LOA Archives / Reserve Request : Deryn Kell
February 20, 2020, 12:49:11 PM

Character(s) affected: Deryn Kell
Assigned ship(s): Discovery
Period of time absent: Undetermined

Date returning: N.A.

Any relevant comments: My current professional situation being what it is , i'm finding a lack of general motivation regarding a lot of things right now , and written RPG is one of them . The Discovery crew is absolutely lovely and i'm really glad i tagged along for a little while but i don't want to be a burden and " that " person who randomly stops posting for a week or two and then comes back having no clue what happened during that time , again :/

#2

I haven't posted in a few days and i won't be available for at least a solid extra week due to some Props i have the finish real soon as trophies for a local Warhammer tournament . I'm having issues upon issues with them and very little time to be on my computer the closer we are to the Tournament date . My apologies

[Lieutenant JG Nira Said | Main Shuttle Bay | Deck Eleven | USS Discovery NCC-78393-B]

Nira had been growing used to the creakings, but she was sure something was up. The vibrations were growing stronger. This in itself was unusual. And Nira had a feeling it had to do with this artifact tractored aboard. Her suspiciousness was aroused. She was certain the Romulans were up to something.

Tapping her comm badge, she called up one of the few people aboard who knew Romulan. "Lieutenant Said to Ensign Kell, please report to me at the shuttle bay immediately," she said.

She wasn't about to turn to Cadet Falleg-Tekin; there were, after all, Romulans with her, and she wasn't about to let the Romulans knew she knew...if they were behind some kind of activation or operation of the artifact.

She had just heard Captain Tekin calling in, and she was about to when another officer nearby called in to report. And apparently, somebody who paid more attention to the weapon. Just looking at it, NIra could see it was doing nothing...at least nothing that the eye nor sensors could detect. Nira ran a quick scan upon the officer's words and could see there was no change in power levels.

"Ensign, it may look like power levels haven't changed," she said as she felt the ship dropping out of warp, "just from looking at it with our eyes and seeing our sensors...but then, it could be made that way. We have to run a more thorough scan just to make sure it isn't really..."

Suddenly the ship lurched. The lights dimmed to red as the klaxons blared. Nira braced herself and then glared up at the "Viper's Eye." Either the ship hit something, or something hit the ship, but if it wasn't for the "Eye" and the Romulans, Nira would've spent the rest of the day hypothesizing that anything from a small asteroid to some random sleeper ship could've struck the ship or vice versa. But she immediately had her suspects and she had a duty to attend to.

"Ensign," she snapped, turning to the ensign who reported to Captain Tekin and handed him her tricorder, which had already begun the thorough scan she wanted mere nanoseconds before the impact. "Take this and continue with the scan. Don't let anything, I repeat NOT. A. THING. Interrupt you. Not the scan, nothing. We have to make sure!"

Taking some steps around the "Eye," almost like a prowling predator, Nira tapped her comm badge again.

"Ensign Kell, I need you down here now!" she said. Then she tapped her comm badge again. "Computer, locate any and all Romulans aboard this ship."

Odds were, they would be with Cadet Falleg-Tekin, but if they had some kind of hidden activation protocol, she had to make sure the Romulans weren't in places in the ship where they weren't supposed to.

She had just pace around again, reaching the door to the shuttle bay, when it opened and she almost bumped into a familiar face.

[ USS Discovery - Main Bridge - Ops Station ]

At first everything had gone smoothly when the Viper's Eye had been hauled aboard Discovery . But things went south pretty soon afterwards . Unusual creaking and vibrations throughout the ship had the Engineers busy at the moment , and that was only the beginning .

=/\= Copy that Lieutenant , i'll be with you shortly . =/\=

Deryn rose from the Ops Station and called for one of her nearby fellow Ensigns to man the Station while she was off to the Shuttle bay . She was just stepping out of the turbolift when the ship rocked violently as if it had taken a massive hit . She stumbled and almost fell over . Alarms started blaring throughout the corridors as she stood back up .

=/\= Almost there Lieutenant .  =/\=

With the emergency lighting turning on , Ensign Kell broke into a sprint and made it to the Shuttle bay in record time . The doors swooshed open as she approached and she went straight for Lieutenant Said , saluting her as she arrived .

