[Cargo Bay]
While Challenger's team assembled in the transporter room, Rayek headed down to the Cargo bay to speak to his team directly.   During his absence on the Bridge, all sign of their impromptu living quarters had been removed from the Cargo Bay and only Cloten's smuggled cargo that remained.

"We'll be docking with the Breen station momentarily.  As planned, we will keep out of sight as the first of the cargo is off loaded then one by one slip out from hiding and assume the role of base personnel moving Cloten's cargo from here to their cargo area. We will meet up in the emergency stairwell behind the cargo area.  Try not to look conspicuous."

Rayek signaled for them to hide as the ship's alert system announced an imminent docking.

At the sign, he went out and picked up a crate. Don't be suspicious. he thought, trying to maintain the act and and remain calm. , When it was safe, He motioned for Ensign Lorut to follow him. They had to get into the computer core, a place at the end of a labrynth of hallways and corridors.

Commander Rayek tr'Lhoell
[SS Abandon-All-Hope - Cargo Bay >>> Breen Base - Cargo Bay] - AWAY TEAM (DAY 3 16:15hrs)

It didn't take long for Cloten's ship to dock with the Breen Base - 10 minutes tops.  Because this was a business transaction, the ship has docked directly onto the Breen's cargo hold.  So when the large bay doors opened it fronted to a Bay far more packed that Cloten's ship if that was possible.

Rayek crouched in wait for the opportune time to slip out of hiding and join the half dozen Breen already moving cargo.  He waited for the few to return to the Breen base before signalling the first individual to go.   He had intended that individual to be one of the more expendable Security personnel but that didn't happen.  Rather a miscommunication occurred.

Rayek would have facepalmed if it were possible do to so in his suit without it making a noise or looking suspicious.   He waited - ready to come out of hiding shooting if the breen in the area took exception to Kirayoshi's presence.  But there was no hostile reaction.   Rayek followed O'Brian's progress over his helmet's display.

It was possible for Rayek to identify Kirayoshi O'Brian from the real Breen because each of their suits had a been installed with the Universal translators which Rayek (and the others on the Away team) could track.

With the plan seeming to be working, Rayek motioned for the others to one by one move out of hiding and make their way to the emergency stairwell, where the plan was to have them meet up again to make their way up 8 levels the central computer core - according to their sneaked-out schematics.

However, no sooner had Rayek in disguise picked up a cargo crate than one of the 'true' Breen approached Commander O'Brien and Ensign Lorut.

There came a shrill metallic, synthesized noise that Rayek's universal translator translated into words.

"You two come with me!"  The Breen gestured the two back towards Cloten's ship.

[Lieutenant JG Jael Sherem | Cargo Bay >- Breen Cargo Bay | S.S. Abandon-All-Hope >- Breen Station]

"I hear you," said Jael as Rayek gave his briefing. Now that they were close, she felt eager to get going. Messing with her father's Borg salvage operation was definitely more satisfying than getting direct revenge. She had spent three days getting used to her Breen suit, remembering how to behave like a Breen, from what was recalled when there were instances of disguising as Breen in the past.

Once they were ready, Jael got her helmet thoroughly in place and was prepare to follow Rayek out, but then the O'Brien boy squeezed past her, along with Lorut.

No concerns for their safety, are they? Jael thought to herself. As such, she came out after Lorut and took in Rayek - and she knew full well it was Rayek from their time together drilling in disguise - gesturing to head for the stairwell. She remembered the drill: Head up the emergency stairwell to the computer core. She resisted the urge to flinch when she heard a Breen - a real Breen - call out and saw O'Brien and Lorut pointed out by a real Breen.

Oh, that's not good
.

Back at Cloten's cargo bay, Rebecca Sisko waited her turn, planning on going last to take point, though intending to follow Mister Gohun out to cover him, as he and Lorut were essential in this operation.

Ian blinked in surprise to hear the other ships were deferring to him, but if that was what was being offered, he'd certainly take it.

Nevir gripped his chair as the bridge shook.  Dem was handling combat very well, and it made leading a bit easier.  Especially for what was quickly becoming a more serious issue than just a faux chase.  The Breen ships were never something to scoff at, and it would appear that the Breen have only continued to progress.

"We'll hold off on the MVA for the time being.  One solid target right now is better than three smaller targets.  Remember we are here to get the away team on board."

"Find that weak point and target it, Mr. Broadshire. Let's try to bat these ships away.  Miss Garrison, do we have an update from Challenger or other sources?"

She turned to Dem as the ship continued to be rocked by fire. It was almost impossible to hear right now.  The Challenger was covered, but there still were some ships to deal with. Ideally they'd be getting the away team out soon, but suddenly,  Ensign Rajagopalan piped up. "œUm, I-I think we have a problem. We-We've got some more enemy reinforcements coming in! Fast! Kinley looked at the scanners. He was right.  Several small Dominion fighters were inbound and bearing closer.    "œWe need to get them off our tail. What's the status of the ships? "œ she asked. If they were going to keep taking this beating, they needed to have the ship running.

