[Captain's Ready Room - USS Discovery]

The Vulcan gave a glance to Alex as she listened to Hrafn, briefly wondering what he had wanted to ask her about, and why her specifically. After awhile she supposed the details of the reason didn't really matter. Though she was pretty certain Hrafn would know more than her since her specialties were computers and biochemistry, not astrometrics. T'Lara addressed the both of them.

"My schedule is currently flexible as well, I am almost certain I could find a time to have a talk with you when you are not on duty, Mister Graham. Ms. Falleg, during those times when you are feeling 'bored,' do not hesitate to contact either of us. I find I could do with some stimulating conversation during this off time as well." There was a moment of confusion at the word "snaffle," but she got the gist of it.

[Lounge - USS Discovery]

They had moved to the Lounge, and T'Lara found herself thinking of the last time she had been here, for the memorial service for the crew of the USS Burke. It was some months ago, and yet it felt like just a few days had passed. She supposed she should be thankful that the present occasion was much more pleasant than the last. She had stuck with Graham while Hrafn went with her husband. She looked around absently for a moment, lost in thought, before returning her gaze to Alex.

"Mister Graham, how have you been enjoying your time on Discovery?" she attempted some small talk. If she could recall, he had transferred a month or two ago. If he wanted to ask her his astrometrics question, maybe a question to break the ice would ease the air a bit. She knew how hard it could be to talk to the commanding officers.

[USS Discovery-Lounge]
Alexander never really thought about cross-training but he was curious to know about the other departments. "œIt's been interesting I don't know many of the crew yet. I'll definitely find the time when I'm not on duty so that we could have an in depth chat. I know this might seem ambitious but I want to learn more about the other departments besides flight. I had a few questions about science in regards to astrometrics." Talking to the commanding officers seemed to be intimidating at first but he was glad that he was able to talk to the commander. "œIn regards to astrometrics in theory would there be anything that could affect the accuracy of the readings of the radiation flux of stars?"

Nira was glad the party moved to the lounge. It felt awkward being in the ready room. It was much too cramped for a party, not the least of which there were children in attendance. Nira didn't mind children, but their minds and emotions often tended to be unpredictable. For want of a better word. Nira can't see herself stepping into a nursery or a children's play area; the amount of chaotic emotion could easily leave her with as bad a headache as someone hung over from drinking a keg of Romulan Ale, following it up with a keg of Klingon bloodwine.

Once they were in the lounge, Nira wished she could've had a dress uniform, but remembered that dress uniforms were only to be used for formal occasions. Then she looked around, wondering who to talk to. She wasn't planning to mingle with Don and Torra, she did that plenty of times when they got together for lunch. She didn't want to go near the Captain yet, not while he had catching up with his family to do. Then she saw T'Lara with Mister Graham and moved to talk to them, getting within earshot of what they said as she approached.

"Sounds interesting," said Nira. "I suppose if that's what you want, especially as Discovery has one of the best pilots in the galaxy at its helm. And, technically, Mister Graham, you technically know me. At least from the Athena," she finished with a smile.

Turning to T'Lara, she said, "I knew him from the first ship I served on, by the way."

Turning back to Mister Graham, she said, "How's Commander Aune? Granted, I haven't heard much from him, even though I enjoy being a deputy here on Discovery than over on the Athena."

"I'll take you up on that, and please... while I'm off duty, call me Hrafn.  I sometimes wonder if I actually have a name!  Between 'Lieutenant' and 'Mammy'..." she chuckled.  "...one day you might know what I mean literally with that one.  I think you both would make excellent parents.  you're both intelligent and... I have to say, for Nerys to be excited about talking with you... you made a massive impression on her!"

[Forward Lounge - Deck 6 - USS Discovery]

After moving the party to Discovery's main lounge, the Captain had some wine brought to him while he relaxed with his wife.  The party had much more room and therefore was able to spread out and allow more people in.

He smiled at Hrafn, and thanked the Prophets that he locked his terminal the last time he was using it... Discovery's refit had been scheduled.  And it was at Katra.  Initially Nevir was going to take his wife as far as they could go to shorten the trip, but now that his next assignment was there to begin with, he can turn the tables on her and surprise her.

"We'll see what the Prophets bring, my wife.  It is hard being so far away from my family." he said, playing the role of wistful husband.. at least for now.

"I think extra prayers are needed then!" she smiled back and blew him a kiss. "As joint hostess I'm going to mingle a little!"

She swung round by Torra and Don and grinned.  "Well done you two, I would say going by how relaxed and happy Nevir is... we done good kids!!" she raised her hand offering a high five to them.

"Yes, the spots DO go all the way down.  No, you don't get to see!"

"Alright...Hrafn," T'Lara tried out the first name, not having any trouble with the pronunciation but feeling slightly uncomfortable with the first-name basis. She would get used to it. Considering Hrafn a close friend even though they hadn't known each other very long was something many humanoids did so she would try it out. She raised an eyebrow at Hrafn's suggestion that she would make a good parent. The idea of raising a child had never occurred to her but, with her sa-kugalsu gone and no ties to Vulcan besides her brother she supposed it could happen when she eventually left the service. "Thank you, although your daughter is the one who deserves the credit. I was merely indulging her wishes. She is an impressive individual, I can see her potential." The Vulcan swiftly directed the compliment away from herself. Frankly, Don and Torra were the ones most suited for parenthood.

T'Lara nodded as she listened to Graham and was about to answer his question when they were joined by Nira, who evidently was already acquainted with Alexander. She gave a nod in recognition of this, then waited patiently as Alex answered her. Then when they were finished with the introductions she returned to where they'd left off.

"As for the answer to your question, Mister Graham, there could certainly be something in space that could affect radiation readings from stars. Tachyon particles, temporal anomalies, radiation itself if it is an unknown form are some examples. Are you wondering about anything specific?

Torra was glad that she had the Lounge prepped for an eventual move.  It was actually here that Torra had kept her gift to the Captain.  Since she didn't know his interests well beyond work, she'd had some trouble figuring out what to get.  She'd initially thought of a family portrait for him to hang in his room.  But wondered if that might just make him sad, much like hearing or seeing anything related to infants affected her - she found she avoided Ciavil because of this.  So instead she had searched through the database on human pasttimes and found that there were numerous 'boardgames' that one could entertain with.

She hoped that by getting him something like this it would encourage more socialization with those among the crew.

When there seemed a lull in the conversations, Torra brought forward her gift unwrapped, not being familiar with the notion of wrapped gifts.   In her hand was a wooden chest which she presented to Tekin with a gentle smile.

"For you Captain, belated Happy Birthday."  She dipped her horned head towards him.

When opened, the chest revealed an amateur-grade poker set.

Don Damien Addams

[USS Discovery - Lounge]

Don had been chatting to anyone who was there to be chatted.  Then he saw his wife go over to Tekin with a gift of sort. Then Don had realized the one thing. The gift. He was so involved planning about a year, pulling strings, trying to do this behind Security and Nira and he forgot the gift. He sighed. Maybe he can think something and give it to him later. The man himself had not thought the surprise party could be the gift but he had not seen it that direction.
