Ruth Sigurdsdottir

[Base Commander's Officer - Innominatum Outpost, 3 days after docking]

They'd been back 3 days.  As expected, Ruth had got very little rest.  It was like her body just refused to let her take much down time.  That, and having one of her closest friends, and her Chief Medical Officer, Lizzie,  come to her to tell her that she had been offered, and in light of the dangers they'd seen, deemed it not safe an environment to have her daughter Alys in, had accepted a position at Starfleet Medical HQ and would be leaving pretty much as soon as they docked.  She'd miss Lizzie, a lot and little Alys, but if anyone had deserved this promotion (she had been made full Commander by dispatches while they were away chasing after Leyton, this had just caught up with them... but now equalling her in rank so she was Captain Vaughan, not that she ever went by anything other than 'Doctor' or 'Ma'am' generally.  Of course there was 'Mummy' too but that was a different matter. It had been a sad moment when she had waved them off at the spacedock the other day but it was the least she could do...be happy that she was going to a better place and away from all the turmoil going on here.

However, Lizzie being the sensible woman that she was, had already sent for a friend of hers, so the new CMO came highly recommended, both by Lizzie and fellow mutual friend Lt. Hrafn Falleg.  The woman in question - Dr (Lt.) Margaret York, a Trill specialising in neuro-sciences and trauma (it was the latter which had her come to interest to Lizzie) and who had been in constant contact with Lizzie since she started working on the blueprints the liberated of the brain washing device of Leyton's.  So this Dr. York was already well versed in what was happening over this side of the galaxy. The doctor was expected in the next 24 hours on a transport vessel.

Meanwhile, she was expecting Lt. Tempest her new CSO to drop by her office sometime shortly, a gentleman she knew by reputation, and with whom she looked forward to working.

Mondo, her ever-faithful battle butler was moving on too as soon as his new assignment came through.  She'd really miss him as she'd come to rely on his cool-headedness in difficult situations.

Still they'd get through, they always did, they were the crews of Challenger and Innominatum.  And ahead lay a glimmer of hope.

She was calling a 'War Cabinet'....

Shortly she would be having a meeting of all the department heads and critical staff to plot and scheme to get Leyton finished once and for all.  But that was after she'd had a chat with Lt. Tempest, Dr. York and her XO.

=/\= Captain Sigurdsdottir to Lt. Tempest, Dr. York and Lt. Commander Sukal, please report to the Outpost Commander's Office as soon as possible.  Thank you, Sigurdsdottir out.  =/\=

Killing that communication and opening another she announced the major meeting of the 'War Cabinet' as she was thinking of it in her head.

=/\= Captain Sigurdsdottir to all senior staff and critical team members - if you don't know you're a critical team member don't worry if you're needed then you'll have got this message! - there will be a meeting in Conference Room 1 - Deck 14, it's the huge one and we're taking it over for the next few weeks in One Hours Time.  Don't worry about uniforms so long as you are respectfully dressed.  I know I'm eating into your leave time for this.  Please be prompt, during this mission we will assume that you do the research in whatever manner you wish. I'll explain once there.  Sigurdsdottir out. =/\=

She stood and made herself a ratkajino, surprised that Sukal wasn't already palming the chime!

Innominatum Outpost

The mission had not gone as Sukal had hoped, but then he realized his expectations had been a bit high considering who they had been up against without any support.  The Captain had given all crew members shore leave for two days, and this seemed highly appreciated by the hard working crew after recent events.  He had taken this time to check up on his wife and children via a rather secure channel.  Sukal didn't think he was being paranoid after personally experiencing several key personnel turning to Leyton without any true cause.  In this, Sukal could only think of one method outside of the brainwashing they had already discovered:  family.  The new First Officer was not naive enough to think that Leyton wouldn't use holding a family hostage against an officer's cooperation.  That was the last thing he needed to happen to him or his family.  His wife, Emery, and their children:  Lauren, Luke, Callista, and Avery were all doing well - though they all missed him.  With all his heart he wished he could have left to go and see them, but two days would not have been enough time to see them and return.  There was a newfound worry in his Imzadi's eyes, and he understood it without having to brush her mind with his own.  Starfleet and the Federation were in trouble, and he was out in the thick of it.

She was worried for his safety - he who had become her Imzadi and the father of her children.

