Lek was pleased Helga wasn't mad at her. He hadn't meant to ignore her, but when he had an engineering task to solve, he knew had a tendency to become consumed by that task. He especially took heart in her confidence that them being trapped in the past wasn't his fault. He wasn't certain he believed her, but it felt good to hear her say it.

"Thank you Helga. I'm fairly certain I don't deserve you."

[Fort Rim, AZ Terr]

Lek listen to A'ron, who he already decided he didn't like with increasing concern for the Captain and the others of the away team. However, when it came to the idea of a raid on the town, Lek had had enough.

"Are you out of your gorram mind? Does it look like I could ride one of those beasts?"

[Fort Rim - Arizona Territory]

The temporal officer just looked at the ferengi with a crooked eyebrow, and gestured behind him.  "It's fine... we also have that." he said, indicating a wagon.  "Just put a couple of horses at the front and you don't have to ride them directly."

[Church - Paradise, AZ]

Don had read Songs of Song and scan the Bible for more info. However time flew as Don was sitting in a pew scanning, reading here and there in the Bible. There was no horned females. There was a dragon chasing female in the book of Revelation and Jesus toss it in the Lake of Fire with the key. And there was more which was like science fiction in the weird book which describe things he was fascinate like...the metal birds he can't recalled now. It had seemed those memories seemed slipped into time itself.  He swear he pictured this flying floating machine in the Bible with four fans to keep afloat. Then that four face thing, with many eyes four wings on one creature. Still it was very confusing. He figure there was some weird truth in those images but a meaning of symbols to warn people. He had no clue. Even the days of Starfleet it was never been figured out. The biggest mystery in galaxy.

This savor Jesus sounded like a perfect individual who never sinned and his father was God. This Jesus Mother was a virgin and that was even confusing. Cause even it stated Jesus had half brothers whein he had no biofather. There was mention of angels. Those were cool. On the other hand in the future he came from it was possible with science and technology.

Like any other reader. You go to the first chapter. He had found himself in the Genesis. "In the begin..."

"Son, its late, I reckon the Sheriff will want everyone to go to bed. We like to keep our curfew," the man of the cloth told Don.

Don had looked like he was an altar boy. An advance mature altar boy. "Oh...I am sorry. I got lost time. We want to be sure we are in our homes. Those injuns or robbers might come closer for attacks," he said.

"Would you like me to accompany you home?" Don had offered. That he had owed this man of cloth a favor.

"No. No. This is my home," he said to Don.

"Thank you once again," he said and left the Church. Which he had not went up flames. There was a little peace in his heart, but he had felt he moved on from this female horned female. She was like foggy memory like someone who lost their parent when they where a kid and they are an adult. As adults get depress cause they can't remember a dear loved parent from childhood. That how Torra was slipping out of Don's memories.

[The NEW Home]

Don was happy to see his old friends, there was Nevir the boss type man who was good at gambling. He seemed to had a little to much to drink. There was Luby who was well educated which her rich words where like art. Nira the dancer from the middle east. He felt a little weird around her but it was all lot less now. Then his great prize. His beloved son. Like his only first son who he guard him with his life. He was so proud of him and his art work.

This was becoming more like home and the future was just fading away...

The agent just rolled his eyes.  "You don't have to help get your ship back if you don't want to." he said, shaking his head.  "The wagon was going to be the way to get the infiltration team into the mines.  Since you seem so against anything I come up with.. you can stay here and I'm sure Discovery will pick you up later." he said, pretty much done with this conversation.

The next morning...

The wagon was being filled with their discarded future wear and equipment.  Keeping it all in one place would be better than having to comb the desert to make sure they didn't leave a mark.  The seriously wounded were to be placed in the wagon, with the medical teams.  A second wagon was found and set up for the infiltration team.  The team that would more than likely need to go into the mines.  That seemed to be the best bet on where the other aliens were.

For the rest, it was time to play dress up.   Cowboys, banditos, and blue uniformed soldiers.  Some of the lower deck crewmen even went as far as raising the banner that was there, blue square, white stars, and red and white stripes.  Although A'Ron picked up a hat and rifle, he ended up tapping his badge and appearing in the uniform of the fort commander.  Somehow his uniform seemed to physically adjust itself to be this old style.

"Think of it this way... we are Starfleet officers rescuing those in need, while still maintaining the Prime Directive." he said, picking up a rifle.  Of course there were weapon enthusiasts in the security department, and figuring out how to work the rifle and reload it wasn't too hard.  They were nowhere near marksman, but it would do.

