Briefing Room

"From what I've read so far, they have managed to almost duplicate the Victorian Era perfectly." Kyle started. "The Southeast area of the town where Tekin's team will be, is the higher classes of society. The Northwest is the lower classes. Luckily, no plagues like those of the Earth time are around so it should be safe. But we are sending a medic with each team just as a safety precaution."

Before Kyle could answer, the Doctor spoke up.

Kyle smiled and nodded toward the Medical expert. "You heard the man." he said with a slight laugh.

"You'll all report to Sickbay from here and as soon as the Doctor has the alterations completed, you'll be ready to depart." It was then that Kyle allowed a big grin to cross his face as he stepped back to the wall monitor. "And in case if of you were interested, these are the Calabarians......

[Conference Room]

Even though he knew what they looked liked, Nevir still couldn't help but be surprised at the sight.  Mostly because his face was going to be surgically altered to look like that... the tusks themselves were enough to give him chills, but just the fact that his racial defining characteristics were going to have to be covered up was almost disrespectful to him.  Alas, the wonders of scientific exploration.

"In the meantime, I'll have information for each of you on a PADD in the science lab.  There are some very important cultural subtleties that will give us away if we are not careful.  Terms that you might not be familiar with, since the translators don't catch the true meanings." he said, standing up.  He had a report to make anyways, and a letter to write to Hrafn.. and then of course, put away his earring.. there would be no hiding that.

Briefing Room

Katcha got up from her chair and carrying her bag, exited the briefing room. She caught up with Nevir and placed a hand on his arm.

"May I have a vord in private Kommander?" She asked, wondering how he had managed to make it from a suspected Ensign to Lieutenant Commander in a few weeks.

Nevir has just walked out of the room when he felt a hand on him, and the Russian FCO went for his attention.  The Bajoran turned to her, and nodded, holding his hand out towards the turbolift.

"After you." he said, following her in as he made for the officer's desk.

As the lift started to move, he decided to break the ice.  "I never got a chance to thank you for your help with Ruthie.  I don't think we could have done it without you.  So what can I help you with?" he said, turning to the other companion in the turbolift.

[Conference Room]
Kyle stood as the Doctor took his seat and spared a moment to look at his Senior Staff. He straightened his uniform before speaking.

"No worries, Doctor. We're just getting started." he began. "First. I'd like to introduce our newest Chief Flight Officer, Lt. Filitov. Welcome to the Discovery. If there's ever anything you need, I have an open door policy. Please don't hesitate to come see me. And thank you to everyone for being so prompt to our briefing."

He took a few steps back so that he could activate the wall monitor.

"I'm sure some of you have heard some things about our mission, so let's get into it." He activated the screen and  a beautiful, blue, almost Earth like, planet appeared. "This is Calabar. Currently, it can best be described as the equivalent of Earth's Victorian Era." He went on to describe how the Observation Team was put into place and the recent rumors of their being discovered and the effects it was having on the community of the city as a whole. "It has since been brought to my attention that the Observation team had actually been divided into two locations. That means twice the man power for Away Teams and twice the work to try to get everything and everyone out of there as quickly and quietly as possible."

He tapped a few commands and the image changed to that of a city map.

"This is Slita. It's basically their capitol city. The two circled locations indicate the Observation Teams locations. The one down here in the South East area is the one near their "City Hall" if you will and is where the troubles are said to have started. Excuse me." he said as he reached for his glass of water. After replacing it on to the table, he continued. "Commanders Wu, Pardek and myself have already discussed teams. We've evened them out with members from all departments. Ops and Engineering will work together on removing any and all equipment and information. Medical will assist with any, well, medical issues discovered. Commander Pardek will lead Team one and she will be joined by Kaz, Brooks and Cottle. That team will clear the Northwest Observation post. Team two will be led by Commander Tekin and will also include Filitov, Reyes and Zex." He looked over at Nevir. "You guys will have the Southeast post. It may be a little more difficult as that's the one where everything started and is constantly under surveillance."

He left the city image up so that it could be studied as he slowly began to walk around the room.

"I can't express how important it is that this mission be done as clandestine as possible. However, on the off chance that something does go wrong and any of you are seen by the locals, we're going to have Doctor Zollin here do some alterations on each of you so that you will blend in. He has all the information needed and will get started as soon as we conclude here." Kyle added. "Are there any questions so far?"

[Conference Room]

Nevir remained relatively quiet.  Most of the information on the planet and culture was in his hands, and while he would never assume to be an expert on this pre-warp culture, he was the closest they would probably have with one.