But, they both knew this was the only way to truly make sure the Federation and Starfleet were saved.  Sure, he was only just one person, but sometimes all it took was that one person to make a stand and help.  Sometimes...that one person was the one which turned the tide.

The rest of his time on shore leave had been spent getting to know more of the outpost that now served as part of their base of operations since being retaken.  It was not overly large - though it certainly didn't seem small enough to be considered an outpost.  The size of it seemed to be someplace between a full-sized starbase and a small outpost.  Whatever the qualification it ranked - this was home for the time being.  Most of the base seemed to be completely repaired; though there were clearly still some areas which were being tended to.  One of the things which concerned him on his tour had been the very serious lack of supplies.  This was not something Sukal liked to see at any Starfleet installation, but less so from one that was currently serving as his ship's base of operations.

Thus, Sukal had called in a favor...the first he had done so in ages it seemed.  There was a supply depot in the Aria System commanded by one of his old classmates from the Academy:  Commander Dnarion Jade.  The Aria System was in the Minos Korva Sector, and was rather out of the way of most of the current internal problems the Federation was facing.  His call to Dnarion had given him a little bit of extra hope, because his old classmate was quite efficient at keeping supplies in reserve.  Not many bothered to get items from his little corner of the Federation; as most seemed to believe he had little to offer.  Sukal knew better.  Dnarion had a way of getting his hands of items even when such things were considered to be out of stock or difficult to obtain.  Now, Sukal was heading for the docking bay where the first major shipment had arrived.

Dnarion had found quite a bit of what Sukal had requested; though not all of it quite yet.  The PADD in the Vulcan-hybrid's hand contained the ship's cargo manifest...which he was even now looking over.

Complete Parts for one Industrial Grade Replicator
325 Quantum Torpedoes
Spare Parts for Subspace Communications
4 Complete Sets for Phaser Arrays with rotary mounts
2 Complete Sets for Phaser Arrays - standard
2 Complete Sets for Phaser Emitters - stationary
Spare Parts of Outpost Sensor Array
Reserve Medical Supplies for Three Months
Spare Parts for Impulse and Warp Engines

It was certainly enough to be of some major use to both the CHALLENGER and the outpost.  Some of the supplies Sukal had requested had not yet been found.  This had included two tetryon emitters, spare parts of transporters and deflector arrays, and some transport inhibitors.  Such things were just going to have to wait, but Dnarion had done a really good job with what he had sent to him.  Of course, he hadn't told Ruth of the new supplies as yet, or even Chief Lek for that matter.

Entering the cargo bay found Sukal watching as the first of the supplies were being unloaded.  By the size of the crates being unloaded - he knew such had to be the parts for the Industrial Grade Replicator.  This was a top priority as far as he was concerned.  Without this piece; it was far more difficult for Lek and his people to do major repairs.  The rest of the items to coming in were things which would greatly improve the conditions of the station in areas of defense, communication, and ability to repair items faster...not to mention have the extra medical supplies necessary to aid those injured.  To his surprise, Commander Dnarion Jade was present as their gaze met across the cargo bay.

"Well, finally made XO again I heard," his old classmate teased as he shook Sukal's hand.

"I suppose it was bound to happen, Old Friend.  I see you have been keeping your ear to the ground, and haven't lost your touch as one of the best Starfleet scoundrels," Sukal replied with a slight chuckle.  "Have time to stay for a bit?"

"Alas, no.  Can't be away from Aria that long.  Especially not in these times.  Leyton hasn't discovered how important my little post is, and I have no intentions of him finding out in my absence.  They actually gave me a Nebula-class to defend her.  About time, if you ask me, but I still haven't seen any of his Rebels about.  Which I am perfectly fine with," Dnarion answered with a slight shrug.  "I just wanted to make sure this shipment came in personally.  You be careful out here.  That traitor has been really hurting us for a while.  Heard he gave you all the slip a couple of days ago.  But, if anyone can catch him - you'd have the best chance.  Your mind just doesn't think like others," Dnarion continued with his own chuckle...though there was a deep seriousness in his dark green eyes.

"We shall see," was all Sukal could think of to say at first.  "Peace and long life, Dnarion," he added after a moment of silence.

"Live long and prosper, Sukal.  Give my regards to your family," his friend answered before turning back to board the freighter...both of them having given the Vulcan salute.