A'Ron unsteadily got on a horse and surveyed around.  It was peculiar, seeing a 24th century naval crew acting like 19th century army and cavalry.  He walked the horse, after getting used to it, over to the first officer.

"Distract the town, infiltrate the mine, and find and destroy what is keeping us here.  And rescue your away team while we're at it.  And keep in mind that they might fire at you considering they don't remember who you all are." he said, glancing around.  He turned to Lek.

"So... what are you going to do, then?"

Lek had tossed uneasily in what sleep he had managed as he stewed over what the temporal agent had implied about him. Therefore, in the morning when A'ron confronted him Lek was ready.

"I will be with the infiltration team given I'm the engineer and know the difference between an inhibitor and a tin can, which I'm not sure you do. You go ahead ride into glory, but try not to get the horse killed, I like the horse and it's not his fault his rider is an insufferable git."

[Lieutenant JG Savar | Fort Rim | North of Paradise | Arizona Territory | Earth | 1899]

After going over the basics, Savar took in a good night's rest. He realized he'll need as much strength as possible. However, he thought over what to do.

Given the distraction team's possible rescue of the away team, so far he only figured out where he could find Nira: given her bouts of energy and exhilaration, it meant she was dancing, therefore, she was bound to be at the saloon. And that was bound to make her the hardest to reach: most everybody will bound to have eyes on her when she dances.

We're going to need that distraction, he thought to himself. Get everybody's attention off her and, depending on where they are, the rest of the away team.

Savar wondered if the rest of the away team will return fire when A'ron mentioned it, although he had a feeling Nira won't the moment she lays eyes on him. How could she harm the "elf" of her dreams when she discovers he's real?

Savar nodded as Lek volunteered. Made sense, being the engineer. Plus, the mines will provide enough shadow to hide Lek's ears and face.

Turning to A'ron, he said, "I'm with the distraction team, Lieutenant. What do you want us to do to create a distraction? And, again, what do you have in mind for this shipment of benamite? Would be more ideal to destroy it?"

He only thought about destroying the benamite because, before he tucked himself to sleep, one of the engineers who worked around the slipstream pulled him aside and mentioned that benamite was unstable. Therefore, Savar figured it was more likely to destroy the benamite train than steal it. And there wouldn't be worries of the mines; he figured the infiltration team would collapse the mine after they disabled/destroyed the inhibitors.

[The new home]

As the curfew came he left with his father to go get some shut eye before the next day. The next day was probably going to be another busy one for them. It was better to be well rested for the day than to get little to no sleep and feel tired for the entire day. He had no idea what the next day was going to have in store other than probably more work at the gazette. However he hadn't anticipated going to meet the others at the new home. He was happy to see everyone and he was so proud of his father.

As much as Torra wanted to be part of the distraction team heading to town (so that she could ensure Don was safe), and despite the assurances of the temporal officer that her alien features would be covered by the mental manipulation, Torra didn't want to risk the chance that her distinctly non-human looks might cause permanent mental damage to any of the away team (Don especially) or town's inhabitants so she elected to be part of the team headed to the mine.

Helga, on the other hand, already had a bandits outfit and was just itching to cause a distraction. She'd practiced most of the night before learning how to ride a horse.   She was far from experienced but at least she hoped she wouldn't fall off.

Don was up as the first shine of the sun was in the window. It was hard when it was literally on his eyelids. He gave a long yawn as he stretched his arms out. Then he sat up, pushing the cover off him and swinging his legs over.

The Sheriff had set of extra clothes delivered to the newcomers. It was a good hospitality cause they seemed to lost their luggage from the robbers the day before or was longer?

"Rise and shine, Alex!" He said as he got up from bed. Don was still wearing the underwear with the outfit for the away mission. Funny it was a good choice to wear it. He had not planned. He had not foreseen it. He figured wear the whole thing even the underclothes to get the feel of it. Though it had saved him from sleeping in butt nekkid or waking up in Starfleet underwear.

"Alex!" he grabbed his pillow and whipped the pillow at Alex in his bed.  "We got to get the others up to have breakfast and we need to get to work."

As Alex was waking up. Don had changed into the clothes the Sheriff had left. It was almost the same like the time period. Don was to deep in this mental prison. There was three piece suit man somewhere in a corner was explaining that this was the Twilight Zone but that was not happening.

This was Don's truth of life now. There was no Starfleet. His parents was some what remembered and his grandparents from his childhood. Anything after when he started to leave to Starfleet, follow his mother's foot steps, hating Romulans and want revenge, getting court martial for going after Romulans, serving time cause he was court martial, leaving a few years doing his time, he took the money he had from his mom to buy a ship for racing, get caught in smuggling, then crash his ship ran into Tekin and the Discovery, he fell in love with Torra and he got married. All that was gone for good but who knows it will return.