Which was good, considering Nevir would be leading the team that had the hardest part.  They would be naturally suspicious to say the least, and the fact that this was the capital city meant playing the part of government workers would be more difficult.  When Kyle mentioned alterations, Nevir's hand went straight to his nose.  It was too be expected, again.

"Do we know why Starfleet didn't follow standard protocols?  Who thought it would be a good idea to put a covert observational post in the middle of their capital city?"

[Bridge]

"Thank you, Crewman." Kyle said as he signed off on the requests.

Now that they were under way once again, Kyle decided it was time to brief the Senior Staff. As he looked around the Bridge, he was still aware of the absence of COO, Sukal. Kyle had made it his personal mission to get the man back on to a ship and just as quickly, he had to take some emergency LOA. His Acting Chief of Ops, Lt Cooper would attend the staff meeting along with Tekin, Pardek and Filitov from the Bridge crew. Kaz would have to come up from Engineering. And Doctor Zollin from Sickbay. He tapped the comm button after clearing his throat.

=^=Briggs to all Senior Staff. There will be a briefing in the Conference Room in fifteen minutes. Briggs out.=^=

He turned and smiled at the young Crewman that had just brought him the reports. They were cruising smoothly so he saw no issues with a little training. He stood and straightened his uniform.

"Crewman Reyes. You have the Bridge." he said as he headed for the Conference Room.

[Conference Room]

Once he entered the room, he went about his usual task. He approached the replicator and ordered up cold water and glasses for everyone. It had become more of a form of relaxing before a meeting than anything else. He distributed the glasses and pitchers around the table and walked over to the window. He loved being out here. He often found himself missing that special someone he had left back in Ireland to restart his career. He wondered what she was doing now. He continued to stand there as he waited on the others to arrive.

[Bridge]

Not hearing an answer from the science lab, the Bajoran had no choice but to nod to the Captain as he called for the senior officers.  Sighing mentally, he signaled for his science crewman to take the station.  He debated calling one of his officers, however with the poor crewman taking the command station, he didn't want to disrupt the chain of commend with an officer outranking her.

[Conference Room]

Nevir stepped in, heading to a seat near the Captain.  No doubt this would be a mission briefing, and by that regard he made sure he had information on this prewar civilization.  It was going to be very interesting.

"Captain." he said, nodding to his senior officer, and taking his seat.  It would be prudent for the Captain to start before he said anything.

[Primary Labs, Deck 4]

Tucked away in the saucer section, a scientist sat slumped at his console. His uniform was a little ruffled, and could probably do with re-replicating. Dimitri brushed some imaginary dust out of a fold in the fabric of his blouse, where his comm-badge dug in a little. He rubbed his eyes, and was reaching for a swig of now-cold coffee when he felt an almost imperceptible shudder. He smiled and straightened in his seat.

It was the kind of shudder you only got when around three million tonnes of starship sprung into warp speed, and the superstructure stretched as it was pulled back by a dampening field of almost equal magnitude. Dimitri knew he couldn't feel it, but imagined the sensation of every atom in his body briefly resettle a few angstroms further apart. On the far side of the lab, a console began to chatter as readings from the navigational deflector were returned.

He smiled. It was time to get to work. He tapped at his breast with a finger.

=/\= Science, Bridge. Is anyone on the console up there? =/\=

Dimitri stifled a yawn, but stretched, his neck clicking a little as he stood.

[Bridge]

Nevir was feeling much better than he was on the last mission... things were finally looking up.  Sufficiant doubt had been cast on his guilt thanks in part to the events of the last mission, as well as long awaited testimony for Hrafn, who was now ready to drop the divorce proceedings.  While there was discussion of leaving posts, especially to keep the family together, they both figured for now that they would keep on their current posts.  Nevir's primary concern was for Ruthie's recovery.

The Bajoran shook his head as the call came in, and glanced to the Captain.  "Must not know me..." he said, tapping his head.

=/\= "This is Lt. Commander Tekin.  I would advise that you assume I'm competent enough to have the bridge station staffed at all times.  What can I help you with?" =/\= he said, leaning back.

"Feels like things are getting back to normal."

Oh, a note for security... I called saying there was a break in and then left the room.  Feel free to walk in and find the incriminating evidence.

