Richard Litt stood firm as the tension around them grew. The tremors shaking the facility, likely caused by the Horizon's fire, served as a reminder that they needed to act fast. Every second counted.

Hearing Fawkes's warning and suggestion, he thought for a moment before responding, "I think he needs to come with us and explain exactly what message he's sending and to whom." After a pause, he shook his head. "We should leave together — all of us, without exception. Now isn't the time to split up." He glanced around, locking eyes with Kinley. "Captain, we can take as many prisoners as possible now and return as soon as we can to deal with the rest or anyone who manages to escape. What do you think?". He asked Kinley and waited for her reply.

"With the Horizon this close, we only need to find a spot where the signal can reach us to request extraction," he continued, his expression tense. "But we have to move fast. If that message was a call for reinforcements, we could be surrounded soon, and that would be a huge problem."

[Ensign Lilly Hansen, K9 Lucy • Planet Surface • Carmelton Outskirts]

Lilly stood poised, every sense on high alert, while Lucy, her loyal K9 partner, sat by Kinley's side, ears perked and eyes sharp, waiting for a command. But Lilly didn't signal her just yet. They were still deep in this mess, and rushing could lead to mistakes. Lucy's patience mirrored her handler's resolve, the unspoken bond between them a testament to countless hours of training and trust. They'd both wait—ready for whatever came next.

"The Problem is getting them to where Horizon can get them, theres tons of Security here, Rather not deal with them if we really have too" Lilly told the group.

Kinley lost her drink, almost  her balance,  and nearly her grasp on the raptor as the dog came bounding towards her, "Woah doggo!" she said, her petite frame almost tumbling to the floor  under the sheer  amount of dog. The dog didn't mind, giving her copious amounts of kisses. "Hey, hey! good girl. Down!" she said, gently pushing the dog down before brushing off the fur from her now-soggy lab coat.

"If you could keep her down, it would be appreciated.  She can stay, but I don't want her to accidentally eat any chocolate tonight, y'know?" she said to Lilly, trying to ease the situation, all the while snagging one of Therem's cookies.

"That's pretty good!" she said. , enjoying the ambiance. "I didn't know burnt soup makes you feel at home, Therem. Might have to call up one of the Admirals to get cleared to make you some.  Though you might have better luck from the Raptor." she joked. "Where are you from, if I might ask? " she asked, genuinely curious as she noticed the situation happening in the back with Sven and Feeva.

"If you could keep her down, it would be appreciated.  She can stay, but I don't want her to accidentally eat any chocolate tonight, y'know?" she said to Lilly, trying to ease the situation, all the while snagging one of Therem's cookies.

Lilly sighed thankfully. "She will, She gets excited when she gets to meet new people, besides I use this as a training, She remembers Crew scents from the party, If I say a number, She remembers that scent and she searches for it, In case of something happening to a crewmemeber or even a family member" Lilly told the Captain. Lilly then bent down to Lucy. "All right girl, Stay down, Or your gonna have to go to bed." Lucy ears perked at Bed, But also thought. Bedtime already? In Trouble? What it is!. Lilly gave Lucy a few pets then stood and begun to walk around allowing Lucy to get the scents of every officer in attendance, Including the children, Lilly wanted Lucy ready to rock and roll if something were to happen.

OCC Note:This post is from Lucy's Point of View

[K9 Lucy • Planet Surface • Carmelton Outskirts]

Lucy, the search and rescue dog, watched with sharp, unwavering focus as Therem recounted his story, his steady voice soothing even to her sensitive ears. She trusted him, sensing his determination matched her own to find the captain. Therem had shared everything he knew, including mention of a new person who'd joined their team—likely the one Fawkes had hinted about. Though Lucy hadn't met this new ally, she trusted Fawkes's instincts; anyone he believed in must be vital to their mission.

Seated next to Lilly, her alert ears picked up faint sounds as she scanned the air for any trace of Kinley's scent, ready to lead the group on command. Lilly turned to Fawkes, with a determined gleam in her eyes, and asked, "So, how do we go about this now?"

