Bunk Mates [ Kyjann ]

Relar made sure his items were placed into his footlocker.  His father had helped him to pack light, and Tayel by all means knew how it was to bring the bare-bones.  Though there was a few things he kept.

He had a bunkmate, and hopefully this was someone he could get along with at the very least.  Even better if they could become friends.  Regardless, he'd be respectful and keep the room nice and clean.  He didn't mind having a bunkmate; he'd had roommates throughout his academy days.  And he was an expert on alien cultures and customs; he was sure he could observe any customs they had.  And the very thought intrigued him.

He made sure that his console was running well.  He would make a personal log later.  He couldn't believe it, still!  He was posted on a ship.  It felt so good.  This would be his home, a home moving through the stars.  He was kind of used to living in space, having grown up on Deep Space 9, but still...this was mobile.

Kyjaan held his hands behind his back as he walked down the corridor. His quarters had been reassigned, again, but he didn't mind. Just behind him two crewmen pushed a grav-lift with his Borg Alcove upon it. They turned the corner and right there in front of his was his new door.

He pressed the button and the door slid open. Standing inside was his new room mate.

"Hi." he said cheerfully extending a hand as the crewmen wheeled the cybernetic sleeping station into the room.

Relar did not know who or what to expect, but he certainly did not anticipate to see the man with the Borg-made alcove.  A liberated Borg?  Things just got a lot more interesting.  He knew about the Borg, of course.

And the ears, the eyebrows hinted at him being at least part Vulcanoid.  He extended his hand to Relar, and Relar took it, shaking firmly and smiling back.

"Hello," he replied.  "I am Cadet Hebrin Relar."  He glanced to the alcove.  "Perhaps I could help you get set up here?"  He liked to be of help to people; and especially to his roommate.

Kyjaan, overall was a fairly friendly man. Despite having been Borg, and dealing with prejudices from those people who had been severely affected by the cybernetic race, he could smile. Which was also unusual for one of Vulcan decent. But he rejected the teachings of Surak.

"How much do you know about quantum manifolds and bioneuro interfacing?"

He turned his attention the the two crewman that had carted the alcove into the room and pointed to a corner.

"Other there in the corner will be fine. I'll hook it into the ships EPS power grid."

With a broad smile he clasped his hands together, So Crewman Relar, what kind of trouble and hyjinks do you get up to?"

Relar wasn't as good with technology as an engineer might be.  "Ah...I'm not very familiar with those," he replied with a chuckle.  But he could do the simpler tasks, such as holding down wires and such.

Kyjann asked what he'd been up to.  "It's Cadet, actually, sir," he replied, a bit nervous at correcting someone of higher rank.  Crewman, was, after all, an Enlisted rank, and Relar wasn't enlisted.  But he was still a Cadet.  "And I don't like to get into trouble, unless it's part of a story in a holodeck."  He chuckled.

"I'm in the Sciences.  Xeno-anthropology is my focus."

Kyjaan found the cadet's response to be amusing.

"I figure, while we are in here, we don't have to stand on ceremony. Seems silly to call your bunk mate by rank. Call me Ky."

His dark eyes were hard upon the man, appraising him. Measuring him.

"No trouble-making. Got it." though when Ky said it, he wasn't referring to actually making trouble. More like, what do you do in your spare time. Apparently holo-novels.  His Borg modified brain worked fast. Permutations and combineurtonics started calculating. He was, for all intents and purposes psycho analyzing the man. Not that this was unique to him only. Ky did it with everyone.

"What kind of holo-novels do you enjoy?"