[Briefing Room]

"I'm beginning to think you're correct, Mister Tekin." Kyle replied. "Not only was there the incident with your shuttle but we've also had a murder here on board the Discovery. We haven't been able to lock down the murderer as of yet. Doctor Vaughan is going over her autopsy again while Commander Pardek is reviewing the files and videos once more."

Kyle continued to fill in the Science Officer.

"And I believe our killer was afraid you might find something down there on the planet and that's why they sabotaged the shuttle." Kyle added. "But don't worry. We'll get them. Just log your report and don't worry about anyone coming down on anyone." Kyle said as he stood and rest a reassuring hand on the young Bajorans shoulder. "I've gotta go see a Doctor."

Kyle exited the the Briefing Room and headed for the lift. On his way there, something blew out of an air vent, right past his face. He wasn't sure what it was so he swatted at it like an insect.

"That's it!" he exclaimed as he took off running for the turbolift. Orellius infection. He remembered reading about it in the Academy. Basically, it is an affliction that is transmitted by an insect native to the Class M world colonized by Alixus. There is no known cure for the disease and symptoms include swelling, high fever and purple splotches. "Someone must have brought some of the venom on board." he said to himself as the lift came to a halt. He hurried into the Autopsy Room. "Doctor!" he called out. He explained his thoughts as he reached her side.

"Someone must have brought some aboard as a "just in case" scenario." he said. "Can you scan all the dignitaries?" he asked. "Maybe we'll get lucky and find one that isn't as they appear."

[Briefing Room]

It wasn't a very settling thought.  The lives of two fine officers were nearly extinguished because of him.  Three.. only the third was extinguished.  There had to be a reason.. there had to be something...

Nevir walked out of the briefing room, waving his hand to the science officer standing there, and took the turbolift to his deck.  He needed rest... or at least needed to get away.

[Tekin Personal Quarters]

The doors gave a small delay as they opened, and Nevir barely thought anything of it.  He stode over to his bed and lied down, stretching himself as he stared at the ceiling, his mind racing at warp speed as he tried to figure out what was going on.  The chip might be salvaged of data, but he had a feeling it was a lost cause.  Without any kind of recovery, he would be left with just a burnt chip to explain the shuttle crash.  Prophets, if the culprit was completely clean with the chip, there was be no record of the actions in the computer either.

Nevir sighed and looked up.. looking for the holo he kept of Hrafn.  It was there, next to the image of his children and the floating ore he kept from his first mission.....

The Bajoran shot up in bed, staring at the rock.  It was subtle, but it was moved, or at least disrupted.  The axis of rotation had shifted, and now it was moving in a different direction.  He couldn't have done so.. because he always made sure to fix it.  Only because he held significance with the placement.

"Computer, any unauthorized entrances into my room?"

=/\= Negative. =/\=

Nevir walked over to his office desk and brought up the computer, careful not to touch the evidence of a break in.  No break ins didn't mean anything when the person was seemingly skilled with altering computer logs.  "Computer, display all activity on this deck, sector 24A." he said, calling up the sensor logs.  He only got as far as the time index before they took off in the shuttle when the sensor logs showed a standard maintenance cycle.  When it came back, there wasn't anything out of the ordinary.

Disgruntled, he opted instead to go another route, and looked around the desk.  Some of his PADDs were in a messy array, but he had done so.  There were a mix of science reports and his own investigation into the Challenger, nothing out of the ordinary still.  The Bajoran folded his hands and shook his head.

"C'mon.. you're smarter than this... there is a reason why the rock moved... a reason why the sensors were down... a reason why someone was mur-"  The Bajoran stopped, and looked up.

"Computer, who among the crew is no longer showing on sensors?"

=/\= Lieutenant Timothy Hobbs is no longer registered on sensors. =/\=

"Where was his last location?"

=/\= Deck 6, Section 5 =/\=

Nevir thought for a moment, and then brought up the service record of the late Lieutenant.  There... that's what he was looking for.  Hobbs was on the Challenger in a previous assignment, and was serving aboard when he disappeared.  He looked through the man's service record on the Challenger, and saw the exact planet they were currently on.

"No...." he started, before he looked down at his PADD.  There was one about the mission to this planet, and the science survey of what was on the planet.  What was curious, though, was that the paragraph displayed was about the entomology... including the different toxins...

Nevir glanced back at the rock... it was sitting on a portion of the desk where his drawers were.  Being careful, he opened the drawer, and saw it.  A level 4 biohazard vial and hypospray.  Empty.  He went back to the notes.  There was a toxin that appeared similar to the poison of the Borgia plant... in fact it was listed right there on his desk.  He made sure not to touch the items, and instead tapped his commbadge.