Lucy wagged her tail in quiet encouragement, her muscles tensing with anticipation. She was ready for the next move, her nose primed to pick up even the faintest clue. But as the group began to talk, Lucy trotted over to Kinley and sat protectively by her side, keeping a vigilant watch while the rest of the team discussed their next steps. She knew her role—stand guard, be ready, and never let her team down.

"It is you," Fawkes said to Therem. The junior lieutenant smiled at the rock hound before turning to the others. "He's fine; more than that, he's our way in." Fawkes explained Litt's plan to Therem while moving behind the two prisoners.

"If Roshard is in there with Garrison, the room will be heavily guarded, but the objective remains the same." She nodded sharply to Litt and Hansen. "Time to get back into character. Both of you hide your weapons and hands up."

After Mr. Estraven opened the door to the interrogation room, Fawkes pushed Litt and Hansen inside. "Move, you two," said Fawkes as Roshard acknowledged her presence and acquisition. Scanning the small area, Charlotte noted Garrison, and not far behind her, there was a Lethean. The scientist knew precisely what the Leech had in store for the captain, and she didn't like it, but she had a part to play.

"Thank you, Chairman. They're not on the same level as Orphan Face or The Arabian Princess, but Solaere will pay for their release. And the dog should fetch a pretty penny as either security or stew." She moved closer to Roshard, spotting a disapproving eye from haggard Garrison. "Sorry, Captain. It's nothing personal. Now," she said, her phaser still aimed at Litt and Hansen. "Let's discuss my percentage."

Suddenly, Therem made his move, taking Rake hostage and revealing that he had a bomb. Charlotte knew the miner's capabilities. He could probably make a bomb out of an shoestring, a plastic fork, and cotton candy. The funny thing was, she was sure Mr. Estraven intended to retain his cover for the sake of the Xolos. Perhaps Therem would make a good Starfleet officer after all.

As the room burst into chaos, more guards filed in, but this was Charlotte's only shot. Fawkes aimed her rifle at Roshard, but Garrison was too close. The Lethean, however, was in plain sight. Without hesitation, she fired a heavy stun at the alien. He went down. Everyone trained their weapons on everyone else, but Therem had the trump card.

"Sorry, Louis. I guess the deal is off. I didn't want to work for such a sexist pig anyway." However, it seemed Charlotte's fears had come to fruition. The team had a desperate hostage situation on their hands. At least the Lethean was out of commission.

[Ensign Lilly Hansen, K9 Lucy • Planet Surface • Carmelton Outskirts]

Lilly watched intently as Therem recounted his story, his tone steady and reassuring. He was a trusted ally, and she could sense he was as determined as she was to get to the captain. He'd revealed everything he knew, even mentioning someone new who had joined them—likely the person Fawkes had hinted about. Lilly hadn't met this person yet, but if Fawkes trusted them, she knew they must be key to their plans.

Lucy sat at her side, her ears perked up and alert as she scanned the air for Kinley's scent, ready to lead them if needed. Lilly looked from the miner to Fawkes, appreciating their commitment to finding the captain and setting things right.

"So, how do we go about this now?" Lilly asked, her voice determined and eyes fixed on Fawkes and the Therem. She was ready for action, and Lucy was already on the lookout for their next lead, But then went and sat next to Kinley, Standing Gaurd over her while the rest of the team stood there and chatted.

Steve, while still rebooting, subconsciously purred and kicked his leg in response to the scratches, clearly enjoying the attention, even while  he recalibrated .

She nodded as she listened to Charlotte talk about the plant species she was observing. That was fascinating on its own.  "That's fascinating! The biodiversity is slowly somehow recovering after the supernova. I wonder how the adaptive radiation will be in the long term for this species as stuff bounces back. " she mused.

