Feeva was moving around with a frenetic energy. The Betazoid was doing her best to block the onslaught of emotions emitting from every corner of the Base-some were angry, some were scared. Some were friendly. Weirdly, some were joyful. She didn't know where that one was coming from, but she didn't have time to figure it out.

"Always appreciated, yes please do. This wound on his lower leg has completely severed and cauterized his post tibial artery. Quite lucky it was a disruptor really, anything else he would likely have bled out in minutes. Our chief is going to require surgery to repair this and rehabilitation."

Feeva nodded, silently injecting the main with the painkiller. It was a stop-gap as the Doctor mentioned. "I see," she said, raising her head. "Will he make it, you think?" She said.

"Chief, you've taken a nasty injury to your leg and we're going to have to fix it in surgery. I can keep you stable here for a while first if you need to take care of anything, I know all heck is breaking lose up there. But sooner the better we get this done....How's theatre 1 looking? Can we get it prepped?

She did her best to calm the man emotionally. "Yes, ma'am, it's free. Theatre 2 has casualties, though. I am waiting for processing," she said. She stepped away to begin to scrub into the room-it would need the air disinfection. "I'll pull supplies. Petty Officer Kayto, prep the Chief for transport to Theatre 1," she said, loudly, making a dash for the supply room. In short time, she had the surgery room prepped and the Chief was being set up for the repair to his leg.

Lieutenant Danjar-Torra Addams
[Outpost Solaere -  Deck One - Operations Center]

Given the day she was having, Torra let out a soft annoyed snort at hearing her junior's request.  It was a combination of things that prompted this not so typical display from the usually passive Grazerite.

First, was her own regret at having volunteered to step away from her duties 'for just a moment' to escort the civilian leaders off the station, assisting since Security was short staffed.  That had been hours ago and here she was still doing their work and not her own  Then there was the fact that Ensign Nelois completely ignored chain of command to ask this request not to her, his Department Head, but directly to the Commanders - when she was right there!  Lastly, Torra was of the belief that any search for the escaped individual would be best assisted from up here at Ops, where they had better access to corridor and door sensor logs.

She looked towards the Commanders, specifically Nira, since the First officer was in Torra direct chain of command.

"Commander Said.  I would prefer that you deny this request until I can return to my actual duties.  Ops is just as short staffed as Security and if another ensign has to be called down to replace Ensign Nelois so he can assist security on the promenade, then I won't have enough personnel to man tonight's shift without someone having to work a double shift."

No sooner had the Commander responded than Lieutenant Aune's call up to Ops made the whole matter moot.  He'd managed to find the escapee without assistance.

[Ensign Nelois]

Kela didn't mean to fully turn his head to face Lt. Addams, his sensitive telepathy long ago drowned out the emotions of the station to where he was mostly numb to the thoughts but the Grazerites annoyance and snort mentally startled him and his blank face simply stared at Lt. Addams as she asked to deny his request. His face eerily emotionless hid his already rising temper and further annoyance at the Grazerites interjection. He briefly looked down to press the transporter and when he looked up he briefly made eye contact with the Lieutenant and all his pent up anger and stress just left him. Not in some toxic outburst although but painful awkwardness as he quickly made eye-contact with literally anything else and awkwardly sat down, taking a sip of coffee and burying his head into the ops station once more.

Back in intelligence he was the department head, he was used to asking his immediate superiors for permission or simply doing it himself. Even so as a civilian organization things were a little more lax then Starfleet when it came to chain of command. While he personally didn't mean to circumvent Lt. Addams like that, after all he'd have probably felt the same in her shoes, he wasn't exactly sorry. Even so he made a mental note to be more aware of the chain of command and to just do his job unless asked to do otherwise. He was simply brought on to just help fill in ranks afterall.

She was going to give permission to Nelois when Torra reminded about the chain of command and the potential ramifications.  She was glad she hadn't had said anything at that moment.  However, it seemed like the co-conspirator was caught as well., thank goodness. "œHow much more secure can we make these two's cells? I really don't want them to escape before we can get them to justice. "œ she asked.
She was so ready for this day to be over.