" Lieutenant . "

A few dozen seconds later , an immediate evacuation order resounded in the Shuttle bay . It was the Commander's voice and judging by his voice , things weren't getting better anywhere aboard the Ship . The Lieutenant immediately started ordering people out for they had very little time . Deryn joined her to make sure nobody got trapped in the Shuttlebay . She dashed forward as a panicked Crewman tripped and fell on a set of heavy cable and dragged him towards the doors .

[Lieutenant JG Nira Said | Archeological Ruins | Carraya IV]

Nira turned to Ensign Kell with interested.

"You? Fluent in Romulan?" she whispered. "I'm impressed. Yes, keep within earshot and see if you can overhear what they have to say. And if have to discuss further on the subject, it'd be best to relay me the news with your thoughts, so as to not give anything away, nor give any likelihood to the Romulans that we know. If you're not comfortable with telepathy, then continue with whispers."

Nira knew this was something that required her telepathy again, but her caution about her telepathy had grown sporadically since the incidents of her use since her promotion.

In any case, Nira was impressed with Ensign Kell. She had thought, back on the Athena, to have one of the crew work with her, and she was wondering if Kell had potential to work with her while Nira was on Discovery.

"Be sure to keep an eye on them, Ensign," Nira whispered. "Report anything unusual about the Romulans to me. We can't report to Discovery's Chief of Security nor the Captain until we have concrete proof of what they're up to...depending on what they're doing. Also...you seem an excellent security officer as well as an operations officer."

[ Carraya IV - Archaeological Ruins - Underground Facility ]

In a whisper , Deryn answered the Lieutenant .

" All three dialects . " And the rest she communicated telepathically as she started to move closer to the Scientists slowly and inconspicuously . I tend to keep that card up my sleeve , Romulans tend to assume that us Federation-types are highly unlikely to understand - much less speak - their language . I'm fine with telepathy by the way .

If she felt uncomfortable at any time , Ensign Kell had no doubt she could block any telepathic link quite easily thanks to the rather unique Cardassian mental discipline and resilience she possessed . They were one of the rare species to be able to resist Vulcan mind-melds after all .

She kept moving , looking around calmly with her rifle pointing down , pretending to pay no attention and minding her own business . But she kept within earshot distance of the Romulans and spied on their discussion , both with Cadet Falleg-Tekin and when they were talking between themselves . Especially when they were talking between themselves . One was never too careful when dealing with Romulans . Some were genuinely trying to work with the Federation , but they were usually infiltrated by some who had far less honourable intentions .

If any one of them acts weird , i'll let you know . Thank you Lieutenant , Security is what i trained for . Plus , she had had some martial training prior to joining Starfleet . But that too , she usually kept it for herself .

[Lieutenant JG Nira Said | Archeological Ruins | Carraya IV]

Nira was impressed by Mister Hugo's skill, how he disarmed the traps. So she followed exactly to his instructions all the way into where the Viper's Eye was kept.

And there it was, clear as day. Nira was impressed. With the size of it all...Nira could wonder about the results. If it was a bomb prototype, it could've gone unused or it could've been reverse-engineered by the Romulans. She knew that the original atomic bomb from Earth was as big as a small submarine, and the Viper's Eye reminded her of it.

Nira heard the lead Romulan scientist talking to Cadet Falleg-Tevin. In Romulan, of course. Nira wondered what kind of prominence the cadet had archeologically.

As everybody else went about their business, particularly with getting the doors open so as to contact the ship easier, Nira just kept staring at the Viper's Eye. Whatever it did to hold such a fearful name, let alone a reputation, she did not like it one bit.

She could figure something of this size wouldn't fit in the Romulan ship, knowing most science-based vessels are small themselves. Therefore, Nira figured that it was likely Discovery that was going to be hauling this weapon. But she didn't like it either. She wondered if one of the scientists could be a Tal Shiar infiltrator, and perhaps once they were all gone, said infiltrator or someone hidden would activate the weapon by remote and...

Nira shook her head. That was her paranoid thinking going again. She turned to Commander Galloway.

"Is there anything I can do to help?" she asked.

[ Carraya IV - Archaeological Ruins - Underground Facility ]

Ensign Torra lifted the wounded Romulan scientist off the ground with the help of one of his colleagues , one answering to the name of Kotik . They brought him to the surface to have him beamed to their ship .

As for the rest of the group , they quickly resumed their exploration of the facility , but this time things went rather smoothly and nobody else was shot by an old security system . After a while , they eventually made it to the " Viper's Eye " . It was just there , right in front of them . It looked big , compared to a single being ... But given its alleged ability to affect the balance of power of the entire Sector , it was a bit ... small looking , underwhelming even . And that was precisely what was odd about it .