He still had this thing with his hair to be perfect. He was getting growth for a beard. He had decided that was something he was going to let grow for a bit.

After preparing himself he went to knock on the doors of his fellow friends who he had travelled. "Come on everyone, wake up!" he knocked on each person's doors. He even knocked on folks he had not known. Why? Why not!

Don had the Bible, and his note book and charcoal pencils with him as he joined with the others.

Quote from: Nira Said on March 26, 2021, 04:15:17 PM

[Najwa/Nira (?) Said | Saloon >- Inn | Paradise | Arizona Territory | 1899]

Nira flinched. Surely the word Prophet was familiar to the Nose. But then, she saw the Sheriff arrive again. She was a little surprised at how he appeared unexpectedly. It was like he had appeared out of nowhere. Remembering that she wasn't paying attention last time, Nira tried to feel something from the Sheriff...what he was feeling, what he was thinking...

...what she saw disturbed her so much, she shivered in unease, though she made it pass as a shiver of pleasure through her. She couldn't feel anything from the Sheriff, but there was more: not only could she not feel any emotion or thought, he was a walking psychic dead zone, practically a walking void. Nira had a wry thought that she wouldn't be surprised if she saw that he literally didn't have a soul, that where there should be a skeleton and cartilage under all that flesh was a shell containing sentient oblivion. Definitely a vampire.

Then, as he spoke, she instantly felt the urge to call it the night, like the rest of them. Nira knew she was fatigued from dancing, but the urge...the thought of needed bed didn't occur to her until now. But something disturbed her even further: the urge was not her own. It was implanted into her, an outside suggestion. Definitely a vampire, one with natural hypnosis.

"Shall we, Lu?" she asked. "Miss Stone will worry if we're out too long."

Returning to the inn, Nira...no, Najwa... felt so sleepy. But a part of her mind left her quite uneasy. It seemed two halves in her mind battled out, the suspicious half combating against the side that wanted to follow the Sheriff's urge. Finally, it seemed they both reached a compromise. Sleep will come, but thinking matters lying down helped.

Najwa was so tired that upon reaching her room, she just simply let the saloon dress slip off. Bits and pieces strewn about, but she made sure she wrapped a blanked around her until all that showed were just her legs and shoulders. Somehow, the idea of being au natural didn't bother Nira; others like her didn't mind...but she furrowed her brow. Arabs? Surely not. Betazoids, may...be...?

She lay on the bed. Sleepy as she was, there was plenty bothering her. Something was wrong here.

Somehow, she couldn't decide what she could mention to her Imzadi, her elf. What could she even tell him? So she talked to Lu, as she had intended. She moved silently to Lu and spoke quietly.

"Lu...don't you think we even belong here? Don't you think...something's wrong here?"

[Saloon >- Inn | Paradise | Arizona Territory | 1899]

Luby slowly smiled at Najwa's comment.

"Seriously? You too?  I was actually thinking about this very thing earlier, several times actually.  Alex said something that made it sound like the places to our West are already well established and we are seeing them kinda in the past tense being made up...He dismissed it though.  His Dad's been kinda.. well it's like he's searching for answers too.  But Alex said he'd got muddled... I think he'd been drinking too much whisky if I'm honest, I mean... this town is new, right?!  We're founding pioneers!"

She crossed to where they had a little primus stove for boiling water and cooking small items in the room.  "Want a cup of coffee while we chat, I don't think I'm going to sleep for a while, my brain is too much of a whirl."

She continued once she'd had her companion's answer pursing her lips and trying to make some sense of the words that came out of her.

"Then there's my thoughts, dreams, daydreams but that's all they are, far too wild to be true, totally impossible in fact!  I'll try to explain..."

She licked her lips and sat on the edge of the bed until the water boiled.

"First there was Martha, that's one of the children in the school.  She stood there at the door of the schoolhouse building bidding me good evening and I could have sworn that I'd seen that scene many times before but today was the first time I'd ever met the child.  I suppose it's because she looks similar to any female child around that age, you know pigtails, bonnet, pinafore... You could find one similar in any town.. other than the hair colours there's at least 4 in my class for a start!"

In her mind's eye this was what she saw:

"Then there's the dreams about me wearing pants like the men and a tunic of blue, no, turquoise, teal... everyone was though you had a yellow one, Alex one of red, same as Neville, there was a man with sloping eyebrows and pointy ears, and when you looked out the window..."

She glanced out of the small window the room had and saw the lights in the town, the buildings then her gaze swung upwards towards the twinkling stars and the moon.

