One of the issues, along with the entire command team having to rotate through due to real life issues throughout the mission, is that we simply didn't have enough storyline critical goals to pass around to all members in every area, especially with the new characters being assigned. The current mission was to heavily focus on the security department, who all became unavailable or inactive at the beginning of the mission and lasted most of the month. This forced us to adapt the storyline, and those who stepped in have, in my opinion, done an excellent job.

Some of the inactivity came from players losing interest due to not having enough to do, and others just deciding that they wanted to sim on the holodeck instead of contributing in mission. A fourth simm, where characters can be spread out and given more objectives to complete in a mission, would alleviate many of these areas for improvement.

As has been noted, these issues are being addressed. Thanks for your concern.

Wow!  My last name might be Jackson, but you can go by 'Stonewall' from now on.

BTW, blaming holodecks for inactivity was one of the prime tactics of the old administration.

Not the place for this discussion. This is the 4th SIMM class discussion. However, since there appear to be strong feelings on the subject, I have created a thread just for those issues to be addressed and aired out.

Now back to the discussion on the 4th simm class. Thanks

Unlike the old administration, I'm able to prove my assertions with recorded proof. However, since the character in question has already been placed in Reserves, I don't think we really need to delve any further in this matter.

An upgraded ambassador or excelsior class would be interesting, lots of history on both vessel classes. On the other hand, the Prommie does offer the opportunity to go in a different and new direction...any aspiring engineers or designers could have a field day.

And thank you for putting the thread back on topic!

I hate Prometheus, it's way too fanboy/godmodish.  We also had an STO ship class here, once, and it flopped.

There's something to be said for Galaxy.  It is essentially the 'superstar' class of the TNG era, and I personally appreciate the design aesthetic and philosophy that it espouses - less about 'pew pew' storytelling and more about the meat and potatoes of space exploration.  Gene lost a lot of his mind in his dotage, but that was one aspect of TNG that was correct, as well as the 'college town in space' idea behind the Galaxy project.

As mentioned prior, we thought about incorporating a sense of history into the simm.  We once had a Galaxy, the USS Gettysburg.  I don't recall it being very active, but it was here when I joined.  Maybe someone could bring the Getty out of mothballs.

A Galaxy call would be doable, I think.  It would fall in the bigger ship range.  And it would give us the saucer separation feature!

I served on the Gettys.  It was a Galaxy class at one time.  We could bring it back to life (but the Galaxy spec would need to be rewritten).

I'd like to recommend a Prometheus Class. It fits our timeline perfectly and man is it a cool ship.

I never considered this!!! Amazing idea! The crew size is perfect. When we look at our timeline the Prometheus Class would likely be in full implementation by the 2390's. We would have to take a little creative license with the specs, but that should be easy enough to figure out.

I think you should post this proven proof in the Discovery discussion thread.

Thanks!

That is my favorite design as well ^.^'  And i'm sure we can come up with the specs, well at least the more nerdy of us :D

For sure! If there is one thing that is certain concerning our little group, we got nerdy down to an art form. :-P There are some specs out there.

Filling in the gaps shouldn't be to difficult. I think deck layout may be the most challenging.

I'd say any engineers could have a field day on either
I'd also say certain Engineers of the name Dylan Torngate would *LOVE* the chance to mess with old engines or have fun with the newer creative licence.

I do have specs saved for the Challenger. That was our newest addition prior to "The Rising". She was an updated Galaxy class...also intereating tidbit about that did anyone else know that the ENT-D had SeaWorld aboard? Check out the Galaxy class blueprints...they had large aquariums on Deck 14...

On the part of the Prometheus, it would be a cool addition and with the right specs...a valued addition to RP on.

From what it looks like, the ones people really like now are the Ambassador, Excelsior, and Prommie.

Ambassador Quickfacts:

750 standard crew, 100 visiting, 2,750 maximum evac limit
Length, 526 meters; beam, 322 meters; height, 128 meters.
26 Decks

Excelsior Quickfacts:
450 Officers and Crew, 130 visitors, 9,800 evac limit
Length, 511.25 meters; beam, 195.64 meters; height, 86.76 meters.
17 Decks

Prometheus Quickfacts:
175 Officers and Crew (or anywhere over four)
Length: 415 Meters, Width: 170 Meters Height: 113 Meters
Decks: UNKNOWN, it looks like about 5 meters of height per deck so I'd guess around 22-23 decks.

Should we create a poll on a new thread with these 3 options?

Or do we want to add more to the list before creating a poll?

I would add a few more to the list and then poll it.

Cool.

If we want to simplify it we could simply ask if people preferred a large (ie. Ambassador), medium (ie Prometious), or small (ie Saber).

Or we can list out each individual class for everyone to vote on.

Which every you guys think!