Deryn saw Lieutenant Nira staring at the Eye , not too far from the Romulans who seemed to be busy with Cadet Falleg-Tekin . By the look on her face , Ensign Kell could tell she didn't like this whole thing Viper's Eye thing . Plus , working with Romulans in general made many people uncomfortable . She quietly stepped towards her , and once next to her asked in a whispering voice :

" I take it you don't really trust them . I can stay within earshot of those scientists if you wish , Lieutenant . I don't usually brag about it but i am fluent in Romulan , among other languages ... "

Ensign Danjar-Torra Addams
[Carraya IV - Archeological Ruins - Uncovered chamber>>Hall]

Torra, at the rear of the group, listened ahead as the cadet explained about the translation.  The Grazerite pondered what type of weapon would be described as a 'striking killer'.  Could it have been an early form of disruptor?  Her thoughts on the subject were interrupted at hearing Kell ask to 'close the march'.  A position Torra had already assumed, even if she wasn't in security anymore.

It amused her a bit at the cadet's misunderstanding of the phrase.

"Cadet, what Ensign Kell is referring to is security role.  The rear position in a column...'closes the march' and keeps watch for attack from behind."

She turned to look at Kell, who as Ops shouldn't be carrying a phaser, much like herself.  "You're welcome to share the position with me."  She gave a bit of a self-conscious shrug.  "Some roles you just never slip out of."

A sudden blast from up ahead drew her attention alertly, because of her height she was able to see over most of the others to see that there was a commotion up ahead... then she heard her name called.  Torra shouldered her way past the others in the narrow hall until she arrived at the downed Romulan.

"Lieutenant did you see what happened" she asked trying to determine the mechanism of injury, even as the Lieutenant was tossing a tricorder down the hall.  The disruptor beam gave her the answer she needed.

Torra unshouldered her medkit and attempted to scan him with her medical tricorder.  However much like the Commander had warned, the tricorder's reading were chaotic because of whatever scrambling method they had in the place.   She would need to access and treat his wounds without the aid of the tricorder.

Nira's assessment that the wound wasn't lethal was accurate enough but that by no means meant it wasn't serious.

Torra looked to injured Romulan with reassurance. "I am a trained medic.  Before I administer an analgesic are you allergic to anything?"

The Romulan shook his head wincing at the pain of his wound. "No."

The disruptor blast had caught the man mid-chest.  The 'burn' was 10 cm in diameter, and was already presenting as a 2nd degree burn.  She would need to cool the site or the damage could continue and move into a 3rd degree category.

She opened her kit, pausing a moment to recall the best analgesic to use on a Vulcanoid.  She pulled out a vial inserted it into a hypospray.

"I'd like to administer to you 10 cc's of terakine.  It's wide-based analgesic that will help with the pain, until we can move you to a safer spot where I can treat your injury with a dermal regenerator." she explained her planned course of treatment. "Do I have your permission to proceed?" she asked.

The Romulan nodded and pressed the hypospray unit to his neck, then looked to the column of Romulan scientists and Starfleet personnel.   "I would like assistance walking him back to the earlier lab."

[ Carraya IV - Archaeological Ruins - Viper's Eye Facility ]

Deryn let most of the group walk past and into the nearest corridor to fall behind them , walking side by side with the tall Grazerite Ensign who invited her to share the position . She regularly turn her back to the group and walked a few steps backwards to check nothing was tailing them . There was more than enough room for a few people to stand shoulder to shoulder in the hallway .

" I couldn't have said it better myself . " She raised her shoulders . " Plus , i feel somewhat " naked " without a phaser . As you say , old habits die hard . Besides , with our luck during Away missions these days , i quite like it to have this beaut' between us and the enemy . " She said , tapping the stock of her type-3 rifle .

Just when Deryn finished her sentence , a shot rang through the corridor , shortly followed by a short cry . She instinctively dropped to a kneeling position , rifle up aiming towards the source of the shot . Fortunately , the Romulan who was shot was only lightly hurt and there were more than enough crew members in the medical sciences to make sure he'd be fine .

Ian nodded as Hugo worked through his options and replied.

"Makes sense ta me, we would send our findin's ta the ship for further analysis regardless of what we found, no need for the Romulans ta know who happens ta be lookin' at that data."

