Luby's Quarters - Deck 6 - About 30 mins into Beta Shift

Luby hummed to herself as she took off her uniform and got into some 'civvies' a simple pair of jeans and a baggy tshirt that would fit her as a dress but it had belonged to her bio-father and it was comfortable for her, she felt safe in it.

She wondered if Zed meant what he said about a steak dinner and now that Commander Sigurdsdottir had left, she wondered how many opportunities would be handed to her to see him.

Still she was free now, so she pinged him.

=/\=Wentock to Masters, I apologise if you're with a patient, when you have a moment could you ping me back, or meet me in the Mess for a coffee.  Wentock out. =/\=

[Masters' Quarters]

Zed sat at the piano and stared at the sheet music in front of him. Tchaikovsky's The Seasons Op. 37a No. 5, something he had never played. As he started to play the first few measures of the piece his comm badge rang out with Wentock's voice. A small smile appeared his his face as he grabbed the badge and tapped it to reply.

=/\= I still owe you a steak dinner. Maybe it's time we have that second date? =/\= Masters began as he came to his feet. =/\= I'll be by to meet up with you in a moment. We can always head to the mess hall, or I can serve you in my quarters. =/\=

Masters stopped at the computer panel on the wall and keyed it to request information. Upon confirmation that Luby was in her quarters Zed moved to his restroom. He paused a moment as he arrived at the mirror to check his appearance before swiftly he exited the room. The pairs' quarters weren't particularly far from eachother which resulted in the man arriving at his destination much quicker than he expected. The officer paged the woman inside and patiently waited at the door.

[Luby's Quarters - Deck 6]

Luby smiled to herself and when Zed paged from outside she called out for him to come in.  A little surprised, she was glad she was decent and not still in uniform or changed into her PJs to slob around for the rest of her leisure time! She was trying to tidy some of her room mate's mess.  It was only partially Crewman D'maliha, daughter of Kaghall of the hous of Disht's (or D'ma as she'd asked to be called, Crewman Disht on duty!)'s fault... she came back off shift so shattered she could only fall into bed, and her father expected her to practice bat'leth in her non-duty, non-sleeping times.

Luby wondered sometimes if she was actually permitted times to take a shower, pee and eat... she hadn't asked in the very few times their paths had crossed but she did get notes left on her pillow thanking her for clearing up so she surmised that the young Crew (wo) man was quite a nice soul if she could ever pin her down longer than it took to say 'Hi!'

"Come in Zed, forgive the mess, 90% Klingon room mate with a father I wouldn't want even if I didn't have 2 of my own.  Drives the poor girl to her grave early.  I know Klingons have this thing about 'a good day to die' but I think she's only 24 and not going to reach her 25th birthday if all she does is duty, sleep, bat'leth training on the most difficult settings.  I've had to ask Dr. Thane if it's ok for me to keep a bone knitter and dermal regenerator and a few hypos of painkillers down here so that when she comes in and falls into bed I can patch her up before she's up and going to her duty station again.  All work and no play makes for a messy Klingon... give me a hand and it'll be clear sooner rather than later?!"

Luby gestured to her own almost immaculate side of the room.  "Or you can sit on my bed and wait and tell me how you're going to have this steak done... the sides, the sauce, the music... and any other activities you feel might be appropriate for a second date!"

She grinned and then said "But I think there's something you've forgotten already..." she held her face up and tapped her cheek.

[Luby's Quarter's]

Zed offered a bright smile as the door opened allowing him to enter. At Luby's final words he took a few steps closer. "I forgot nothing." He said as he planted a soft kiss on her lips. "Except maybe how to aim for your cheek." His grin morphed into a more mischievous one as he continued. "It was just nice hearing your voice again. Feels like it's already been too long. Let's get this cleaned up quick shall we?"

Without hesitation Masters moved to assist cleaning the quarters with Wentock before he continued to speak. "You know, if this ever becomes to much you're welcome to crash in my quarters." He paused a moment and blushed slightly. "I...I mean I can always take the couch. You know. Purely above board." Nearly without missing a beat he shifted the conversation back to the date in an attempt to cover up what he had just said. "Uh...anyways about the date, the only hints you get is that I'm a sucker for old Earth jazz and that I now know exactly how you like your steaks cooked." Zed added hoping that the other comment might get buried.