"ah...we already have those rooms on maximum lockdown Commander...Lt. Aune just...just transported over. We hopefully shouldn't have any problems from them anymore." his calm voice returned. He had a soft cadence and always sounded as if he was tired but this time he was actually a little mentally fatigued from his near emotional overstimulation.

But, a little more calm he slowed down all of his overactive thoughts and despite the emotions of his senior officers and their prisoners now painfully in his mind he stoically(or stubbornly) pushed their thoughts to the back of his head. He definitely knew he'd need to schedule a meeting with the stations counselor after this ordeal. By law on Betazed people like him were required to take regular counseling and while Kela was always against it, he was no Suder or Elbrun after all, he did admit that at times it helped him set the swarm of both his and others emotions straight and better concentrate. This new environment and stressful first couple days was getting all his wires crossed and being able to get it all sorted out might be worthwhile. He just hoped whoever was the counselor on this ship was as good as the ones on his homeworld.

She nodded as she heard the Praetor's remarks.  She could already hear the acid in his words and his dislike of her.  She was a scientist,  not a diplomat or a negotiator, after all.   She already had a lot of people that she had to protect and take care of.  And she really did not need another  diplomatic mess on her hands.  "œFair enough. She wasn't a judge or a JAG. Not to mention his implications for the administrators they had also made enemies of. Add that to another thing they had to fix after this mess of a day.

Torra noted the stare the Ensign directed towards her after her interjection.  The Grazerite didn't need to be telepathic or as empathic as a Betazoid to understand he was upset by her words.  She'd tried in her comment to  provide an opportunity - if Nira could get someone else to take over securing the Praetor - then yeah he could go.   That it didn't come to pass was outside of her control.

That he then averted his gaze after answering Commander Garrison, had Torra realizing that she'd need to speak to him privately later.  She wanted him to know such offers were appreciated and welcome, but may not always be accepted due to logistical reasons.   She understood, having read his personnel file prior, that he was more familiar with being the department head.  She hoped it wouldn't take him long to adjust.

The Grazerite considered for a long moment Nelois' answer to Commander Garrison.   The station was not designed for holding large numbers in the brig.  Among Starfleet officers, being confined to quarters and being locked down, still had a component of trust and honor system to it.  That honor system couldn't be applied for these civilians -and while locking down the majority of the quarter's electronics was possible; Torra knew first hand that with certain skills - it was possible to get around most of those lockdowns with determined effort - which is why a brig had none of these luxury items.

"Perhaps Mr. Nelois can look into the logistics of setting up portable force fields around each of the quarters - keeping the occupants away from escape points that we ourselves might use in a similar situation?"  Torra addressed her comment to Commander Garrison since she was the one who had asked.

Sounds of multiple disgruntled prisoners echoed down the hall to Lindsey's illicit quarters.
What are they doing near here and not the security cells?
However no one answered - there being no one there.

The temptation to be nosey rose and ebbed as thoughts presented themselves, she needed to lie a little lower whilst there were Romulans about - otherwise she was going to do something that everyone would regret.

She heard them being sheppared into the room next door.
fudgeity fluffing nutbeans..  Why here?

The knowledge that this whole wing was essentially empty took a few moments - after all, that was why she had chosen it herself.

She waited for the noise to die down, mulling over the choices of move on or remain.  Neither was ideal..

Torra frowned as this interrogation was happening just off the center of Ops and without the captive Romulan been  having been read his rights or offered legal counsel.  None of this would stand up in a Federation court if he denied the allegations later.  Still it was amazing to Torra that the Praetor was so brazen to admit to all this openly - like a villainous monologue.

Given the day she was having, Torra let out a soft annoyed snort at hearing her junior's request.  It was a combination of things that prompted this not so typical display from the usually passive Grazerite.

Nira scowled at the new Betazoid ops officer, Nelois. Unfortunately, it's a tendency in newcomers to ignore the chain in command. Well, he's new, he'll learn soon enough.

Nira could feel Torra was bothered by Domitian, and those were feelings very similar to what Nira was feeling. He would easily deny his admittance of what he was in a later trial when he admitted it openly to other officers. However, she strongly recalled a similar Praetorian officer - her Romulan doppleganger Nirreen. She remembered how she had escaped Starbase 153 after Challenger dropped her off, and considering the news that one of Domitian's men accessed a console before surrendering, there was a good chance backup was being called...Nira was guessing, but given what she recalled of Nirreen, Domitian would potentially escape the same way.