Ian turned from where he was talking to Hugo and walked over to join the cadet. He listened to her findings figured, now was as good a time as any ta see what was supposed to be here.

"Alright, we will be explorin' a weapons facility. We have no answers why this installation was abandoned, I want security on point. Remember, tricorders will be next ta useless here. Keep your eyes open for anything that looks suspicious as the operators may have set a defensive program or set booby traps. Mister Said and Mister Strider, take point."

[ Carraya IV - Archeological Ruins - Away Team ]

She slowly walked up to the Commander before the group formed and headed in the corridor .

" Commander , do you want me to close the march ? I don't want anything to sneak up on us or have some defence system hit us in the back or trap us in a room or something . "

In a weapons research complex that could unsettle the balance of the entire Quadrant , there were bound to be booby traps and security measures . Given Romulans had worked on this " Viper's Eye " , it was more than enough reasons to be even more careful when exploring the facility .

Besides , this was a good Away-team , Deryn would hate it if anything would happen to anyone .

Ensign Danjar-Torra Addams
[Carraya IV - Archeological Ruins]

Before heading out to the newly found chamber, Torra received a call from Don.   Her smile could not be any wider as she tapped her badge and answered the call.  "Thank you, Don! I can barely believe it!  But I couldn't have done without your support. I'll see you later tonight."

Torra accepted Kell's handshake and dipped her head in thank.  "Thank you, Ensign.   How are things going for you?  I haven't seen you around much.  Are you enjoying Ops?  I honestly miss it ....but wow, a promotion and transfer to Science.  I hope I don't disappoint my new Chief... anyways with that thought I should go catch up.  You coming along?" Torra urged the Ops officer to come with as she headed off to the chamber opening...

[ Carraya IV - Archeological Ruins - Away Team ]

" Things are going pretty well , thank you . Ops it pretty different from Tactical , still getting used to it . I just hope i'm doing a decent enough work there playing with the Ship's systems power . But you did an amazing job with your Iaba Virus research , you'll do great in Science ! "

The tall Grazerite started heading for the lab facility , and Deryn wasn't far behind .

" Right behind you . "

Not long after the Away team entered the building , they were all given express orders not to touch anything . It made sense . This all seemed very ancient and well kept , stars knew what could happen if anyone flicked a single switch . Kell wasn't very knowledgeable in the scientific and research domains , and despite an innate curiosity for things , she hated to touch things she didn't knew anyway . So she just looked around , taking one big mental picture of the place while some fellow crew mates took photographs and recordings with the remaining functions of their tricorders .

She also started to check the systems of her phaser-rifle . If the Faraday cage effect they were in were affecting the tricorders , they could be affecting some of her rifle's functions such as the target-acquisition systems , and she preferred to know before she had to pull the trigger , should they run into troubles . With the high amount of electronic systems and sub-systems Starfleet put into their weaponry , it made such rifles rather fragile and prone to malfunctions .

[Lieutenant JG Nira Said | Archeological Ruins | Carraya IV]

Nira stared at Ensign Kell for a moment. She may have felt a little rude...if the Ensign was four at the end of the Dominion War, had no specific involvement...she had no bias for the current generation, just the Cardassians of the time, the ones who helped the Dominion...

From the way Ensign Kell talked, Nira realized that she knew what to expect from people who didn't like Cardassians because of the war, especially from Betazoids, to mention Krell Moset specifically. Nira felt the need to explain further, however personal it was...

"If you must know, Ensign," said Nira, teeth grit, "my first father was murdered, along with other Betazoids experimented upon by Krell Moset, all while I was still in the womb. I was informed later, but the stories horrified me. I have nightmares about Krell Moset. However, Ensign, I have my dislike for the Cardassians involved at the time, not with the current generation. But I guess I'm a little biased anyway because of what the Dominion did to Betazed."

Nira let out a weary sigh. "I'm sorry to behave this way around Cardassians, Ensign Kell, but I suppose I understand what Bajorans went through when Moset was experimenting on them."

She felt it to be particularly cordial to apologize. A good officer, particularly if he or she had rank over another, had to be cordial.

