Captain's Log Stardate - today

It has been 3 weeks since we came back from chasing after Leyton, a mostly fruitless exercise.  However teams on Innominatum and Challenger have been working together to find a solution to several problems and getting both the Outpost and the ship to fully working order ready to go out and find Leyton and Innominatum to be able to defend herself without Challenger being here.

The Science team have been working on a fake drug.  It is in effect an anti-depressant but a deceptively mild one in terms of any active ingredient, small amount of chemicals... huge affect so it looks like people are getting a lot of 'bang for their buck'.  We're going to be undercutting the big ring quite significantly, and making people a lot safer in the meantime.  Any revenue we get from this will be going to various charity projects within the Federation.

Meanwhile Security and Operations have been working hard on Customs and we're getting a few 'standard' procedures in place just in time for the Conference.

Ah yes... The Conference... that should be capitalised.  This is one of the most significant events to happen in this quarter.  If I have one positive (in a field of negatives) thing to say for Leyton, had it not been for him this would never be happening.  Former enemies coming together to defeat a common foe.  They may never truly be friends some of these but they are at least willing to sit down and discuss things.  The main holosuite has been transformed into a conference hall for the occasion since our Think Tank Team is currently occupying the Main Conference Room.

Triangulation of some key locations will soon be available and we'll be able to single out an area for us to search in at the end of the month.

And I have Lt. Aune coming to help us out this month.  On paper, he's coming to learn about Customs and Forensics.  In reality, well yes he is doing all that but he'll be an extra pair of hands with about 500 extra people being on the Outpost, an experienced pair of hands.  It will be good to see him again.

~End Log~

[Base Commander's Office - Innominatum]

Ruth sat looking over the many PADDs, they seemed never ending and she was in here despite being rota'd off.  She was glad however to see that with the addition of Dr. Chang in the department, that Dr. York reported that they were well ahead of schedule for the physicals and so far no one had any major impairments that weren't already on file and accounted for.

She needed a round up what was happening in one place and she also needed to brief the senior staff and Security in general about the Conference.

Sighing she placed the PADD back on the desk.  It really should be today, Sukal was going to get mad at her but the Conference was due to start at the weekend and delegates were already arriving with their entourages.  Still it was meaning that the local businesses on the Outpost were getting a lot of passing trade.

4 hours time should do it... enough time for anyone to finish up what they were doing or to have some kip.

4 hours so that Sukal couldn't berate her too much because she was working... she was going to take some down time between!

=/\=Sigurdsdottir to all senior staff.  Meeting in Conference Room 2 at 1400hrs.  Maghouin, Taray please bring your senior NCOs, Dr. York please bring Dr. Chang, Mr. Dradis fetch Mr Litt. Sigurdsdottir out. =/\=

She then sent a message to all of the Think Tank Team saying simply 'Update meeting after Conference Brief meeting... please bring all information you have and any developments.  Thanks, Ruth'

She then decided that the twins needed more time together with her while she could.

=/\= Sigurdsdottir to um... Sigurdsdottir and Sigurdsdottir... Fancy some ice cream?  Meet me at D'Angelo's in 10, Sigurdsdottir out. =/\=

With that she closed down her console and made her way to the Promenade and sat waiting for the girls at a table under a pink, mint green and white parasol outside D'Angelo's.

USS Ibis || Runabout

It was a typical runabout. Slightly larger than a shuttle. The man behind the control was large, and muscular and his gold uniform fit tightly about his bodybuilder's physique. At his feet, a large Irish wolfhound lay with her shaggy grey head on a well polished boot. Sven was listening to some old works by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. An allowance he gave himself due to the massive amount of paper work he was still working on.

As chief of security, it landed on him to both investigate the Liberation affair, as well as liaison with the JAG office and star-fleet intelligence. It didn't help that he was out of commission for 2 weeks when a plasma conduit behind the tactical station expounded,  sending his head smashing into the console resulting in traumatic brain trama along with sever plasma burns. He had to relearn how to walk, talk and everything else that a normal functioning adult knows, and it was a humbling experience.

It was that experience that caused Sven to think about his future in star fleet. Sure, he would crack heads together, but strength is only strength if you have it and so he put in extracurricular self development. And that landed him into customs. So here he was, spending some time on the Challenger.

He popped of warp and the large ship loomed ahead.

"Computer, open com link to the USS Challenger. USS Challenger, Actual this is the USS Ibis on an approach. Request permission for docking." he said.

ShranLahr ch'Verret

ShranLahr ch'Verret
[Innominatum Outpost - The Pickled Pakled]

The Andorian, looking a bit more disheveled than usual, sporting signs of a recent scrap, was seated at the far end of the bar nursing an Andorian ale.  He looked like it whatever he was drinking was the 'hair of the dog that bit him'.  His antenna were drooped, his eyes bloodshot.

But his progressively worsening attitude was gaining him the reputation he needed for this sting to succeed.

The bar was quiet at this time of day - though 9:30 am wasn't the earliest that Lahr had begun drinking lately.  The staff present not so much to sell alcohol as to clean up after the night before.   So it was odd to have the Pakled bartender approach since Lahr still had his drink in hand.

"Lahr is late." the Pakled stated simply looking at Lahr in expectation.

A droopy antenna swiveled towards the bartender.  "What?"

"Lahr is late. Lahr leaves at 9:50.  It is 10. Therefore Lahr is late."

The drooping antenna snapped up.  "Crap! Thanks man -  I owe you!" He set a credit chip on the bar in tip then hurriedly downed the last of his drink.   He could enjoy it the buzz on his way to the ship.

The Andorian left the Pickled Pakled quickly or as quickly as he could in his hungover state and made his way to his quarters on the Challenger to change into uniform and to give himself a dose of anti-intoxicatant.  The Andorian had a stash of them now thanks to Maggie - or rather Dr. York.

