Quote from: Max Fortune on July 21, 2018, 02:53:26 PM

Max blinked and let her eyes refocus on the security standing before her
No.. yes.. no No.  Not lost.  She shook her head to clear her thoughts
Cadet Max reporting to a maintenance report regarding the Captains chair
She looked over towards the captain trying to ascertain the fault from a distance - and failed to see anything amis.
Sorry, lost in the moment, I've not been on this bridge before she paused for a moment, I can return later if this is not a good time
Her cheeks started to flush a bit with embarrassment

[Bridge]

Though Casey's brow was arched while the cadet explained her presence on the Bridge in a rambling manner, she felt a stab of sympathy. She remembered her first trip to the Bridge, indeed her first day onboard and those that followed, all too well. It wasn't easy.

Casey was just about to launch into the story of her first time on the Bridge, the time she'd walked straight into a Q coup, when the Captain himself approached them. She watched as the young cadet introduced herself and spoke clearly as to her purpose there. She might have stood to attention herself had she been capable, but with her arms full she instead she settled for a nod that she rather hoped came off as respectful.

Quote from: Michael Ferdinand on July 22, 2018, 11:37:40 AM

[Bridge]

"Please cadet, proceed. Just mind the buttons, lest you want to kill is all." His last sentence was an attempt to scare her that he was trying to pass off as a joke. If he could get even a fraction of that cadet naivety  out of Max's system, here was sure that she would make a fine, obedient, officer

She pressed her lips together in attempt to avert the small grin that threatened. This Captain already seemed like a different kettle of fish to Meadows, though she'd have to hold her judgment on just how different until she'd seen him in action. "Casey Power, sir," she introduced herself, hating every part of the mouthful that her rank was, and choosing to omit it. "At your service."

[Bridge]

Casey shifted her weight from one foot to the other as she waited impatiently by Tactical 2 for Lieutenant Tannet to stop faffing about and hand her the bloody reports. Her shift was all but finished, and while Tannet's summons had been in time, she hadn't been prepared for the aura of urgency that was rolling off Casey in waves.

She didn't really know why she was so keen to get some sleep though, considering that her dreams lately had consisted of talking cloud parasites and murderous flash mobs. A drink or two wouldn't go amiss, not to mention escaping the activity on the Bridge surrounding their new Captain. That said, watching the show had been a somewhat interesting distraction, and Casey made multiple mental notes regarding Michael Ferdinand that she could pass along to her fellow lowly minions.

She watched the others as they approached the new commanding officer, much like plebeians bringing their new lord a tithe. The corners of her lips quirked upward at the thought, and she didn't look away from the procession until Tannet whacked her on the upper arm with a PADD. "Hmm?"

Casey turned to look at the Security officer, a brow arched but amused smile still evident on her mouth. "Oh, finally. Good luck today, Lieutenant." She said by way of farewell, gathering a few PADDs into her arms and heading straight toward the turbolift.

Quote from: Max Fortune on July 21, 2018, 09:44:54 AM

[Bridge]

The turbolift doors opened and she took a single step out before stopping and taking in the scene.  She had seen pictures of the bridge, and she knew the technical specs, but actually seeing it was something else entirely.  The viewscreen with the starfields and the years of experience that stood or sat around her was impressive.  She completely forgot to announce herself, lost in the moment - she just stood there watching

Casey spied the young woman blocking one of the turbolifts and slowed. "Lost, Cadet?" She asked, readjusting the pile of PADDs in her arms as she came to a stop beside her.

[Science Labs]

Casey spared a glance for her own department head, whose body at that moment was lifeless in one of the lab's compartments. Not for the first time that night, she wondered about the likelihood of getting through this debacle alive. She had her doubts, but she wouldn't voice them. Her lips quirked downward, somewhat affected by Tabbris' obvious upset over the situation. But Tempest was right when it came down to it, they had to do what was necessary to save the many.