[Luby's Quarter's - Deck 6]

Luby took the hint that Zed was a little embarrassed about the idea of her thinking that he might think that he wanted to sleep with her... she was certainly open to that idea, but hadn't really thought about it.  She'd enjoyed the kiss, kissed back fervently.

She decided to tease a little by thinking he'd got away with it!

"Jazz huh?  Who's your favourite?  My bio dad likes Thelonius Monk, Charlie Parker that sort of thing.  Let's get this done, and then maybe you can practice forgetting where my cheek is again...and who knows, if I get lethargic stuffed with delicious steak and mellowed out with Jazz, I might just fall asleep on your couch and you can keep your bed!" she grinned.

Zed smiled as he continued cleaning Luby's quarters up. "Miles Davis. A few centuries and nothing's quite topped Kind of Blue for me. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of great jazz that's been released since then. But that album really set the standard for jazz going forward. What about you? Maybe not jazz, but you've got to have a favorite musician. Or maybe you're more of a fan of painting and not music?" He asked softly. His eyes drifted to her as he spoke he got lost for a moment as he looked her up and down. "Don't worry, if you fall asleep I'll carry you to the bed. You deserve to at least be comfortable." He added in a matter-of-fact way as the warmth irradiated from his speech.

"I just want to know more about you. Because what I already know has me intrigued, to say the least." Masters continued cleaning as his eyes once again drifted back to her.

"Carry me to the bed huh?  So long as you're going to cuddle me so I don't fall out of a strange bed!" she teased, eyes dancing with the love she had that was growing daily for Masters.

"To your question...I love music, and art, and reading.  As far as music is concerned, I have several.  While I like Jazz, it wouldn't be my 'go to' for music.  I like 60s and 70s Terran music and rock mostly, but also classical... some favourites are Tchaikovsky, for ballet music... I love ballet too by the way, Mozart, Haydn, Mussorgsky, Dvorak, Prokofiev,... Dusty Springfield, ABBA, Boney M, Foreigner, Journey, Boston, Dead Daisies, I could go on forever but just ask the computer to play Wentock Playlist 1-8-6-4 Theta and you'll get a good idea!"  Luby laughed.

"And you know, that's gotta be one of the hardest questions to answer,.." she said picking up a half empty mug of coffee which was growing it's own science experiments, and tried to hide the fact that bile was rising to her throat as she chucked it in the recycle.

"... whenever someone says to me 'Tell me about yourself', I don't have a clue what to say!  What do they want to know?  What might be interesting?!  How much is too much information?  Much better how you're doing it... you know pick a subject and work around that, just in conversation."

She cleared a bit more and stripped her room mate's bed to make it properly.

"Actually,.. Computer, play Wentock Playlist 1-8-6-4 Theta, shuffle entries."

'BEEP... Playing Wentock Playlist 1-8-6-4 Theta on shuffle... BEEP' the computer answered.

When Diana Ross's 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough' kicked in, Luby joined in with not a bad voice singing at the top of her lungs and really letting go, totally comfortable with Zed being there, and dancing around as she cleared and made up the beds.  She emphasised the words singing them to Zed as it was how she felt

"If you need me, call me
No matter where you are
No matter how far
Just call my name
I'll be there in a hurry
On that you can depend and never worry
You see, my love is alive
It's like a seed that only needs the thought of you
To grow
So if you feel the need for company
Please, my darling, let it be me
I may not be able to express
The depth of the love I feel for you
But a writer put it very nicely
When he was away from the one he loved
He sat down and wrote these words:
No wind, (no wind)
No rain, (no rain)
Nor winter's cold
Can stop me, babe
(Oh, babe) baby (baby)
If you're my goal
No wind, (no wind)
No rain, (no rain)
Can stop me, babe
If you wanna go
I know, I know you must follow the sun
Wherever it leads
But remember
If you should fall short of your desires"¦"

She blushed as the song came to an end and something more rocky came on.

"Ah... I think that's just about it!" she said placing a cushion and a teddy on her roommate's bed and smiled.