"Good idea, Lieutenant, we're shorthanded as it is with Security," said Nira in regards to Torra's suggestion. "And they have their hands full with our...current guests. In addition to those force fields, we can keep some regular guards and add some security features, traps and whatnot. Whatever this station has, we can make sure the old man doesn't get away. You may resume your station, Lieutenant Addams."

"No matter," said Domitian. "I will be free sooner or later. And I understand if you all are new. You will get used to things sooner or later. We always watch, and I admit, I think it will prove an entertainment to us as we watch you deal with your fellows."

Nira flinched again. Given he had also potentially admitted corruption in the colonial government, it would be just as hard to find evidence of this, given what has transpired - like their sneaking over to Cloten's establishment - it will be just as hard to determine corruption in New Jericho as a potential trial for Domitian would. Domitian really knew how to strike a nerve, his referring to corruption in the Federation.

"Commander Garrison, I think it's high time Security took our guest away," suggested Nira steely. "Make sure they keep constant watch on him, and make sure he has nothing on him that gives him a means of escape. Meantime, the next Federation starship due here can pick him up and his lackeys to bring him back to Earth...you'll have to pardon my heavy-handed suggestions," she added in explanation to anybody perturbed by her suggestions, "but I've dealt with these kind of Romulans before on the Challenger...it gives their own saying, 'never turn your back on a Breen,' a whole new meaning."

As Domitian awaited Security, he, too, spoke to all the officers around them. "This won't be over, Federation officers. It's a new beginning for you here...and what is transpiring here is only just beginning."

Not having access to basic station functions was really starting to get on the large man's last nerve. The second he stepped off that stupid transport ship, he was tossed into action without first getting any sort of proper clearance. So the station's computer didn't recognize his command code because he didn't have any! Leave it up to ops to fail to do their job.

That's not fair he reminded himself. They have been working with a barebones crew, shaking the palm tree and evicting all the June Bugs. They had bigger fish to fry. Everything would work out in the end. Just be patient.

But in the meantime he was, not exactly trapped -he could call up to ops to let him out- but why? This guy was shown to be extra nefarious, by slipping off and getting some clandestine signal out. So Sven decided that he would guard him personally.

And that is exactly what he did.

He took position at the front door (as he was inside the quarters with the prisoner) and stood at attention. He didn't speak to the man, nor did he pay him much attention unless he decided to do something stupid.

It did occur to him"¦

It didn't even cross his mind to interrogate this guy, because:
1) He was alone, and that's a big no no.
2) It's not his job.
3) He wasn't asked.

You may resume your station, Lieutenant Addams."

Torra nodded at Nira's orders.  She was grateful to be relieved of that duty.  She released the Romulan's arm and started towards one of the empty stations even as the Praetor continued his bragging comments.

She hoped his words were lies and meant only to intimidate, but the Grazerite wasn't as naive as to dismiss them as lies.  They would need to be investigated.   In response to Nira's suggestion for Security to take possession of the Praetor,  Torra looked to Nelois.  "Please call in junior Lieutenant Dersch to retrieve the Praetor." She specifically requested Dersch as she really didn't want the burly 'mad-bull' up in her place of work.

While Nelois did that, Torra opened a comm to Engineering.

=/\= "Ops to Engineering,  I need two portable forcefield generators replicated so that they can be installed in a crew cabin to form a make shift holding cell.   Ensign Nelois will be down shortly to pick them up." =/\=

Torra then looked over to the Ensign. "Mr. Nelois, please sign off your console and head down to engineering to pick up the forcefield generators and attend to their set-up.  Call when they are in place for activation." she ordered.

No sooner was that requested than a call came in from an unwelcome source.

Dersch stormed into the operations center, a rifle gripped tightly in their hands. Their eyes darted around the room, scanning for any signs of danger. The Romulan prisoner stood in the corner, their hands bound behind their back. The cells were already packed full with other prisoners, but Dersch was determined to make room for one more.