=/\="Security, be advised that my quarters were broken into.  Sensors for my section were offline for a good portion of time.  Tekin out."=/\= he said, standing up and walking out.

[Sickbay - Morgue]

It didn't take long for the Bajoran to find the two, and he bit his lip.  Lizzie was a good friend of Hrafn.

"Captain... I think I know what happened to the officer.  He may have been..." he started, before realizing that the man was on the table, and the purple splotches told him they probably already knew.

"There is a toxin here similar to the poison used by Romulans from a Borgia plant.  And I think someone planted the murder weapon in my quarters.  I found the vial and a hypospray."

Briefing Room

"I'll be down shortly, Doctor. I have another matter to attend to. Go ahead and get started." Kyle said.

He waited until everyone else had left before returning his attention to Tekin.

"Don't worry about names right now. Tell me more about the shuttle." he said.

Nevir was quiet as the others conversed, and it became from the words between the Captain and Lizzie that this meeting was not in fact, because of the shuttle incident.  Something else happened.  Somethin bad.

"It would appear that this diplomatic mission has become anything but... " he said, when the Captain addressed him.

"We were just in our final descent, about halfway through the atmosphere when the shuttle alerted us to a status change on the Discovery.  While I was trying to find out what happened, the panel dimmed and shut of, as well as the engines.  Even the air seemed to stop circulating.  When the back-up systems didn't come on, we realized we were flying dead stick.  Nothing I've ever seen, the shuttles are designed with redundancies just for this kind of situation.  It just felt like... like the shuttle was just killed completely of all power.  Jiseth did her best to keep the shuttle relatively steady, and I used the volcanic vents and the manual release of the plasma injectors to interrupt our descent for a survivable crash landing.  I don't know where you found her, Captain, but that Romulan is one hell of a pilot.  I can almost guarantee Sukal and myself would not be alive if it wasn't for her."

He took a breath, and then sighed.  "We tried everything, but because of the power loss we feel extremely short of our intended landing side... we were right in the region between the volcano and the incoming hurricane.  The only thing functional was the Argo, so we took our emergency beacon and headed for shelter.  Even the beacon was dead until we rigged it into the Argo's systems.  It's... way too perfect and convenient for this to be a catastrophic accident.  It takes intent and an understanding of systems to be able to rig together every single system on that shuttle to overload and die at the same time.  No matter where that shuttle was going, it would have meant disaster.  Either a dead brick in space, or a crater on the planet."

Nevir glanced out the windows and then back to the Captain.  "I know this may sound paranoid, but I know that you and Commander Wu are not the only ones who know of my recent history.  If anyone one else on this ship believes the charges I'm accused of, they might have been trying to take out their own justice.  This isn't a large ship, all it takes is either an attempt on my life, or suspicion of wrongdoing with Starfleet, and the brass will down on both of us, especially me.  However, there is also this..." he said, gesturing at the now empty room.

"What did Dr. Vaughan mean by morgue, Captain?"

Kyle turned and looked at the Crewman who had just entered. He recognized him from the Personnel files he had been reading prior to having to join the negotiations.

"At ease, Mister Ainsley." Kyle directed. "We're discussing that now." He continued to listen as the others spoke as he also went back to reading the autopsy report. "Doctor? What have we learned about these spots or splotches? Whatever they are?" he inquired. Something about them tickled the back of his mind.

As she began to reply, the doors parted again and the Chief Science Officer walked in.

This was all Kyle needed. More problems. Because an unsolved murder wasn't enough. But he had known Nevir long enough to know that he wouldn't have barged in and said anything if it wasn't important. "Report." he said.

[Briefing Room]

The Captain was not happy, that much was clear... and something happened.  Were they already aware?

"Sir... en route to the surface, the shuttle had a complete cascade failure.  And I mean complete.  Propulsion, inertial dampeners, life support, all secondary and backup systems.  Everything went dead.  We were able to avoid a fatal crash thanks to Jiseth's expert flying but..."

Nevir still carried the one object that was a serious concern, and pulled it out and placed it on the table.  The scorched, yet directly burned out chip. "Closer inspection showed this chip to be the possible cause.  Sir, the chip fried out before the shuttle itself fried, and the fact that every system was inexplicably rerouted through the relay the chip was located in... we are looking at expert incompetence... or worst.  And to be candid, you know the seriousness of a shuttle incident involving me."

