Solluk, I think Jyur is attempting to track what we assumed was a filament not a cosmic string. But, as we're still so far away and there's plenty of interference, it could be a string which would be much easier to track and probably more helpful to the storyline. I don't see why they couldn't have been hit by a filament first and now a string is on its way. I only brought this up for us to settle on something definitive, so we know what we're looking for and tracking.

Apologies if I am confusing filaments with strings.  (Shh... I am not a Starfleet trained officer.)  Please just assume that if I say string and it should be filament, I meant filament.  But if I say filament and it should have been string, I meant string.  ;-)