"Commanders," Dersch called out, their voice firm and unwavering. "I'm ready to take him away.".Dersch approached the Romulan and motioned for them to follow. The prisoner hesitated for a moment before reluctantly complying. Dersch kept the rifle trained on them the entire time, ready for any sudden movements.

Torra glanced up at the Dersch's arrival and his very militaristic demeanor was both reassuring and a bit amusing.

"Thank you, Lieutenant Dersch." she called out to him as he led the Romulan away.

"Please call in junior Lieutenant Dersch to retrieve the Praetor." "Thank you, Lieutenant Dersch."
Dersch smirked and gave a thumbs up as he walked out. As they waited in the slow turbolift, he anticipated the pale bastard's response. Dersch's anger was palpable as he discovered that someone had knowledge about the Frontier attack. The mere mention of it was enough to make him seethe with fury.

"œThank you Ensign"¦" She realised that she hadn't really gotten the man's name. Add that to another thing on the long list to do.

"œIndeed. That's a great idea, Torra. Any way we can increase our capacity with what we have will probably be for the best. Hopefully we won't have to use it in the future.." she  said as Nira corroberated her on that. "œPlease take the Praetor away. "œ

She nodded to Dersch to do so as he came in. "œSounds good. I really appreciate it. I think this may be the last of them." She nodded. This shakedown had shown that there were a lot of things that shook out for them. "œ  If you all could, once he's in the brig, I think we probably can run over the details  of the shakedown  now that I think the situation has been taken care of."

[Commander Nira Said |  Ops |  Deck One | Outpost Solaere]

[Ensign Nelois - Station Ops]

Kela didn't acknowledge the scowl, he was mentally a little drained from his near outburst. But he still had enough to mentally judge his commanding officer for such a scowl. When he heard that the Lieutenant was told she could retake her station Kela quickly finished his coffee and got up to allow her to retake her position. Normally as an operations officer he probably would've stayed on the bridge just at another station but with everything how it was he was glad when recieved new orders.

Nela simply gave a slight bow and nodded his head, "Of course Lieutenant. I can make it down to engineering right away." not seeing a need for more words he turned around and professionally exited Ops towards engineering.

[Main ops >>> Main Engineering]
"Deck 15" Kela called out on the turbolift. He was thankfully alone and so took the time to rub his eyes and face and slap the stress out of him. The minute it would take to reach the support offices so he could grab the equipment would be more then enough time for him to recenter himself and the silence and solitude he was granted in the turbolift was wonderful...

Upon his arrival in the offices he was a little shocked, but not surprised to see it only staffed by 2 Engineers, who definitely looked like they were (not) having the time of their lives down below decks. he remembered that a Chief Engineer for the station hadn't been assigned yet so these poor folks have probably been trying to manage everything on their own. One of them still greeted him as friendly as he could. Kela though could sense he was pretty agitated at his arrival, but more so because of staffing and not his presence so he chose to ignore it, he did have a job to do after all. Thanking them for their time in getting him the equipment he tapped his combadge,  =/\="Nelois to Aune. I am on my way with the equipment." =/\=

[Makeshift Brig 2 - Deck 9]
The trip was shorter. Only had to go a couple decks back up and this section of the station had no permanent residents or facilities. Hence why it got converted to a makeshift brig. As Kela was walking along the corridors he took mental notes of the bulkheads and room numbers. He sighed and lamented that these civilian quarters weren't perfect but it was the best they had. Admittedly, while it pained him, he had to give credit to that Lieutenant Torra-Addams for the idea of reinforcing with forcefields. He wasn't jealous but he knew he should keep his thoughts professional.

Quote from: Lindsey on February 27, 2024, 06:17:43 PM

He was almost to where Aune and the prisoner were when he stopped a door early and looked over at inquisitively...he could sense a presence through the door...but there shouldn't be; as far as he was aware these quarters should all be empty. He silently cursed himself for not bringing a pad or tricorder with him so he could confirm a presence but he knew his telepathic senses weren't lying there was someone in there, they were annoyed that there were other people around...it wasn't Aune he could clearly tell there were two people in the other room...

