(First entry set before S16 Ep 2: A night at the opera)

"Lieutenant Junior Grade Mac's log stardate 79433.24," Buck began, only to realise that the computer was still staring at him blankly. He chuffed. "Start again then, computer begin personal log."

"Starting personal log, filed under: Buck McNair. Time 1000 hours. Earth standard."

He ran his hand through his hair as he thought about where he was to start as he sat down, hands interlocked and on the back of his head. "Well, first entry. Recently been assigned to USS Discovery under Captain Nevir after a long, rather overdue break away from the Fleet.  The uniform still fits, miraculously and after a quick refresher by the ships' crew, I've been left to my own devices to settle in as we make way for the Gamma Qaudrant. They call this a 'deep space exploration', though it's not for peacekeeping or to patrol our BZs but to map out some sector or another. Once I know more about where it is we're going and what we're there for, I might come back to update this."

Buck spun his chair around slowly as he shifted from his desk to his bed to lay down.

"The crew have been through quite the ordeal from what I've heard. Suffering massive losses but- you'd not think it with how it is business as usual around here. Discovery isn't too different from Challenger, or perhaps I'm just blending it all together. Except Challie had a Cetacean Lab, talking dolphins. Who'd have thunk it? Oh and the crew is quite obviously different-"

McNair, you're wanted up on the bridge 

Buck closed his eyes briefly,  I'll be right up

"Right, looks like I've been summoned, gotta go. Mac, signing out."

Any relevant comments: Once again, thank you so much to the team at SF for having me back and for me to get back into the swing of things. This hasn't been an easy decision at all, not with having Buck only very recently promoted and having some great turns in missions but with my shift pattern and work, I've noted that it has been making posting at a reasonable pace rather difficult and rather than transfer to another ship where the result may be the same, I may bow out for the time being and simply be a casual observer of the missions and perhaps once again in the future be able to rejoin and recommit.

The Lost Fleet is a great book, great start to the series written by Jack Campbell. Not sure how many people have read this series but I'm intending to read the next one and the next one after that!

Also could be useful for inspiring battles or potentially just ship names on site as well.