[ Carraya IV - Archaeological Ruins - Away Team ]

" Don't get me wrong , Lieutenant , i understand your general feelings perfectly . I would be lying if i'd say i wouldn't think the same way , if i were in your shoes . I hold no love for the Dominion either , many people tend to forget it but ... their last victims were us . Cardassia Prime was practically levelled in its entirety . "

The Lieutenant's feelings were " legit " , so to say . Like most people's , actually . A lot of them had very good reasons to feel the way they did , the only thing Deryn very much disapproved of was being put in the same basket as the previous generation who had committed those crimes and potentially helped the Dominion kill millions of innocents .

" There is no need to apologise , really . Just wanted to clear things up , now that nobody's shooting at us , yet . I don't want to get off the wrong foot with anyone . But i'll leave you be now , i've borrowed enough of your time . "

She straightened and saluted . " Lieutenant . "

Not long after she walked away , the Commander made a rather peculiar announcement through the combadges to make the whole team know about PO Torra's promotion to Ensign . She was a kind , hard-working person . . Several of the nearby crew members offered her congratulations one at a time . When she could squeeze in , Deryn offered her a hand in turn accompanied by a honest smile .

" My congratulations on your well-deserved promotion , Ensign Torra ! "

Continuing to explore the local ruins , the Away mission eventually stumbled on something interesting in the ruins . A laboratory of all things , that seemed full of old technology . Everything seemed so out of this time in the lab that it almost looked like a weird holodeck sim .

[Lieutenant JG Nira Said | Archeological Ruins | Carraya IV]

Nira looked around to see who spoke to her, and for a moment, she stared in stunned disbelief. Before her was a Cardassian, in an ensign uniform.

Nira had always been biased towards Cardassians. Mostly because of Krell Moset's experiments on Betazoids to create telepathic Jem'Hadar when the Dominion invaded Betazed. Sometimes at night, in her nightmares, she was back on Betazed, back when the Dominion had taken over the planet. If there was a number one person she had to fear, it was Krell Moset. Time and again, she saw herself escorted from the beautiful fields of Betazed to Moset's lab, Moset himself looking down at her, ready to experiment...

Nira thought of Moset's experiments on Betazoids whenever she saw Cardassians in passing. It was understandable if some are in Starfleet, but she steer clear of Cardassians. And here she was, near a Cardassian.

Remembering that the Cardassian ensign had asked her about the ruins, Nira shrugged.

"It's possible," she said. "However, if there are any more skeletons, ensign, odds are, they're going to be older than this corpse. Hopefully preserved to determine examination...but that's a matter for the archaeological people."

Nira looked around. She definitely didn't want to be in the ruins, let alone in the jungle, when night fell. But it was going to be worse if she was going to be with a Cardassian. Too many negative feelings to impair her efficiency, in Nira's opinion.

Then again, she's probably one of those Cardassians who couldn't wait to get away from the Dominion, thought Nira.

"I believe I haven't been introduced, Ensign," she said, trying to hide her stiff unwillingness to sociability.

[ Carraya IV - Archeological Ruins - Away Team ]

" We have not indeed , Lieutenant . " She said , jumping from her crouched stance near the skeleton to an upright position , hand extended as a greeting gesture .

" Ensign Deryn Kell . These days you'll find me in Ops , though i originally joined Discovery as a Security Officer . I also dabble in Xenolinguistics . "

When the Lieutenant stood up , she looked ... stiff . A specific kind of stiffness Deryn had witnessed often during her time in Starfleet so far . Especially when she met Bajorans , but also a few other species , Betazoid were one of them . Deryn smiled , drily .

" I know that look . Hm ... Let me guess ... Krell Moset's experiments hurt you , or your family ? With all due respect , Lieutenant , i was 4 years old when the Dominion War ended and , well , i'm not quite related to Moset in any way . "

Deryn turned on her heels and started to walk away slowly . She didn't want to cause discomfort to her fellow crewmembers . At the same time , a young Trill girl made her way towards them , excitement visible on her face . It made Ensign Kell smile , this time genuinely .

[ Carraya IV - Archeological Ruins - Away Team ]

It had been a while since the last time Discovery made a halt around an archaeological site to send an away team . Last time they had had an unfortunate run-in with some rogue Romulans , it had been most unpleasant . Ensign Kell hoped this away mission wouldn't end the same way , although the reason they had come down was a rather odd one that could lead to much trouble . An alleged ancient artefact that could offset the current balance of power , on a planet that had been inhabited by both Klingons and Romulans no less .