And then, when the Captain's voice came through with a kill order, Casey pushed herself away from the counter where she'd been leaning and gathered her wits and weapons. The phaser that Kalro had given her a few hours previously was still at her hip, and she'd already spied one of the science crewmen with a rifle. She moved through the small crowd that had gathered to listen to Tempest until she'd sidled up to the very nervous looking chap. "Your rifle." She held out her hand expectantly. He turned and looked at her, confusion written all over his face. "Give it to me." She glared at him, not in the mood to argue or reason with him that she'd be the better choice to handle the Type 3. "Now."

Wordlessly he handed it over. As Tempest spoke she checked the weapon, and without hesitation, maxed the output settings.

Quote from: Djann Tempest on July 11, 2018, 06:45:03 PM

[ USS Shran - Science Lab ]

Stepping down from the table he motioned for Tabbris, Mondo, Powers and the Doctors to join him. "If we are to save any of the crew, all of you are going to have to focus on executing the plan to evacuate the oxygen. I need to go to environmental control to be ready for whenever engineering says we are a go. Let the others focus on combat although you are most likely going to have to fight your way. Doctors" he said to the two physicians; "Make sure everyone is ready with whats needed to revive the crew and make sure nobody is losing it due to stress. Mondo and Tabbris, I know I'm not your CO but I'm taking the both of you with me. We'll deal with the fallout later but I'm going to need a few sets of hands. Powers, this is your time to shine. Tactical support for the "Plan A" team is going to be your purview. The Keer are going to be aware of our plan and will most likely try to neutralize people in key roles before we can initiate. Take whatever steps are necessary to ensure the plan is go. Any suggestions or questions?".

As Tempest opened the floor to questions, several hazy spots started to solidify in the room. "THEY'RE HERE. AT ARMS" Djann shouted to anyone and everyone. Picking up a phaser rifle, he dialed it to maximum and chose a target, hoping everyone else could and would do the same.

Casey raised the rifle in her arms, took aim and fired. Without pausing the steady stream of fire from her rifle she pushed up toward the group and started barking over the sound of fire and surprised shouts. "Heavy-hitters on the perimeter! I want rifle cover for Tempest's team!" She backed up then suddenly, her eyes narrowed, focused on the emerging entities. "No way," she muttered, "I'm not sharing." As messed up as it was, her brain was her own, and she certainly wasn't about to allow anything else in there.
Quote from: Lawrie McGellen on July 12, 2018, 01:45:40 PM

"Call targets and we'll synchronise efforts, maybe if two phasers are trained on them at once that will help.  We don't have the power in these as the rifles do but we may do some good together, I'll take your mark, I'm a doctor not a sniper!"

"Two o'clock!" She called out, adopting Lawrie's idea immediately. She added her own firepower to their's combined, and was briefly gratified to see the emerging entities subside. "Push up!" She called out to the group, eager to get them going and out of the science lab where the weird blobby things seemed to be focusing. "Forward!"

She looked over at Nari. "You good?" While waiting for any sort of response from the unusual individual, she cast a glance back over her shoulder to make sure they were covered. "Doctors, ready when you are."

[Science Lad]

Lawrie was still giggling at Casey's husky mush, when he walked up to the sweaty mess she was in and handed her a medical wipe out of his kit.  "It's nae much, Sweetcheeks, and ye're still damn sexy even sweaty, but might cool ye doon a little." he said offering her it to wipe around her face and neck.  "No gettin' dehydrated when yer recoverin' from erm... the mornin' after the night before either, more harm than good!"

He gave her a wink and then was hailed by the Science officer.

[Science Lab]

"Thanks, Doc." Casey gratefully took the medical wipe from his hand and split the pack. She started with her face, a little tentatively over the broken parts, before liberally using the small, sterile cloth on the back of her neck and chest. She continued to wipe as she nodded in response to Tempest, feeling somewhat refreshed.

[USS Shran-Science lab]

Pointing to the body Djann asked, "Is this one of the inhabited? If so, isolate them in the back compartment. The main part of the science lab is going to remain pressurized during the procedure" he motioned toward the area as he spoke.