[Bridge]

Alex hadn't even made it to the turbolifts before Ops reported the shuttle onboard, his eyebrows raised in surprise. That kind of flying must've meant Jiseth was at the helm. "Very well, have Lieutenant Alpha send me a report of injuries once they're done in sickbay."

"Uh...Sir, Sickbay's currently being covered by Doctor Neebz, Lieutenant Alpha's been confined to quarters."

"Well who the..." Alex checked his tone, feeling frustration bubbling up. "Nevermind. Have Neebz send up the report when it's ready." Tapping his commbadge, he sat back down in the command seat. =/\="Wu to Alpha, report to my office immediately. Wu, out."=/\=

The opening turbolift doors caught Alex's attention, and he stood, greeting the newly returned science officer. "Glad to see you back and in one piece. I assume you'll have a story to tell about what happened." Alex nodded in the direction of the briefing room. "Captain's holed up with some of the other senior staff, we've had...a problem onboard. Anything I can help you with?"

[Bridge]

Nevir responded with a raised eyebrow.  A problem?  That was vague enough to show that whatever issue it was had to be kept reasonably quiet.

"I'm assuming the delegation is still aboard.  We had a very serious issue on the shuttle as well, one that either screams incompetence or... something worse.  And as you're probably aware, if my name gets attached to that shuttle report, Starfleet will be on us before we leave orbit.  If you'll excuse me... " he said, rather grimly, and turned towards the briefing room.

He debated on actually entering the room, but Wu's explanation was a bit of a concern as well, and there were at least two senior staff officers who weren't on board.  Blast it, if the Captain reams him for it, so be it.

He stepped in, and stood just inside the door, letting them closed.  He waited for a break in the conversation, hopefully for the Captain's attention, and then spoke.

"Sir, we had a serious issue on the shuttle, one that... looks very bad."

[Aegeus]

Normally the approach was done under minimal thruster input, but Jiseth was coming in at near full impulse and gave little regard to the amber caution lights on her display. In terms of relative velocity the Discovery may as well have been a stationary object no different than any other landing on a planet.

It was not until they had passed under the roll bar of the secondary hull that she began to decelerate. The forward viewport grew partially obscured from the sudden release of gases from the thrusters. The shuttle came down to land in the center of the runway along the axis of this ship. In her current mood, she cared little to park it herself. She was already standing by the time the landing struts made contact and hopped down the boarding ramp before it even fully opened.

[Shuttlebay]

There was a small gathering of personnel glad to see they had returned safely, but their smiles disappeared swiftly when they saw the enraged Romulan stomping towards them.

"Fall in! I SAID FALL IN, ALL OF YOU! I don't know what you've heard about me, but when I take a shuttlecraft I like knowing it'll get me home in one piece and not end up in a ditch on a planet going through the Klingon equivalent to puberty! The CSO and COO have informed me that the cause of the crash was caused by a faulty circuit board and I have absolutely no patience for finding out who did the last inspection because it could have happened to any of you. Any of you could have let this happen! You all have brought dishonor to the squadron as well as the ship! And if you don't want to be stricken with the uncomfortable sensation of my robotic foot forcibly entering your lower digestive tracks, you will assist the crash investigation and that will be your highest priority because as far as I'm concerned YOU OWE ME FOR ONE ARGO SHUTTLE! DISMISSED!"

She turned and stormed off towards the nearest set of orange doors. Her office was to be her destination when she entered the corridor, but she did an about face swiftly and made way for Zero's quarters. There was a small child that needed to know her daredevil mom was still quite alive.

Nevir had to admit, he was a bit white knuckled as Jiseth brought the shuttle in, but it was clearly more of an emotional reflection of her state than any kind of mishap.  If anything could be said, he had absolutely full confidence in Jiseth's flying capabilities, and made a mental note to request her in the future.  As they departed the shuttle, Jiseth was already going Kira Nerys on the flight crew, and Nevir decided not to stick around too much.  Besides, he had to head off any intelligence that would link the Bajoran to the shuttle incident.  Already he could feel the eyes of Starfleet ready to send him packing to New Zealand.

[Bridge]

It wasn't too much of a surprise that the Captain was not on the bridge, but the only person he could really trust about his situation was the Captain.  Taking a breath, he walked over to the XO.

"Back on board, finally.  I need to speak with the Captain urgently, is he busy?" he asked Wu... hoping that he would be able to speak with someone at least.