Gohun walked through the hall trying to look as natural as possible. Now the station was designed to go in a circle just like deep space nine. While Gohun knew the format he kind of forgot where the computer control room. Fortunately, Gohun was not leading the way which meant that they may not get lost. The most important thing was to look natural. Gohun looked behind him and noticed that Rebecca Sisko was following him. The key to this mission was their disguises not their melee skills.

The crash and clatter of assorted electronic parts and stem bolts drew the Romulan's attention briefly.  But more importantly, it drew the attention of the true Breen who started 'yelling' at the disguised O'Brian.  The limits of the Universal Translator were discovered when half the man's words were nothing but electronic garbled noise.

".....! Save me from careless ......! Pick that up now, you ......!"

The Breen turned to towards Lorut. "You help xem."

Then the static volume lowered and bits and pieces could be heard as the Breen strode past the other away members exiting the ship as he entered Cloten's cargo bay.  ".. things done right... do it yourself... "

Relieved at the break they had been given, Rayek dropped his cargo off and immediately headed to the muster point - the stairwell - while the true Breen continued to unload Cloten's ship

Once everyone had gathered, Rayek signaled Jael to take point and looked to Lorut to direct their route.  The only way the Romulan was able to distinguish her from any other of the team was that on his visual display her surname was noted.

"You know the route best.  Keep in constant comms with Lieutenant Sherem and guide her to the core."

The route through the corridors and levels of the Breen base were not direct nor very intuitive.  In some cases, to go up to the next deck, the team had to travel down two, across from port to starboard, and then back up again because of sealed bulkheads and other blockages.   Thankfully these blockages had been listed on the schematic and should have been accounted for when Lorut picked out the routes they would take.   The Bajoran Ops ensign had done so well enough in practice in the Holodeck, that Rayek had confidence she would do likewise in the field.

An explosion from the back alerted him that the weapons fire was starting to overwhelm defenses.  Nevir instinctively ducked despite the fact that he was seated and should theoretically be far enough away.  But it was the Bajoran in him reacting. Finally, he got the information he needed.

"Alright, I think we played our part well enough.  Prepare a spread of aft torpedoes, dispersal pattern Tekin-1.  Bridge to Engineering, prepare for emergency warp, take power from Alpha's core if needed.  Helm, set course for fallback point alpha."

Once he had confirmation, he gestured with his hand.  "Fire!"

The ship gracefully banked as it turned tail, and a spread of 15 or so torpedos was launched from the ship, exploding into a wall of plasma as the nacelles lit up and the ship went to warp. Once they were clear of the system, Nevir let out the breath he didn't realize he was holding.  He looked around the bridge and tapped his comm.

"Damage control teams to the bridge.  Stand down red alert.  Tap into our nearest array and see if we can still see the group.  I don't like leaving people behind, and this is now the second time in as many months."

[Bridge, Day 3]
They had done their jobs. The away teams were in position and they were safe for the moment. She could still see their general positions flashing on the simulated base maps pulled up onto the screen. They seemed to be going deeper into the base. None of them had been lost yet, but it was impossible to tell what they were really up to.  Breathing a sigh of relief, Kinley straightened her hair, which had slipped from her ponytail during the chaos of battle. Red alert was down for now, but there was no assurance that the threat was gone yet. "œI still have the general locations of the away team on screen, Sir. No sign of any enemies right now, though we're still scanning in case they pursue." she reported.

He wasn't sure if the Breen would make him mop the decks if it was something liquid. He could see the other away team members moving forwards, deeper into the labyrinthine hallways. It worked. The Breen was heading away from them. As soon as he was sure he was out of view, he shoved the open crate to the side and grabbed a different one. Hopefully, he wasn't too far behind

Dem instinctively covered his face as an explosion emanated from somewhere behind him. It was far enough away, but his arms and face did feel the warmth of the blast. Tekin acted swiftly after this and eventually Discovery warped away from the numerous attackers, leaving the small infiltration team on their own. Dem swifty communicated to all decks for a damage report and status update. "œAll hands are reporting in sir. Minor injuries, 2 major from a plasma discharge on deck 6. All essential systems are running within normal parameters." Dem said, surprised that they did not take much damage. He did have to remember that probably a lot of the essential systems had been disrupted at one point, but that's why backups and auxiliary procedures exist.

O'Brian didn't have far to go to catch up to the rest of the team.  As planned Rayek had waited by the emergency stairwell for the rest of the team to catch up.  Then as group they started their way through the labyrinth of the Breen base (with Lorut's guidance).   The emergency stairwell for the moment was empty; as it seemed that the Breen, like most technological races, preferred the convenience of rapid transit throughout their base... stairs were just a fall back for when power was out.

Sherem was on point with Rayek covering her.  Lorut and the two Engineers, Gohun and O'Brian then followed.  Behind them was Counselor Willard - there for medical purposes if needed and for communication assistance if the translators failed; and lastly the team rounded out with Dranik and Sisko pulling rear guard.