"Alright Chief, let's get you moving." Having no further use for the medical wipe, and not wanting to contaminate the lab, she stuffed it into Soren's breast pocket. She suppressed a sigh and bent down further to pick up two of the discarded bandages that Lawrie and Tabbris had been attached to. She tugged to straighten them, and then began to wrap the bandages around her wrists for extra purchase. She started to tug the makeshift board backward, muttering to herself the entire way to the area Tempest had indicated.

"Oh yeah, that's right, the puny human will drag the nearly-dead body around, all on her lonesome," she mumbled, although out of earshot of the others. She looked up for a moment and raised her voice enough to greet McKinson. "Dr. Bartender." Casey immediately returned her attention to the task at hand and continued to grumble. "The rest of you can just sit around, doing your arts and crafts, that's cool..." It most likely made her look unhinged, but it made her feel better.

Once the 'inhabited' body was secured in the compartment she returned to the lab proper, and leaned against a counter. She didn't want to be too far from the body, just in case.

[ USS Shran - Mess Hall ]

"Actually n-no, Casey, Bajorans are solid. The commander is inhabited by a gaseous parasite," Perhaps the general consensus about the security department bore some truth. With a quizzical narrowing of the eyes, his focus darted to the Hupyrian who claimed the chief would be an easy carry. "P-perhaps for you, crewman, but not all of us are built like a Jumja tree. N-no offense. I've carried stunned bodies before, it's not fun. I'd rather be a part of the solution rather than the problem, though. I'll assist wherever need be." He relented with a shrug, motivated by the pity he felt towards the man, knowing he was experiencing the same horror that he felt.

[Mess Hall]

"Of course you're solid, Tabbris." You're a real boy! It was just all about Casey could manage as she struggled to keep her laughter controlled. She should have learned to expect it by now, really, most other humans assumed she was calling them flatulent, why shouldn't the Bajoran too take her literally? The delighted grin was back as she followed instruction and began to assist Nari with the restraints.

Quote from: Kaia Tabbris on July 04, 2018, 06:57:07 PM

"You'll have to work together to lift him up while I slide this under the chief's body, then we can secure him and off we go. On the count of three... 1, 2,3!" Tabbris knelt low in order while he waited for the security team to lift the chief's frame to slide the table's surface underneath.

Waiting for the count of three, Casey heaved and grunted under the weight of her Chief. She shrugged nonchalantly when Lawrie declared she was of a smaller stature; he wasn't wrong, and if their new plan meant she wouldn't have to lug an unconscious body around the Jefferies tubes all night with no environmental controls, then she didn't mind in the slightest. She positioned herself accordingly and rolled her shoulders, loosening up in preparation for what could potentially be a bit of a tough go.

The doctor found some more bandages in his medkit and fashioned an 'X' of them for himself and Tabbris tying further ones to the table 'sled'.

"Right now I'll get in and then Tabbris follow me, once we get the table in, if you Tabbris could pass the longer of the bandages to me I'll tie them to ma'self, you do the same wi' the shorter ones, then Casey and Mr. Nari and the rest o' ye behind.  Don't shove too hard or ye'll hit poor Tabbris in the arse!"

"Mush!"

[Sciences]

In due course with a few thousand cuss words, the table spinal board getting 'stuck' and the prone Chief shifting a few times, they did eventually get to Sciences.

"I suggest untying yourself Tabbris, I just near castrated ma'self there.  But we're here!"

He stepped out of the Jeffries and helped get the Chief out safely.

"McGellen, and friends, reporting as ordered....somewhat more tardily than I would have wanted under normal circumstances."

[Science Lab]

Casey stepped out of the tube, a little less gracefully than before. Her hair was damp, and she could feel the vest beneath her dress sticking to her skin.  Once they deposited their load on the ground she straightened up, arched her back and stretched. Turns out, sledding in a Jefferies tube with three bulky blokes and no life support was a bit of a workout.