It was a mad dash to the shuttle, or at least what the Romulan could muster against a quite fit Vulcan, from the cave entrance. She at first attempted to keep up with Sukal, but after a fall into the brown water and mud it became apparent she would not win that race. There was an annoying sense of gratitude when he helped her up and on board the Aegeus.

Taking the copilot seat, she adjusted it back to suit her stature as the rear ramp door closed. Filling out the paperwork for a cleaning crew seemed to be a welcome relief as she wiped her mouth with her right shoulder. Glancing briefly to Eli, she looked him over and whatever meter that was in her head that measured the worth of another person ticked a touch higher. They were still getting used to each other yet insofar as their expectations of each other were concerned, neither had disappointed.

"We're going."

At her behest, the shuttle jerked into the air as the landing struts raised and wings folded out. The inertial dampeners took most of the fun out of flying. All the feedback from shifting air currents and subtle nudges away from the desired course were gone. Even the rather enjoyable feeling of being pressed back into the seat was dulled to essentially the weight of a piece of paper on her chest.

The impulse engines were at 110% and the craft following a long arch to port, coinciding with the counterclockwise rotation of the storm, as it climbed. There were hints of vibrations, but they faded away once past the sound barrier. Heat building up on the outer hull was well within limits and the plasma coolant reservoir near full capacity. In her mind, all they had to do was sit back and wait.

"Nevir. Sukal. Thank you..."

"If you can do it... increase the dampeners to 125%" he said to whoever else was at the controls.. if anything he was going to try to make their return trip as pleasant as possible.  Following another scan as the storm came through, he found the safest corridor and Jiseth took the control expertly.

As they sailed up, turning to her he could tell that Jiseth was really uncomfortable on the planet, and she wanted to get out as fast as possible... even at the risk of death.  When she thanked the two of them, Nevir finally let himself relax.

"Next time... next time we'll go for something a bit calmer." he said, turning towards the others in the shuttle.

Quote from: Leela Kaz on July 20, 2016, 06:32:27 AM

With Jiseth taking the controls of the craft Leela let out an audible sigh of relief. She was, in no significant measure, a trained pilot. She definitely had a firm grasp of the basics but she knew her skills would never reach that of Jiseth's. Regardless of her personal opinions, the Trill had never met a better pilot. Watching Jiseth take the controls Leelas mind found itself drifting, momentarily, to another dangerous flight. Given everything Jereda went through, Leela always found it interesting that any of the Kaz hosts could step foot into a shuttle.

With Jiseth manning the helm Leela's attention turned to the colleagues she had helped to rescue. "Is everyone alright?"

"Cuts and scratches, nothing to dangerous thankfully.  We have a hell of a pilot." he said, turning back to the seated woman.  He then turned to check on Sukal, and brought his head back to Leela.

"When we get back.. we potentially have a problem.  I hate to say such an outrageous thing, but we all came to same conclusion.  Our shuttle was sabotaged.  Systems completely fried, even the backups.  We came in like a brick, and were lucky we weren't out in space when life support went out." he said, pulling out the container with the scorched chip.

"And it all seemed to start with this chip.  It seemed to have ignited before the shuttle lost power... I think we are looking at the start of the shuttle's death."

Tag to second shuttle team... sorry for the delay

Quote from: Leela Kaz on July 19, 2016, 05:43:13 AM

As Leela peered through the view port a bright orange light, near a cavern entrance caught her attention. "That's them!" She exclaimed. They must have taken refuge in that cavern. She broke from the holding pattern and prepared the shuttle for a final landing sequence. Leela gently moved the hatch towards the opening of the cavern and began a decent. "Reversing thrusters to slow the decent." With a light thud the shuttle made contact with the surface.

=/\="Aegeus to away team. Jiseth can you hear me? Are you prepared for extraction."=/\=

With the signal sent Leela brought down the hatch and awaited the teams response. The Trill couldn't help but to hope that the renown Discovery pilot would volunteer to take the helm. In eight life times Kaz had been many things, unfortunately a pilot was not one of her symbionts former occupations.

Nevir was unable to really explain what was going on until he heard the sound of a phaser behind him.  Jiseth was evidently restless.  He bit his tongue and calmly watched the shuttle get close.  As soon as the door was open, Nevir climbed aboard.

"You guys are insane, you've entered the eye of a strong storm, and the back wall is already crossing over the ridge.  I'm not sure if you'll have time to take off.... plus... we've run into a disturbing revelation as to what happened to our shuttle.  Jiseth.. its your call, but as Chief Science Officer, I highly recommend we all hunker down until the storm passes."