She smiled as Charlotte "Why thanks. He's an interesting one. Part of my long-term observation of holographic sentience. I'm watching him on behalf of his creator. Given his nature to be emotionally intelligent and aware, he has already advanced far more than a standard holographic animal. "

Seeing Theren coming in and joking about his cooking attempts, she grinned. "Believe me, you're a better cook than I am.  When I was an ensign, I really liked to cook as a hobby, but... everything I do tends to turn into some kind of disaster. I even burnt soup once. I had to formally warn my department head of when I'd be making something." She said, giving a self-deprecating shrug

(Just no Vest on)

Lilly walked in with her Search and Rescue dog, Lucy, who wagged her tail excitedly at the sight of new faces. Without hesitation, Lucy darted forward, bounding right up to Captain Garrison, her enthusiasm palpable.

"Lucy, no!" Lilly called out, urgency in her voice as she rushed after her. "I'm so sorry, Captain! I'll take her back to my quarters," she said, gently tugging at Lucy's leash.

Lilly quickly reached Lucy and pulled her back, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment. Watching Lucy interact with the captain, Lilly felt a wave of anxiety—wondering if she was late to the party—but seeing her dog so happy and welcomed eased her worries. The warmth of the moment made her feel at home, and she couldn't help but smile as she settled Lucy at her side.

Litt observed with wide eyes as Fawkes sprang into action, throwing her rifle at the guard and confronting him directly. The disruptor shot echoed through the area, and he let out a restrained breath as he saw the guard fall lifeless to the floor. When Fawkes unlocked the cell door and handed him the disruptor, he accepted the weapon with a slight smile of approval.

"Nice work, Lieutenant," he murmured, impressed by her efficiency. He gave a quick look to Lilly and Lucy, ensuring they were both ready to move. "Alright, that was the easy part. Let's keep going."

Glancing at the two, he led them out of the holding area. "After that shot, it's not safe to stay here. Our best chance is to move on and search for the captain."

Turning his gaze to Lucy, he added, "Lilly... do you think she could help track down the captain?" he asked the blonde. "If she can, it would be a huge help."

Litt then gestured for Fawkes and Lilly to follow, holding the disruptor firmly as he moved silently through the corridor. "Let's stay low-key, but if anyone appears, take them down without hesitation," he whispered to both. Moving quickly, he led the team through the facility's maze-like passages, his senses on high alert for any sign of Captain Garrison. The urgency was evident on his face; every second wasted meant a greater risk to her safety.

As they approached a fork in the path, Litt paused, studying the structure of the passages. "There's some noise up ahead," he whispered. "Let's take the right path; if we're correct, they're probably holding the captain and any other prisoners in the central sectors." He signaled them to advance, leading Fawkes, Lilly, and Lucy forward with careful determination.

Turning his gaze to Lucy, he added, "Lilly... do you think she could help track down the captain?" he asked the blonde. "If she can, it would be a huge help."

"Yes, All she need to find is a scent even if it is faint" Lilly told Litt. She followed behind Fawkes ready to find the captain.

"Agreed, Lucy will only attack if my life is threatened, Or any of yours" Lilly mentioned to Litt. Just telling him If weapons were not quick enough, Lucy would aissit.

Lucy stayed alert, sniffing the air and ground for any scent of any kind she recognized, She was trained to remember key scents of crew members, Kinley, Nira, Litt for example, All Lilly had todo was say a number, Kinley being 1, Nira 2, and so on. "Lucy, 1....Find" Lucy perked at the search command. She quickly went into fast pace but enough to not race pace Litt or the Group, She kept sniffing around and air for the Scent of the Captain.

| Lt. JG Fawkes | Science Officer | Mine Facility Entrance > Detention Area |  Carmelton Outskirts | Ciden IV |

Charlotte began to strategize as the guard, Jalud, threatened Lucy. Lilly would defend the animal, but at what cost? The guards had shown contempt for anyone in Starfleet, and Fawkes feared retaliation against Hansen. Fortunately, cooler heads prevailed, and Lucy was allowed into the mine.

