tess and Rayek wanted children - at least two- prompted a smile. Tess would be an amazing mother.  Saqa7 had thought about children but it had never seemed the right time for her and Jureena to look into the procedure.

Her own question asked... she wasn't surprised that Tess chose hot passion.  She grinned as Tess drank more.

Antonia's question was next and Saqa7 grinned at hearing that Rayek's preference.

"Well, maybe because it's not just them now... Its' gonna be the entire wedding party that would be delayed, if they stay an extra week." Saqa7 commented before realizing that maybe that wasn't such a great topic of conversation.

"So who was next and with what question?" She glanced to her list.  "Jayce or Beja... one of you are next.  Do either of you know the names of Tess' siblings?"

Jayce glanced at the list of questions. The next two were similar... one asking about Tess siblings and the other about Rayek's siblings.  Jayce wasn't sure they should have added that question to the list.  They had heard rumor of the Commander having lost his family with the destruction of Romulus.  As such, they found the question a bit inappropriate.  It was good that Rayek wasn't around to hear it.

Beja

Katra Station - Promenade - Blue Belles

Beja listened intently while Tess explained how a honeymoon worked, and sadly no bees were involved at all. What a funny name to call a vacation, her linguistic interests made her make a mental note to look that up later. There had to be some kind of history to the name. Though it was not just the name that was odd, it was the concept as well. A vacation for newly married people, something she hadn't ever heard of before. In Klingon culture, their greatest and most romantic wedding story followed the nuptials with intense combat.

When Tess asked her if there was anything similar that the Klingons did, Beja shook her head, "No, there is no such thing that Klingons do. This is the first I've heard of such a vacation as this before. There are several different types of wedding rituals that Klingons can do, but nothing after it, such as this honeymoon."

"Hmm, perhaps with all of the broken bones that take place during the wedding and mating rituals there perhaps is value in this honeymoon that Klingons should embrace," Beja mused out loud to the group. She wasn't sure, but it was still a quirky concept to her that she found rather fascinating. Another new thing she has learned about other cultures.

Beja had gotten so distracted by the new concept, that she almost missed the question game. "Is there another sibling other than Benjin? If so, I am afraid I do not know their names."

She watched the Orion woman, noticing that her eyes got misty. Did she miss the place? "Have you lived there once, Jada?", Tess asked.

At the question, Jada stirred from her introspection, saying 'Uh, yeah, when we first settled there as refugees, after leaving Thirat. I was still a teenager then. We built our own village out in the rainforest, rather than move into the existing Orion Colony in Orlando. More space for us all. The others got to work. But I couldn't sit still, not after the War, I enlisted in Starfleet as soon as I finished remedial education and learned to speak Federation Standard.' She glanced briefly at Beja to see if the would-be counsellor was paying attention. Jada didn't mind sharing about herself, but the nice, polite interrogation style of a counsellor didn't help her relax. She wanted an exchange between friends. But she hadn't been able to get Beja to share of herself either, and lately hadn't had the chance to try again. She was still thinking of arranging another session, and concocting another excuse to get Beja away from the office. One day...

She waved over Romeo and took a fistful of crackers and a complicated selection of dips. 'Anyway, if it's Meridian you want, I can find you some nice beautiful spots. The planet's barely inhabited, so you've got your choice of private beaches...' she proposed suggestively.

After munching on a cracker with hummus dip (eww, hummus) while Beja explained Klingon traditions, Jada swallowed and said 'Orions do something similar, but, ahem... it's based on an old bride-kidnapping ceremony, if a dowry price hasn't been paid, depending on the custom. For example,' With a grin, she looked across to the beautiful emerald Orion dancer, Temptation. 'I could steal her away.'

Jayce gave a shrug at Beja's question and took two drinks in a row.  While they might have been obsessed with the Commander, much of his fleet bio was listed as confidential.  They had no idea why.. but it mean that they knew nothing of the Commander's file prior to his Technical Academy days. There was no mention of who his family was, much less their names.  And despite Dr Moreno being their Chief, Jayce knew little about her family either.

"Maybe we should move on to the next activity?" they suggested.

Saqa7 glanced up from her study the Caitian and her tray of pastries. "Hmm what?  Oh next game? Um sure.. but first I did similar round of questions with Rayek a couple days ago and thought it would be fun to share.  Who here wants to see the video?"

Tess listened with interest what Jada had to tell about her former life on the Holocomb's planet. It sounded rather adventurous to her but she really couldn't have imagined anything else to be the Orion's roots. "That sounds like some interesting stories", Tess smiled. A little she could relate to building things from hand, she had learned nothing else on Ba'ku. "I'd love to hear more about it over a glass of ... well, whatever you desire."

Tess smiled at Jada when she suggested she could recommend some special spots on Meridian if they chose to have their honeymoon there. "I will gladly come back to that offer, Jada."

Saqa7 then steered the topic away from honeymoons since there was a little bitter taste to that for Tess and Rayek and Tess smiled at her friend gratefully.
The next question was about her sibling's names and Tess already knew that was a really tough one, except for Antonia maybe. But her friend stayed silent and let the others take their guesses. Since her younger brother was on the station now it didn't surprise Tess that his name was known, and Beja soon mentioned Benjin. But the name of her other brother was unknown to them. But Jayce didn't seem to be very interested in these kind of questions and asked to move onto another game. But that one question Tess wanted to answer anyway. "I have an older brother, his name is Rahul. He lives on Ba'ku."

When Saqa7 mentioned she got a video of Rayek answering the same questions Tess laughed out loud. "Me!" Her hand shot up in the air when her friend asked who wanted to see the video. "I gotta see this!", she grinned. "How did you get him to do that?", Tess grinned at Saqa7. She knew of Rayek's dislike to be recorded on video and then even knowing that it would be shown to the girls gathered here. It stunned Tess and thought her friend was awesome.
