Character Bio: Barik joins Starfleet after the tragic capture of his mother, wife, and daughter. During a smuggling negotiation gone horribly wrong, a rogue Kardassian pirate, Brulgak Ghak, sniffed out Barik's plan to rip him off and ordered his crew to take his ship and family hostage until Barik paid him double the amount of latinum bars initially promised. Having no way to make the money on his own, Barik was struck with the idea he could travel with Star Fleet and become richer than he ever dreamed if he could use his mechanical genius to earn the trust of Star Fleet's crew by working as a ship's engineer. He could maintain a ship better than any hu-man, no question, and he knew that as he gained the crew's trust he would have less oversight and could resume his smuggling operation...now under the protection of a Star Fleet vessel. He salivates thinking of all the latinum he will soon be making. Getting his family back would be a nice bonus too.

Barik is actually quite respectful of Star Fleet and is, somewhat, honored to wear their uniform. He has no intention of harming the ship or its crew. In fact, he plans on doing an extraordinary job as an engineer/mechanic. The better he does, the more money he can make, after all.

Barik married a Klingon woman at a young age. This is because he has spent much time among them, his family once had a shop operating on the Klingon world. Because of this connection, he is more aggressive than many Ferengi, and in the rare times he is not plotting ways to make more money, he enjoys sport such as arm wrestling and drinking games.

Sample post: Barik fumbles the crowbar in his shaking hand as he hears someone's footsteps quicken around the corner of the hall. It hits the ground, the metal thud echoing through the corridor. Shoot, he mutters, picking the crowbar back up as the unknown officer's steps quicken at the sound. Barik wedges the bar back into the wall panel, in a rough little section he's been working on for a while, and miraculously the panel pops open just in the nick of time. Barik doesn't bother taking a moment to sigh in relief. He reaches in his shirt and feels around until his fingers find the makeshift pocket he'd sown there and grabs out a handful of latinum slips which he throws hurriedly into the panel. His eyes grow wide with joy and he can't help smirking as the slips fall down the growing pile of latinum he keeps stashed in this compartment.

"Who's that!?" comes a loud female voice down the hall.

Barik shoves the panel back into place, cursing under his breath. He looks up, frowns.

"Kinska," he grimaces, standing up. He doesn't bother hiding the crow bar as she approaches. His superior has a look that could kill. He decides he may need the bar for a different purpose if this conversation doesn't go his way.