Following the guards, her phaser aimed at Litt and Hansen, Fawkes entered the mine with the group. The construction was sturdier than she realized, which meant Therem was right. The Carmelton mines were prepared for an earthquake because they were the cause. She fumed internally. How many had died for that bloated leech, she wondered.

Keeping quiet, Fawkes followed Jalud and another guard to a detention area and was glad she and Therem missed that part of the tour. While Litt, Hansen, and Lucy were incarcerated, Charlotte leaned against the wall, looking bored. However, out of the corner of her eye, she watched the Orion key in a sequence on a keypad and locked the cell behind the trio.

"I'd be more worried about yourself, Lieutenant," Fawkes said mockingly, countering Litt's threat. She kept her rifle lowered, surprised no one had confiscated it. She must have played her part as a traitor well.

Jalud gave his orders to the detention guard, Hirod, and left to find Chairman Roshard. As another Orion was on the way, Fawkes had to act quickly. "Hirod, is it? Perhaps you could call Jalud and tell him to speed things up a bit. I'm in a bit of a hurry."

"Shut up, bitch, or I'll stick you in there too." The Orion turned from Charlotte, apparently disgusted that his superiors forced him to aid a Starfleet officer. "I bet they'd like that," he said, eyeing Litt and Hansen. "They get to kill a traitor, and we don't have to pay you. I bet the Chairman would like that."

"Of all the times you guards to suddenly become smart,"
remarked Fawkes with great surprise.

"Get rid of the rifle, bitch," Hirod growled, his disruptor aimed at Fawkes. The lieutenant held the rifle with both hands, ready to place it on the ground. Instead, she tossed the phaser into Hirod's face, rushing him simultaneously. Hirod stumbled back. Fawkes fought him for the disruptor. It went off.

Stepping back, Lt. Fawkes watched the Orion slump onto the ground. Quickly, Fawkes opened the door, handing the disruptor to Litt. "I think he's dead. Oh well, at least we can use the suit."

Moving across the floor, Charlotte grabbed her rifle. Footsteps echoed from down the hall. Fawkes knelt next to the dead guard, waiting for whoever was about to round the corner.

| Ensign Lilly Hansen, K9 Lucy | Mine Facility Entrance > Detention Area |  Carmelton Outskirts | Ciden IV |

Lilly watched the gaurd try to tell Fawkes to drop the weapon, Lilly would have just rushed the dude, and tried to slam him into the wall and throw a few side swings his way.

But it ended with the rifle being tossed at the guard and then a desperate struggle for the pistol, and it went off, killing the guard. "Well, that was not expected" Lilly said quietly.

She then heard footsteps and looked to see where Fawkes was looking to. Lucy perked her ears at the sound and turned her head as well ready in case of it being a threat. She growled a bit but Lilly tapped her right ear and she went quiet. The tap was a silent command Lilly had taught her in case of a problem where she needed to be quiet or when search rubble, so she didn't have to yell and so they could hear if there was tapping of any one still alive. It took months for Lucy to fully learn it, and all those months have finally paid off.

"I haven't seen one in ages since coming out here. Could I pet it while you're doing that?" he asked before his fellow guard elbowed him.  " Watch it."

While Litt spoke with the security team, Fawkes immediately commed the Horizon. "Ensign Olisa, please beam down a type three phaser rifle. Thank you." If Roshard and his men were to take her seriously, the young junior lieutenant would need heavier firepower. The lieutenant doubted she could capture Litt, Hansen, and Lucy with only her charm. Within seconds, the rifle shimmered at her feet. Fawkes picked up the weapon, a satisfied smile on her face. "Thank you, Horizon. This should do the trick," she relayed back to Ensign Olisa.

With the rifle in hand, Charlotte came to attention as Litt reviewed the mission parameters. The lieutenant's plan was solid. He had an A and B scenario, but Fawkes knew too well that plans could fall apart immediately. Still, she was nervous. Fawkes needed to retain her cover for Roshard, and that might lead to unsavory decisions on her part. A few moments later, Charlotte found herself with the others crouched behind a shale wall not far from the mine's main facility.