Sukal watched him go, but then returned to his duty of taking inventory from the Operations officer on duty:  Lieutenant J.G. Cameron Parks.  Once that was done, Sukal headed for the Commander's Office just as he heard the communique order from Ruth summoning him and a couple of others.

=/\= "Already on my way, Captain," =/\= Sukal replied after tapping his badge, and quickened his pace slightly.  He just hoped the Captain would be pleased with the new supplies.

It wasn't long before he made his way to her office, and chimed the door before entering upon her invitation.

"I have something for you,"
the First Officer stated as he handed over his PADD containing the manifest in Cargo Bay III.

[Base Commander's Officer - Innominatum Outpost]

Ruth looked up from the PADD she had been reading as Sukal entered and took the PADD from him with a smile that widened more as she read the contents of the list.

"Unless this is some strange custom in these parts, I believe that the festive gift giving is several months away and my birthday was in March.  It's not Norwegian Independence Day as that's in May... It was just Icelandic Independence Day on 17th June... " she stopped and giggled.

"What I'm getting at is that this is like Christmas come early... how, what... when... I know subtext for 'Chief of Operations' is actually 'Miracle Worker' in translation but c'mon.  Does Lek know yet?!" The Captain looked around Sukal and made sure that neither the CSO or the CMO were on the doorstep then she stepped forward and gave Sukal a kiss on the cheek, as close friends they'd been for many years.

"Thank you, I'm not sure what I would do without you some days. How's the family? I assume you've checked in with them?  And I go you here to kill 2 birds with one stone.  I'm expecting our new CSO and CMO imminently so you can meet them, and to ask if we can manage to create a rota that all our key personnel for the next 6 weeks are on duty on 2 days normal duty, 2 days off basis.  I want them totally, utterly and absolutely refreshed before we go back after Leyton.  They will all be on 'standby' but on the 2 days off I would only call them in if we were in Yellow Alert or higher."

Ruth paused and looked as a figure appeared at the door.

"Ah, 'scuse me..." said a redhaired trill smiling.  "Is this Captain Sigurds..." she looked at the PADD again and sighed heavily.

"Say it once right and you'll only ever have to say 'Captain' or 'Ma'am' or 'Ruth' if we're off duty.  I'm Captain Sigurdsdottir and yes this is my office.  You must be Dr. York?" the CO chuckled.

"Captain Sigurdsdottir... Sig..urds...dottir... right I think I've got it and yes I'm Maggie York reporting for duty Ma'am!  Forgive me I overheard you saying something about leave and rotas, I'm the CMO is there something I should know about the crew?" Maggie answered with a grin.

"Take a seat, grab a drink Maggie, and while you're in here and any time off duty it's Ruth ok.  Just we as a crew have been on the go with little down time for months.  I gave them a full 2 days off and enforced it as shore leave, and it's my plan that while we will have to have people on call, that we implement a 2 day on, 2 off rota for everyone so that by the time we're through August we'll be ready to go chase after Leyton with a clear plan and a fully fit crew, so... I'm also going to insist on full medical overhauls for the whole crew.  I'd like to say the crew and base but concentrate on the crew first." the Captain smiled.

Maggie chuckled "I think with a full Medical crew contingent I should be able to do the entire base and crew in around 90 days! That includes the Captain!"

"Well, I suppose I might suffer that! Oh where are my manners Maggie?! - this is Lt. Commander Sukal, my Executive Officer and Chief of Operations." she made the introductions.

"If I were human I believe my response would be "go to hell." If I were human."

[Innominatum Outpost - Promenade]

Lek's commbadge chirped and he sighed. "So much for 72 hours of down time." He growled and tossed back his tranya, not his usual vodka, but he'd heard about the drink for many years and decided he wanted to try it. Tranya it turned out was not without its charms, but it would never replace Stolichnaya in his eyes. Sighing again, he stood and made his way for the nearest turbolift.

Lek was glad the captain had not insisted on uniforms as what he was wearing was decidedly not of Federation make. It was his favorite Ferengi suit. Colorful in a way the Hyoomons could never quite manage to make work for them. "Hyoomons might be clever, but they were sorely lacking in fashion." He would however, be grateful once the bruise on his face faded . He currently still sported several shades of orange ranging from what the Hyoomons called pumpkin to a deeper burnt umber along the left side of his face. It was still slightly tender to the touch, but he'd recover.