"That... just the stars, the odd planets and we were thousands of miles from Earth.  It's strange Najwa... I think it's just tiredness, drinking whisky and wine that I'm not used to and all the stress we've been under from travelling tho.  None of that is possible, it's just dreams, or reading far too many of Messrs. Wells and Verne's rather fantastic books!  They are rather hard to believe but fantastic nevertheless!"

[Najwa/Nira (?) Said | Inn | Paradise | Arizona Territory | 1899]

"Technically, we're not founding pioneers," said Nira. "There's been people here before us."

At Lu's offer for coffee, Nira nodded. "Please," she said. In point of fact, her full mind was buzzing so much, it was eventually overriding the posthypnotic suggestion for sleep. She didn't begin feeling very tired. It was only because the Sheriff - who could easily be a literally soulless vampire - suggested it.

As Lu spoke, Nira's mind was abuzz. The way Lu described it, it could've been rehearsed. A single-minded routine of going day after day...and then her description of attire. Somehow, it seemed familiar, reassuring...and her staunch defense of Neville and the way she described him as a spokesperson and leader...she truly meant it.

She sat up, still having a blanket wrapped around her, and then stood next to Lu, gazing out the window to the stars.

"I don't think so," she said, her thick Arabic accent dropping...sounding like her real accent. "I'm thinking so clearly, and I feel you are, too. We didn't even have that much alcohol. At least, I didn't. What's more..."

...I definitely must not be from around here. I must be something...magical. Maybe a part Djinn. How else can I do this? she added psychically. I seem to remember you don't want me to talk like this unless it's an emergency, and right now, it is. The Sheriff seems to have powerful ears; well, there's something with his showing up twice before Neville got out of control. Just think something and I'll be able to hear it.

All she knew was that she had a memory of the townsfolk mentioning that the Sheriff has eyes and ears everywhere. She didn't want to even talk psychically before, but it was beginning to become more and more urgent.

"œDon I'm up... I'm awake"

He got dressed into the clothes that were delivered to them by the sheriff. His mental state was warped where there was no shadowfleet and any memory of his parents that he had was like a hazy daze. Of course he had his weird dreams that he couldn't make sense of. He wasn't even sure the current present truth was even the truth or just some weird situation played to look like the truth. He grabbed his sketchpad and pencil and he went to join the others to have breakfast and then go to work.

Zavrol Gohun

Gohun was rather amazed he thought everyone went through advanced firing training. On the other hand why would they? Look over Gohun was impresses not everyone asks for help and he sensed that her needs were sincere. With that he cupped his phaser in both hands.
"œThis side fires point it at what you want to shoot. This is the fire control and trigger here. If you would like any more training. I can take you to the holodeck or outside and we can shoot cans off a fence"

Danjar-Torra Addams

Ensign Danjar-Torra Addams
[Mine Infiltration Team]

Torra had dressed up as best she could but there was nothing that she could do about her horns.  She noted that Lek was also on the infiltration team.  The Grazerite thought that boded well for them.  Lek had always seemed to be a very resourceful officer.

As she waited to hear from those in charge as to how the infiltration was meant to happen, she grazed on a wad of grass trying to not worry over much about things outside of her control.. things like the safety of her husband.

NPC Crewman Helga Tragnar
[Outside of Paradise, Arizona Territory - Distraction Team]

Helga sat upon the back of her horse and struggle somewhat to keep the animal from heading back towards the Fort.  Helga had picked up the basics of how to control the horse with use of the reins but her skill at it was still a bit iffy.   At her side was her pistol in it's holster.  The pistol was loaded with 6 bullets.  Another 2 dozen lined the leather belt on which the holster hung.  Under her vest - out of sight yet handy should she need it, Helga had tucked her standard type 2 phaser.  She was set go and looked ahead to see who would be leading the charge.

Lek

[Fort Rim - Arizona Territory]

Lek felt like an idiot in the preposterous outfit he was wearing.

"As if anyone with visual organs can't tell I'm not a Hyoomon."

He grumbled as he sat in the wagon behind the riding beasts known as horses. He had a rudimentary idea of how to control the vehicle, but he figured he was more likely to die en route to Paradise than at the hands of the Thuriga.

"And even if we succeed, there is still the matter of the warp drive needing two weeks of repairs and figuring out how to get back to our own time."

He sighed and waited for the signal to start the raid. While he waited, he was treated to the front row experience of one of the horses lifting its tail and dropping a massive load of foul smelling feces directly in front of him.

"Why do I think that's the best thing that's going to happen to me tonight?"