"All right. We're roughly 200 meters from the mine, and they'll see us before we arrive. Odds are Roshard will see through our charade, but he'll want to make a deal nevertheless." She turned to Richard and Lilly, eyeing their weapons. "If you are ready, lieutenant, ensign, and Lucy, you'll need to leave your weapons here. Otherwise, they will be confiscated. Leave them with the others." She nodded to one of the security personnel. "As far as you are concerned, I'm a traitor. Don't waver from that, and ... I'll apologize later."

Charlotte placed herself behind Litt and Hanson, her phaser rifle on safety for now. "Both of you! Hands up and move out!" Fawkes trusted Lilly to contain Lucy and marched the three past the slate wall. As promised, the entrance stood a few yards ahead. To the left was the down bird of prey, nestled deep in the sand. "Too bad we can't use that," she muttered, still driving her prisoners to the mission point.

It wasn't long before four Orion guards, brandishing disruptors, came running to intercept the four Starfleet officers. "Halt!" said the leader, whose name was Jallud. Charlotte saw the man earlier when she and Therem were captives. The same recognition spread across his face. "You? The girl with the rock hound."

"That's me,"
Char said, grinning ear to ear. "I hear taking hostages is all the rage these days, so I decided to get my own." The woman smiled at Litt as she shoved him forward. "I found them on the outskirts of Thaliij'Daihne. They were looking for Romulan survivors around the quake zone. So, there are three hostages to add to the captain and possible dead or dying Romulans. Win/Win."

Jallud approached, laughing as his three cohorts began to circle the quartet. "Why don't we take you all in?" Two of the guards watched Lilly, their eyes growing desperate.

"No," Fawkes barked. She stepped in front of Hanson with her rifle at the ready, her expression hard. "You don't get her. Not until I see Roshard and I have my 20%." Jallud growled, moving closer to Fawkes. She could feel his breath on her cheek. "You fucking idiots kidnapped a Starfleet captain," she spat. "They'll come for her and swoop down on you like a raptor." Fawkes looked up, quickly surveying the upper canyons. "I'd prepare if I were you."

Jallud grabbed his communicator, barking his orders to the rest at the main entrance. "I want men all along the canyon perimeter! If you see anything move from up there, fire! MOVE!" Grumbling, the Orion moved away from the foursome. "You three come with me, but the hound stays." He pointed his disruptor at Lucy, threatening the animal's life and their plan. "I'll contact the Chairman."

| Ensign Lilly Hansen, K9 Lucy |Thaliij'Daihne > Mine Facility Entrance | Oaish'le > Carmelton Outskirts | Ciden IV |

Lilly nodded and handed over her phaser pistol. Lucy, watching the exchange, was confused—why was she giving up her weapon?

Everything had been going smoothly so far. They'd managed to infiltrate the section they aimed for. While they hadn't yet found the captain, they confirmed the suspicions: she had been taken. Just as they were being told to follow.

"You three come with me, but the hound stays." He pointed his disruptor at Lucy, threatening the animal's life and their plan. "I'll contact the Chairman." [/color

"I'm sorry," Lilly responded, her voice firm as she met the guard's gaze, "but either she's coming, or I'm not coming." Defiance laced her tone. She wasn't about to let some low-life in a colony take the dog—no matter the cost.

Richard Litt's mind was working through possible outcomes for the mission when Ensign Lilly Hansen approached with her search and rescue dog, Lucy. The offer to help track down the Captain with Lucy was a welcome one. The situation was critical, and any advantage they could gain might be crucial.

"Good thinking, Ensign. Bring Lucy. Anything that can help us find the Captain is worth a shot," Litt responded, his tone serious but grateful.

Turning to Fawkes, who had just gathered some intel, Litt noted her diligence. The mention of the mining facility and the man responsible, Louis Roshard, sharpened his focus. When she suggested using the transporter to get ahead of the kidnappers, Litt considered the idea for a moment. It was a bold move but one that could save time—and possibly the Captain's life.