"Perhaps Helga will notice I've healed, or not, it's been three days and I've not seen her, even in passing."

On arriving on at the conference room, he took a seat and waited to see what was so important.

[USS Challenger]

James took his first tender steps onto the ship, taking in every detail as he did so. He stopped for a second, in the middle of a quite corridor,  looking down at his ensign pin. This was his first assignment, his first ship, and the magnitude of this moment did not escape him. It was only a few days after his graduation, and James still could not grasp it. He was no longer a cadet, no longer doing simulations in the holosuits , taking tests in the exam halls or having no real responsibilities. It will take a while, he thought, before he would become comfortable here, but as he looked around, a smile formed on his face. This is home now, and this feels like were I am meant to be.

His personal profound moment was ended prematurely by a crew member brushing past him. Shaking himself out of it, he continued down the corridor with his luggage in hand, towards his quarters. Just as he arrived outside his room his comm-badge rang out, making him jump, after which he looked around to make sure no one saw him embarrasses himself. "Here we go..." James whispered under his breath, before opening the door and dumping his luggage inside.

[Outside Conference Room 1 - Deck 14]

James pat himself down, straightening out his uniform. His hand hovered over the door button, and as he did so, he let out a audible gulp. His hand remained hovered over it for what felt like an eternity (but really must only have been ten seconds) before he entered the conference room.

He sat down in the nearest empty chair, closed his eyes for a moment, physicking himself up, before he tuned back in, both eager and anxious for his first meeting as an ensign, and his first time meeting his CO's. This was a meeting he did not want to screw up, as one of his instructors had said "first impressions are everything in starfleet, as from it your captain will judge your potential, and unless you get stuck in a causality loop you only get one chance to make a good one."

A smile formed on James' face for a moment, before it went back to a mixture of anxiety and excitement.

PO2 ShranLahr ch'Verret
[USS Challenger - Deck 5 - Luigi's Pizzeria (and Arcade)]

Lahr had met up with a few of his friends from Security.  There was Helga, Skaggarg, and Burke.  The four were playing Mario Party 4 - their favorite - on the old Nintendo system.  The two-dimensional screen game for all it's lack of tech was a source of incredible entertainment for the group.

They were engaged in a 2 vs 2 mini-game.  Lahr (playing Mario) and Burke (as Yoshi) facing off again Helga (DK) and Skaggarg (Waluigi) in a round of 'The Great Deflate'.

"Ground pound!  Ground pound!  What the hell Burke?  Double tap the A! The A Awww.."  Lahr's groan of disappointment was balanced by an excited whoop of success from Helga and snort of derision by Skaggarg.

"That's got to be the worst I've ever seen you play, ch'Verret.  So what is it you do all day again now in Ops? - Jack all?  or is Jack off?". The Tellerite was particularly crude today as he was in a good mood, what with him being in the lead with 4 stars already.

Lahr flipped the tusked security crewman 'the bird' while smiling.  "You jealous?"

"That's enough, you two! Can we just get on with the game" Helga growled, not pleased with the direction the banter was going.  Lahr however turned his attention on her and gave her a knowing smirk.

"Hey Tragnar, if you're feeling frustrated... then it's your own fault.  You had your perfect match."

This time Helga's growl was more threatening, but Lahr didn't back down.  "Hey I'm not known as the 'Match-Maker' for nothing.. you're being a prude is messing with my rep."

Burke, sensing that Helga wasn't going to tolerate much more, moved to intervene.  However before he could say anything to calm the Klingon hybrid down, Lahr's commbadge chirped from his vest pocket.  Stopping Helga halfway out of her seat.  She glared at Lahr, but sat back down as the Andorian tapped his badge to accept the message.

"Saved by the bell.. " remarked Lahr's best friend, Burke.

NPC Crewman Helga Tragnar

Helga harrumphed after the message concluded.  "I'm outta here, before his head swells anymore."

She set her controller on the table before she gave in to the urge to throw it at the Andorian who looked smug at being called on by the Captain.   Yeah, too much time on the Bridge was going to his head!

"See you later 'Tony.  The pizza was great as usual!" she called to the civilian owner who ran the pizzeria.

She'd just about made it out the door when Lahr's annoying voice called to her.

"Tragnar, shall I tell Lek you at least said 'Hi'... maybe set you guys up on a get back together date?" the Andorian quipped.