So far , everything was calm . Deryn was part of the security detail alongside their new security officer , Lieutenant Said . The latter had some experience in forensics that she was putting to good use . It was a good thing that they had such a broad variety of skills among the crew of the away team .

In the meanwhile , Deryn was patrolling the area and keeping a vigilant eye open , her trusty type-3 phaser rifle slung under her shoulder . There was no sign of life so to say in the area , apart from the local fauna here and there . For now at least ...

Some time later , Lt. Said stumbled on a skeleton . A Klingon skeleton to be precise . The bone structure was very typical of their species , it was hard to mistaken them for your average humanoid . She walked to the Lieutenant and crouched near the dead Klingon .

" Do you reckon we might find more of those around these ruins ? " She asked , vaguely pointing towards the corpse with her rifle .

[Battle Bridge - Beta Hull - USS Discovery]

Ian had long since learned the most critical element of combat command was keeping track of the situation despite the chaos. For many of the crew, this was their first ship to ship action and he needed to make sure they weren't doubting themselves, because doubts led to hesitation, and that led to a bad end.

"Excellent Kell, it nae has ta last long, just for the three hulls ta synchronize our attack."

When Jensen reported the attack on Gamma, it was time to contact them and get them back into their defensive maneuver.

=/\= "Beta ta Gamma. Thach Weave!" =/\=

Sivak executed a flawless wing over and swung Beta into the attack and her phasers lashed at the Breen ship harrying their wing man without pity. Thanks to Kell's additional power and narrow focus from Jensen, the heavy Type XIIs punched a twenty meter wide hole in the starboard aft shield of the Gor-Taan. The beam's energy were completed expended making this opening, so they did no damage to the cruiser, but the two quantums that followed the beams crossed right through this opening and ripped open the ship's hull in two places. This unexpected attack was enough to make the Breen sheer off in a panic and end the attack on Gamma hull. Ian frowned when he noted the cruiser wasn't out of the fight, but it now had more important things to worry about for now and that was all that really mattered at this moment in time.

"Good shooting Lena!"

Ian eclaimed as he toggled communications.

=/\= "Beta ta Alpha, what is your situation? We and Gamma are ready ta link for an attack on the shield crusher. Are you able to lead us in?" =/\=

[ USS Discovery - Beta Hull - Battle Bridge ]

" Understood , Sir ! "

It didn't last long until the Breen started trying to circumvent the jamming signal being emitted by Beta-hull . Fortunately , it also didn't take long for Beta-hull to head back towards Gamma and Alpha and get into formation with them . Alpha had taken a beating and Gamma wasn't in the best of shapes , but all in all Discovery hadn't been too severely damaged and was still in " one " piece , that was good news .

As for the jamming signal , the fact that they were outnumbered nine to three actually played in their advantage . The scan ongoing scan for the Breen comm frequency received almost constant updates from either of the nine Cruisers around them , which allowed Deryn to modify the jamming frequency almost immediately .

[Battle Bridge - Beta Hull - USS Discovery]

Ian saw Alpha hull stagger and immediately changed his attack plan. The Shield Crusher was going to have to wait until Alpha was out of trouble.

=/\= "New orders Gamma, Alpha needs us, you take the cruiser on the left, we'll get the one on the right. Concentrate on their engines if'n you can, but the idea is ta drive them off so we can link fire and really give them summat ta think about." =/\=

"Sivak, nothing fancy this time, go straight at them, head on pass. Kanadda, continuous fire, I want them ta know we are comin', but fire on a narrow cone of fire, I want to punch their shields. Kell, keep maximum power ta the phasers and see if'n you can find a way ta jam their communications."

[ USS Discovery - Beta Hull - Battle Bridge ]

" Aye , Sir ! Power to Phasers optimal ! "

Deryn kept keying in commands and moving her hands across the consoles in front of her to compensate for the slightest drop in power to the Phaser arrays while carefully monitoring the rest of the critical systems .

They had just claimed their second victory today , pulling some fancy manoeuvres that nobody this side of the Quadrant must have ever seen and flying closely with Gamma hull to attack from several angles simultaneously . Surely those damned Breen had never expected such bold tactics from the Federation .

" Sending out a jamming signal to block enemy communications ! Scanning for their comm frequency to fine tune the signal . "

Deryn didn't expect the first , standard jamming signal to interfere with the comms and sensors for long , but as soon as her Ops console would come up with the exact frequencies the Breen used , she could send a wave that should completely paralyse their communications for at least some time .