"It's risky, and we might need all the transporter power to rescue civilians from the planet, but it's worth a shot, it could be our best chance. If we can get the Horizon to find a good location for an ambush, we might have a chance to stop them before they get too far," he replied.

Litt thought for a few seconds before making his decision. "Lieutenant, coordinate with Horizon first, see if they can scan and locate the Captain; she may have already been taken to their base, and then we'll deal with an invasion." His tone was full of concern—intercepting the kidnappers en route would really be the best option. "If she's still in transit, go ahead with your suggestion, have Horizon scan the area for a good spot to ambush the kidnappers, and beam us there."

Meanwhile, he turned to the security team, explaining what their options would be.

Lilly nodded and knelt down besides Lucy to give her some attention before their search. "Alright Girl, You have been a good girl, But this one is gonna be the biggest search yet and has more importance"

Lilly then went back to attention. "Well, Where ever they took her, as long as they didn't pull a trick to cover their tracks or her Scent, we will be good to search"

Richard Litt felt the urgency in the air as he looked at Lieutenant Fawkes. The information about Captain Garrison's abduction weighed heavily on his mind. He couldn't simply ignore the call to rescue her, but at the same time, he knew the wounded civilians needed help. The dilemma consumed him for a few seconds, but his decision came clearly and firmly.

"Fawkes, you're coming with me. We need to form a small, quick team to track and, if possible, rescue the captain. You know where they're taking her, and that's our biggest advantage." He glanced around, spotting and calling over the nearest security officers. "I'll take a few officers with us. We need to move fast."

Litt tapped his combadge, his words precise and measured. =/\= "Litt to Horizon. I'm assembling an advanced team to track and locate Captain Garrison. We'll be a small, agile group. Be prepared for support if needed." =/\=

Next, he switched frequencies to the counselor. =/\= "Counselor Feeva, this is Litt. The captain has been abducted. I'm heading out with a team to rescue her. I'm leaving you in charge of continuing the evacuation and rescue efforts for the civilians and wounded. I trust you to keep things under control." =/\=

Feeva was already handling that, so Litt knew he had left the task in good hands.

After that, he also communicated with the engineering team, who were working hard to get the reactor ready and prevent further issues.

Ending the communication, he looked at Fawkes and the security officers. "Let's find the captain and bring her back."

Lilly had her Search and Rescue Dog Lucy, she also knew she could track Kinley. Lilly moved to talk to Litt. "Sir, Lucy can track Kinley if we have her scent, Even if not she could still be of help" Hansen told Litt. She was beyond pissed someone used this as a distraction to take the Captain.

Litt heard the urgency in the young Romulan's voice as she pointed to the house, partially covered by large chunks of rock. He gave a brief nod to Captain Garrison. "Aye, Captain. We're on it."

With that, he quickly followed Ensign Lilly Hansen toward the indicated location. The entrance to the house was completely blocked, and time was against them, but it seemed possible to carefully clear the area and proceed with the rescue.

Litt approached and assessed the situation beside Lilly. "This could be dangerous; we need to proceed very carefully to avoid causing any more collapses," he said, bending down to grab the opposite side of the rock Lilly was already holding.

With a slight smile, he responded to her remark. "Don't worry, Miss Lillian, I'm in good shape." He adjusted his stance, and together, they began moving the first rock to create an opening.

"I know, This was the very first class I took at Tactical Medic, They added the Basic course for This type of rescue and medical treatment, I see its coming in handy"

"We might need some Gear for the rescue, That reminds me, I just completed my Dogs Training as Search an Rescue, Haven't been on the Field yet..." She then helped pull the first piece off.

Lilly then tapped her comm badge.  =/\= Hansen to Outpost, Please Beam my Dog Lucy from my Qaruters to my location, She is already in her vest, Had a feeling she might be needed =/\=