Without thinking, Helga turned around, grabbed up a salt shaker from the nearest table and whipped it towards Lahr.   The Andorian had lost his edge in the few short months he'd been up on the Bridge, she realized.   A projectile like that normally wouldn't have made contact - not before Innominatum.  As it was now, he barely had time to duck his head out of the way ... still she saw she clipped one of his antenna. baQa!

Helga stormed out, leaving Burke and Skaggarg to see to Lahr's injury.

She might have broken it - Lahr's antenna and that could prove disorienting for the Andorian. He might end up having to go to Sickbay.  Ugh!  She felt kinda bad.. but still angry at him for his taunting words.

But that anger settled after a while when she wasn't called down to the Brig for attacking a superior.  Lahr was being decent about it and not reporting her.  That made her scowl.  Cause  now he'd feel like she owed him... and he'd be right.  She just hoped his favor owed wasn't what she was thinking it was.

Lahr staggered his way into the conference room and looked over the room.  One antenna was field splinted with what looked like a chopstick and bandaged up, giving reason to why the Andorian reeled and swayed so much as he tried to cross from the doorway to the table.  He bypassed several nearer seats to make his way to the seat next to Lek.

He nodded his head in greeting, one antenne- the uninjured one - swiveling towards the Ferengi.  "Hey Lieutenant.  How's it going?" He paused as he took a good look at Lek's face.  "That wasn't Helga, right?"

She stood and made herself a ratkajino, surprised that Sukal wasn't already palming the chime!

The call to report for duty came as Djann exited his quarters for the first time since arriving that morning. The shuttle from Daystrom had taken longer than expected, his warp drive had an unexpected failure and was only operating at 20% efficiency. He took his time in the repair as he didn't need to be to the station for a few days. It gave him time to reflect on returning to active duty. It had been a year since he had left the Shran and been hospitalized. His experiences there bordered between horror and life changing respect for his crew. His actions had earned him both commendation and a reduction in rank.

You take the good with the bad he supposed to himself while looking at his Lt. pips. He was massively surprised to be reinstated at all, let alone being taken on as Chief Science Officer. Although his sanity had been in question in the last few months he was certain that if any time was appropriate for him to come back to the fleet, it was now. Reaching the turbolift he stepped in and took a deep breath. He opened his eyes and stepped out.

[ Innominatum Outpost - Commander's Office ]

Fixing his mind on making the best impression on his new CO, he straightened his uniform and pressed the door keypad. Here we go .

Stepping into the room he announced himself; "Lt. Tempest reporting as ordered Captain".

"I merely wanted to greet you both before we attend the meeting.  I..." the Captain stopped as her PADD beeped with a message.  She quickly scanned it and chuckled.

"It seems that we have another new crewmember an Ensign Walding.  Now do any of you have any questions or should we go greet Mr. Walding and make him feel welcome and get this meeting out of the way so we can get these medicals rolling and research...Mr. Tempest I believe you are about to become very useful!"

Maggie chuckled "You're heading more and more for volunteering yourself to be my first victim erm... patient Ruth!" she turned and extended a hand.  "Call me Maggie, or Doc... either works.  We fellow teal wearers have to stick together! Welcome fellow new face!"

Relieved to hear that he hadn't misjudged the type of relationship the two had, Lahr nodded in understanding to the Chief Engineer, then took a seat beside the Ferengi.  Glad to be able to sit.  Standing had been making him dizzy.

"Yeah, I get that. She's moody.  That's par for the course, right?  But if you don't mind me saying, sir.  You give her far too much leeway.  Don't wait on her to come see you.  You gotta take a little initiative. Go to her.  Show her you're invested in this relationship, y'know?"

Lahr turned in his chair to face Lek more fully and leaned forward to keep the conversation just between them.  His antenna bent more pointedly towards Lek, causing Lahr to wince slightly as his splinted antenna strained against its binding.

"She is into you, Lek.  Don't worry about that. If she wasn't - my usual teasing wouldn't rile her so much.  But something's bothering her.  So you gotta get her to talk. Deciding he should take some initiative before the captain arrived, James stood up, and awkwardly waved to the room. "Its a pleasure to be assigned to be a member of the...crew, if you need anything ummmm... tactical I'm your guy!" He stood there, akwardly waiting for a response, the realisation slowly dawning on him that that was possibly the worst introduction he had ever done to anyone, ever, possibly in all realities were he is present. He sat back down, avoiding eye contact with the others in the room.

