"I think you will find that we will be good training for one another in many ways." Mahak said.

His food was finished. Patiently, the young Vulcan sipped some water as he had also polished off his tea. He waited for Kali to be done eating before departing.

"It occurred to me, Kali, that you may not have seen a proper boxing match before. You've seen some sparring in the holodeck, but nothing compares to a prize fight. Would you be interested in seeing one some time, live?"

There were some rice and a couple vegetables left over on her plate, but her stomach said more than enough with the chicken. She looked at the almost empty plate in mild wonder for her appetite until Mahak spoke.

"I think you will find that we will be good training for one another in many ways." Mahak said.

Something weird stirred in her full belly. "Agreed." Though, she wasn't sure what she brought to the table - aside from getting him to lighten up a bit.

Her dark eyes lit up in mention. She remembered her first professional fight - albeit an illegal one set in a cage with rabid targs being introduced every now and then. She had a very feeling that Mahak was leaning toward a more legit match. "Yes! Definitely! Who's fighting? Anyone famous?"

Mahak nodded gravely in response to her enthusiasm.

"It should be an educational night. The undercard is well represented by Talua Mir of Zios VII versus the Klingon Killer Du'Ralle son of Bornt. Those are the cruiser-weights." Mahak said didactically. "Then there are 'Foxy' Felicia Devine versus Berna Hanim, the Turkish Mauler. They're two light welterweights, at 132 lbs, which is a higher weight for two human women. I understand that they've both put on a great deal of muscle to compete with one another."

"But of course, the main card is the reason we will be going." Mahak said. "Two welterweight male fighters. Sleevok of Vulcan versus Locan of Romulus. Vulcanoids like them will rarely fight at anything over welterweight, that is to say 147 lbs, but they pack a much larger punch due to their superior strength."

The Vulcan found that is own readiness to depart had grown to match Kali's by the time he had run down the fighters. "Computer, time?"

"=/\=It is 2115 hours.=/\="

"The fights are on the Starbase Columbus. We have just enough time to get to the shuttlebay to depart, Kali. If you're ready?" He asked curiously.

Kali's excitement grew the more Mahak spoke of the lineup. Foxy Devine? Locan of Romulus? They were going now?! The ticket itself sounded like it was bathed in latinum. She half-wondered if there were bookies crawling around the base already.

She quickly squelched down the risks of ending up in Columbus' brig again. Seemed like in bad taste since Mahak was willing to invite her to a match. "Okay," she said brightly as she stood up. "I'll be on my best behavior. For sure!"

There wasn't even time to change and that sucked, but her excitement more than compensated wearing her uniform to the match. She tugged on Mahak's arm like an over-excitable puppy to get him up and going.

Mahak let himself be pulled along as he wiped his mouth and only had time to ball up the napkin and hurl the cloth at the table.

"Kali, your enthusiasm is quite understandable, but that does not mean that sanitary procedures should be--"