"Hi Tempest," she said by way of greeting as she stepped into the lab, pulling her hair back tightly from her face and tying it in a high ponytail with some of the leftover bandage. "We come bearing gifts." She stepped away from the makeshift spinal board and glanced around the lab, taking everything in.

[Mess Hall]

Casey's head hurt. Not just from the re-emerging hangover, but also from trying to understand all of Tabby's words. So many words that were supposed to make up a coherent sentence. She sighed and fingers pressed into her temples as her addled mind worked through what she was being presented with, what the potential outcomes might be, and how she needed to get there.

"Okay," she said slowly, looking back up at the Bajoran after he'd fielded their questions. The idea that there were more and that they may have already breached the ship, was a terrifying one. They were on the clock and she had no idea how they were supposed to stop it, or what might make this fellow get out of the Chief's body. "In the meantime, we'll stun what we need to stun, or blow up what you need us to blow up."

With hand still pressed to temple, her head fell to one side a little as she processed the sudden change of tone, and the rambling which was almost as confusing as the egghead chatter. "Filitov...?" Lieutenant Fixer-Upper! Casey actually chuckled, delighted. "She's Russian, I reckon. You're gas, Tabbris." She turned to look at her fellow Sec/Tac crewman and aimed to give him a friendly elbow to the ribcage. "Isn't he gas craic?"

The suggestion of moving the body was not an attractive one. Between them all, even just she and Nari, they could probably manage it, though as Tabbris had rightly pointed out, there wasn't really much point in bringing him to Sickbay or the brig when they had no power. Bringing him to the Captain was a better plan perhaps; she'd probably want to see and speak to this alien herself. "To the Bridge through the Jefferies tubes with an unconscious chief is a hard ask." Though perhaps they could work something else out. "Maybe we could hold off on the sedation and deliver aul Chiefy here to the Captain for interrogation. Or to one of the Science Labs." They would, after all, need to experiment.

Her eyes landed on Evie, whose quiet presence hadn't prompted much reaction. She stepped a little closer and crouched down to be of a level height with the holographic velociraptor.

[Mess Hall]

Casey's expression was one of surprise at being given the royal nickname, though she carefully and quickly schooled it so as not to give away her displeasure. If Lawrie was anything like her, then as soon as he realised it bothered her, he'd use it all the more. If she didn't react he might forget about it. That is what having three older brothers taught you.

But she couldn't hold it together when the mad doctor struck his pose, full-on Blue Steeling her in the middle of a dark Mess Hall, over the prone body of her Security Chief, who, according to their new companions, had been possessed by an alien life form while the ship listlessly hung in space, completely dead. Bloody ridiculous. Still, as soon as she regained control of her grinning mouth, she puckered her lips and let loose a decent wolf-whistle. Realising that the sound would likely have very little meaning to the nonhuman portion of the room, she helpfully (or not), winked at Tabbris-not-Reet.

She listened closely as the pair began their sitrep. Crewman 'Nari', as Tabby had referred to him as, was a little easier to understand. The Ops ensign had then launched into an explanation that was somewhat more scientific, and Casey's forehead creased in a frown as she tried her best to follow. She'd never heard of the keer, and did not like that this creature had identified himself as the chief scout. She experimentally extended her leg and poked the lifeless body with her foot. "So, if I'm picking up what you're putting down right, Tabbris, then this keer scout has a method of contacting its pals, who are now all on their way to our ship with the intention of possessing us." She looked between them all and decided that the situation was almost too bizarre to be believed. She thought about the crew on the Bridge who had already begun working on a way to get the ship back online and get out a distress call. When Tabbris discussed the prospect of waking the Chief, Casey asked another question. "Do you think that keeping the Chief unconscious might interrupt this keer chap's connection?" If the others managed to get them moving then the last thing they'd want is their 'captive' sending a message and their new location.

When it appeared that the pair were struggling to understand the doctor, she simply said by way of explanation, "He's Scottish." She shrugged. The only reason she could understand a word out of his mouth was because their countries were neighbours, and her grandmother had hailed from similar parts.