Lek drew imaginary symbols on the table as Lahr spoke, nodding absently as he tried to collect his thoughts.

"I've considered trying a more active form... of a courtship, but truth be told, she scares me a little bit." he waved at his face with a half smile. "She might not have done this, but she could, several times over and while I enjoy oomox as much as any Ferengi male, I would rather not end up in sickbay in the process.

"Talking to her would be a great idea, if I could end up in the same place at the same time. Something she's gone out of her way to make sure never happens. As to what could be bothering her, I don't actually know her that well. We've.... er.... well never mind what we have done, what we haven't done is talk much, so I don't know why she's avoiding me. This is why I chose engineering. Engines are easy, feemales are difficult."

Lek sighed and looked dejected, clearly torn as to how to proceed with his more off than on relationship with Helga.

"A pleasure to meet you, Doctor York," Sukal greeted after his Captain had showered him with praise in private.  Though he was half-Betazoid; sometimes Humans still surprised him with their actions and reactions.  Even so, he was happy that she had found his newest contribution quite helpful.  The new CMO replacing Lizzie - who had decided to take up a promotion and new assignment at Starfleet Medical - was a fiery red-haired woman who was also a Trill.  He made no assumptions about her any more than he did with the rest of the crew, but he would be listening and watching as always.  There would come a time when he really needed to know the people he was working with more.

Sukal turned back to his Captain, "As to the idea of a crew rotation - that is something we certainly need, and the sooner the better.  I will help any way I can to make sure we are back on a schedule to where our crew can act more efficiently and with less weariness."

She chuckled and continued "I will assume that Maggie can get us back on track with getting our crew fit and healthy, I think with a start of 2 days on, 2 off and working up to normal shifts within 6 weeks we should manage that, I don't think there's much wrong with most of them that some good solid hours sleep and relaxation, fun, whatever it is that's not duty won't sort out, but I'm no doctor.  I'm sure that Lizzie would have said if there was something beyond just tiredness that was bothering the crew."

Turning to Tempest she admitted "And the First Officer has, as per normal hit the nail on the head.  I'd like you to liaise with Ensign Farrah and Dr. Jex, and yes Sukal here... I'll explain more in the meeting but there is more than 1 thing that I have to get Science involved in this month, to the point that I'm putting myself on the rota for Science and my younger sister too.  Arya is a cadet apprentice and once her vacation is over she'll be going to Academy looking to do Science.  Katya too, they're twins..." she explained for the benefit of Maggie and Tempest, "..although Katya is going into Security and Tactical, but she can help out here, young fresh minds often have some interesting ideas."

Stepping out of the turbolift and walking down the short length of corridor then into the Conference Room she smiled.

"Morning guys... I'd like to try to get through this as quickly as possible so we can thrash things out to make sure you can still have as much down time as possible on base at the same time as getting things sorted to nobble Leyton once and for all.  Grab something from the replicator those who haven't and want something.  As always so long as you're taking notice and being quiet feel free to get up and make yourself a drink whenever.  Who's up for some brainstorming?!  First things first though, we have some new faces."  The Captain turned and briefly introduced the new CMO and CSO.

"Lt. Tempest, our new CSO and Dr. Maggie... it is ok that they call you Maggie?"  the CMO gave a bright smile and a nod.  "... Dr. Maggie York our new CMO.  Some of you may not have noticed but Dr. Vaughan and her daughter Alys left the station a couple of days ago.  Lizzie has had a long overdue promotion and taken up a position as Head of Paediatric Trauma at Starfleet Medical on Earth.  I have contact details if anyone needs them.  And I believe we have an Ensign Walding here??? James was taken aback by the tone in which the captain spoke, after disastrous first introduction James half expected Captain Sigurdsdottir to bark at him.
"Hello Captain i'm Ensign James Walding, its a pleasure to be assigned under your command sir." James said, standing up to address the captain and the newly entered CMO and CSO. He took care this time to make a good impression, presenting his hand for a handshake and overall trying to make less of a fool of himself than he had before. He felt the facade of fake confidence slip away."I dont know if it standard procedure to have ensigns in on the important... stuff, first assignment and...all...that." he said, trailing off towards the end.