He hesitated for a moment, what if it was another one of those smugglers trying yet again to cause some mischief? Not on his watch! Quickly tapping the unlock on the door Aune was in he pulled out his phaser, set to stun and quickly looked to Lt. Aune. "Lieutenant Aune. I've arrived with the supplies but we should be careful. I've sensed a presence next door unknown identity. If we are able too we should make sure its not another of the Romulans Conspirators trying to cause more mischief." he said the last part glaring at the singular prisoner in the room and held his phaser at the ready.

Hopefully its just him being paranoid but when someone is where there shouldn't be anyone he felt caution was the most wise choice to make.

The large man stood at the door guarding the prisoner, ignoring the rats little antics. He received a call from ops confirming that someone was on their way to set up the cameras. Good.

He waited a bit. Suddenly the door opened, and some guy in a golden ops uniform was standing there with a phaser at the ready.

Sven was still shirtless, the bruise from where lt. Danjar had struck him was blossoming, dark purple and angry. The expression on his face marked that the man was clearly annoyed there was a phaser pointed at him.

"œPut tha' phaser away." It wasn't a recommendation. It was an order.

"œAnd what do you mean sensed? A second later, it dawned on him. He rolled his eyes. "œYou know wha', don't tell me. I don't want t'know. And stay out of my head. Set those camera up, and watch this man."

He stepped out the room, and stood in front of the indicated room. He was past done mucking about without command codes. He was a bunker-breaker back in the war, and he was going to put those skills back to use.

He ripped off an access panel next to the door, bending the metal and tossed it unceremoniously to the side. Inside was a mess of wires and plasma conduit.

He inspected a couple of wires, then wrapped a selected wire around a finger and gave it a pull. It stripped free. He did it again with another. He stripped off the plastic coating on both with his teeth and twisted the metal ends together.

The next part was going to suck. He broke off a relay, bent the ends down and touched each end to a live circuit. There was a loud pop, sparks flew and Sven's fingers were charred black from the shock. They would heal.

The door clamps released. He pried his fingers into the gap and pulled the door panels apart.

What he saw made him roll his eyes.

A woman was squatting in the room.

"œThis room is marked unoccupied. It should stay that way. Get out." He ordered.

Sven went back to room with Kela. "œCongratulations, Ensign. Once you're done here, an' this shit show of a crime syndicate mess gets cleaned up, going to help me clean out squatters."

Feeva nodded, silently injecting the main with the painkiller. It was a stop-gap as the Doctor mentioned. "I see," she said, raising her head. "Will he make it, you think?" She said.

[ {NPC} Lieutenant Commander Rabolon | Main Patient Ward | Sickbay Facilities | Deck Fourteen | Outpost Solaere]

All Rabolon could do was wait for the painkiller to take effect, and he breathed in and out, relaxed, and finally shut his eyes in sleep, numbing sleep to allow treatment to go. Depending on how bad it was, he will definitely need the services of Starfleet Medical if Doctor Grippen and Counselor Drylo couldn't do enough...

[Sickbay, Theatre I - The Surgery of Rabolon]

Thanks to Feeva, the theatre had been prepped in record time and they were all scrubbed up, gowned up and ready to carve up Rabolon's leg. Feeva was proving herself to be far more than just their counsellor, and Grippen was thankful for that as more than a few lives had been saved thanks to her actions. Dr Grippen had taken a few minutes to further review her initial scans of the chief's leg. It did appear a lot worse than she had initially thought and unfortunately the Chief was going to need more than the one surgery.

"Alright, our job is to install a replacement post tibial artery and get blood flow back to the limb asap. We can't fix the whole leg with one surgery and it's likely he'll need to be shipped off to Starfleet medical for further work. Our main goal is to ensure he doesn't lose his foot. Alright, if we're all happy let's begin."

Taja grabbed the laser scalpel and began to make an incision wide enough to allow access to the two severed ends of the damaged artery. They had already synthesised the replacement tissue, made with Rabolon's stored tissue sample to ensure no rejection would occur.

"Alright, Feeva. If you would kindly clamp it open and place the new tissue and hold it steady, I'll suture it up to the artery line." This surgery was definitely a two-surgeon job.