They were making good time up the stairs... all the practice in the holodecks was paying off... until suddenly the route they had expected to take - down a service tunnel was blocked by a ribboned off and sealed hatchway.

Rayek couldn't read Breen... but typically for most humanoids the only time an area would be ribboned off is when there is potential danger or the scene is under investigation.

Rayek glanced back towards Lorut... their navigator.   "The route ahead looks to be closed off - but it's uncertain why.  How far would we have to backtrack to get onto a different service tunnel?" he asked already knowing the answer, causing him to frown inside the Breen suit.

While he waited for Lorut to confirm what he already knew, the Romulan was weighing the options of either continuing on regardless of the warning ribbon and the sealed hatchway vs losing time with getting redirecting through a different set of service tunnels... or risking going the rest of the way in the regular corridor.   They were easily three quarters of the way done the current route at this point.  Two minutes from their destination... but not if they had to backtrack 5 minutes to access a different service tunnel.

"Where's the nearest corridor access?" He asked Lorut.

Then turned to the engineers and checked on the viability of a plan.  "Gohun... O'Brian.. think it's possible to open that hatch without it being detected by the Breen security or Ops?"

Kirayoshi analyzed the blocked -off door. It was obviously sealed off, but there was an electronic lock. It was definitely possible if they had a hard enough pulse of energy that they could probably bust it, but that might break their cover. "œ"˜I'd guess that maybe a pulse of electromagnetic energy from our phasers  might be enough to bust open the lock, but that might break cover." he said in a hushed whisper.

Gohun was annoyed at the world right now. He hated the suits hated going in circles and up and down ladders like some kind of hell maze or horror story. He also hated the Breen as the away team was starting to draw attention to themselves. While they did not display any emotions on their masks Gohun could sense that they were becoming curious. With that Gohun started to brainstorm. Scanning ahead Gohun noticed a small radiation leak.
"œGohun there is a small radiation leak ahead. We have several options that I see at this time. We could ignore the tape and hope that it doesn't get any worse. We can take a Jeffreys tube and add time to our trek or we could go outside the ship for thirty feet and get back on the ship. The suits we have on should keep us alive as long as nothing happens. The tubes will be watched with scanners.  Outside the ship not so much because no one would suspect this type of strategy" By this Gohun meant no one was dumb enough to try this their suits were not made to do what they were going to try and do.

"œOn it captain." Alex set a course for the fallback point alpha. However he had a feeling that depending on how the current events go that it might not look good. He was ready and prepared to make the next step when given the orders.

[Bridge, day 3]

Kinley nodded to Alexander as she began tapping ahead. She still felt like it was too soon to tell if they were really out of the woods yet.  "Sounds like a good idea, Ensign." Nodding to Dem, she nodded. They had taken a bit of a hit there. "œWe should probably do a check while we're still in the clear. "œ

We're in Starfleet here. Weird is part of the job description.

Rayek nodded, acknowledging Lieutenant's candid answer.

A radiation leak would certainly explain the sealed off service tunnel.  These service tunnels the away team had been keeping to were the 'jeffries tubes' of the Breen base.   Rayek was surprised the Breen had sealed it instead of just repairing it.  It begged the question of why?

He was also surprised at Ensign Gohun's suggestion to spacewalk around the radiation leak -  like as if an airlock was something easily accessible and not monitored by sensors and cameras.  No.  It was likely all airlocks would be monitored more stringently than a mere sealed service tunnel.

"Thank you for those suggestions Mr. Gohun. I think we'll stay inside the base for now."

Rayek turned to the teams Ops officer.  "Ensign Lorut, any chance you might be able to fool the sensors on this sealed hatch so it doesn't alert the command center of this base if we do open it?.  And if so... roughly how long would it take"  If it would take the same amount of time.. then they might as well just back track. He hoped not.

Yes, his preference was to open the hatch and go through but first he needed to know how dangerous the radiation leak was.   The Romulan turned to the teams Medical officer.  Yes, she was more of counselor but would have taken the same basic medical training.   "Ensign Willard.   What can you tell me about the type of radiation that Ensign Gohun has noted?   Do these suits give us any protection at all from it? Or is there a possible inoculation that you can give that will negate its effects if exposed for only a short time?"

Jessica's eyes scanned the corridor for a moment as her mind scanned through all the possibilities. "The suits provide a very small amount of insulation from radiation. But I'm putting a strong emphasis on very small there. If we were able to get to a med bay it's something I could absolutely treat safely very quickly..." Her voice trailed off for a brief moment as she thought of all the variables. "Short term exposure won't do any damage we won't be able to treat later, assuming we're only exposed very briefly I should be able to make an innoculation that delays most side effects at least until we're out of danger. Long term damage won't be an issue so long as we all get treatment as soon as we're home. Likely the worst of it will be some added discomfort until we're safe. Then...it will be worse but we can cross that bridge when we get there."