[USS Challenger - Deck One - Bridge]
With the medication clearing the alcohol from his system, Lahr arrived on the Bridge of the Challenger to take his position.

"Sorry I'm late, mate" he called to the other Ops personnel he was taking over for.  Unfortunately for Lahr  - it just happened to be Grelek.  The Vulcan petty officer played everything by the book.

"You are late, ch'Verret.  I have noted this infraction in my report. You can likely expect a reprimand from the Chief for your tardiness." the Vulcan stated without a hint of vindictiveness as he rose from his seat and moved away towards the turbolift.

"Yeah, thanks for the warning, man.  You're a real gem." Lahr remarked snidely as he slid into the recently vacated seat.

The Andorian was just finishing up his checks on the system when Ops received a call.

"Computer, open com link to the USS Challenger. USS Challenger, Actual this is the USS Ibis on an approach. Request permission for docking." he said.

Lahr took a moment to check the logs and the scheduled flight-plans for expected arrivals.   He saw the USS Ibis listed there.

=/\= "Permission granted, Ibis.  Please mark your approach on the coordinates I am sending." =/\=

Sukal

USS CHALLENGER - Bridge

Sukal had been taking over for his Captain on the Bridge while she got some things done in the main office on the station.  Doubling as the commander of both the station and the ship was something which had kept her busier than normal.  The ship was currently outside of the station on orbital patrol.  It was something Sukal had believed necessary considering the arrival of some many delegates for the upcoming Conference - half of them not likely to trust each other.  Since yesterday, the CHALLENGER had seen the arrival of over half of the delegates, and more were coming in every hour it seemed.  Traffic for the station was heavier than it ever had been since he had come back to Starfleet.

The First Officer looked up from his PADD after hearing the message, and toggled the comm badge to respond, "Acknowledged, Captain."  Not long afterwards there appeared a message on his PADD from the Captain about an updated meeting for the Think Tank members as they were known.  He sent back a reply to this confirming he would be there for the secondary meeting.

The Conference was going to be mainly in his corner as the Captain was expected to take her sisters to Starfleet Academy.  It was a logistical nightmare, but the details had been taken care of over the past three weeks.  To have five hundred delegates coming for such a meeting was no small order of business, and keeping them from killing each other was even more interesting of a task.  He was surprised Starfleet had not sent some Admiral to deal with such a meeting, but no one had come from Starfleet or the Federation to take over.  The only person from Starfleet to arrive had been Lieutenant Commander D'leha Amoreen from the USS CHEKOV, but she was not there to take over the Conference.  She was there to help maintain Security in special situations.

Sukal arched his left eyebrow at the late arrival of Mr. ch'Verret, and how Mr. Grelek had logged in his tardiness.  His hearing was just keen enough to hear the Vulcan tell Lahr how he could expect a reprimand from the Chief - who was none other than the current XO.

=/\= "Permission granted, Ibis.  Please mark your approach on the coordinates I am sending." =/\=

Hearing the arrival of the USS IBIS - Sukal had a brief smile as Mr. ch'Verret gave him permission and the coordinates to dock.  Yet, that Lahr was late was not something he could simply overlook.  He filed it away in his mind for later as they had enough other things to worry about than a slight tardiness to duty.

"I believe that is the Captain's friend from the ATHENA she has been expecting.  I am looking forward to meeting him," Sukal stated aloud as he continued working on the upcoming Conference.

However, he did not get to continue for very long as another communication came in at that very moment.  =/\= "USS CHALLENGER, this is the USS JANARAN:  Captain Edward Maximilian commanding.  We are transporting Special Federation Envoy:  Ambassador Veshaa Sh'araonner.  She wishes to board at once," =/\= came the Human male voice over the channel.

Sukal's right eyebrow went up in surprise considering no one had told him of such an arrival pending. =/\= "Acknowledged, JANARAN.  Transporter Room One:  Beam Ambassador Sh'araonner aboard, please, and have her come to the Bridge if she so wishes," =/\= the First Officer replied and instructed as he stood up from the command chair with narrowed eyes at the viewscreen.

=/\= "Thank you, CHALLENGER." =/\=  There was a brief pause before they sent a new message, =/\= "The Ambassador has been delivered.  Good luck with the Conference.  We will be on patrol in the area to help with the security of the incoming delegates." =/\=

Again, Sukal raised his right eyebrow at this news.  It wasn't like he couldn't use the help considering how many delegates were pouring in, but the fact no one had told him of their arrival made him nervous.

=/\= "While I appreciate the help, Captain Maximilian, I would like to verify your orders.  No one from Starfleet or the Federation told me of your arrival and orders," =/\= Sukal countered.

There was a slight chuckle from the Human Captain of the Niagara-class Fast Response Cruiser before a reply came back.  =/\= "I can't say I blame you.  We will standby while you confirm the orders.  I am sending those over for you to view.  JANARAN out," =/\= the Captain answered.

With the signal gone, Sukal sat back down in the command chair.  He knew his Captain was likely spending some last moments with her sisters, and thus did not bother her immediately with the new arrival.  "Mr. ch'Verret, get those orders confirmed, please.  Ensign Walding, keep an eye on the JANARAN.  I doubt they are part of Leyton's rebels, but we shouldn't take any chances.  Also, continue monitoring all traffic to and from the station.  Last thing we need is more surprises," he ordered the two men at their stations just as he heard the turbolift doors open behind him.  He turned to find an Andorian woman approaching in the deep blue robes of a Federation Ambassador.

This particular set of robes were not the bulky kind he had seen before on dignitaries, but sleek and gave the appearance of grace to the woman wearing them as she practically glided to his chair.  Sukal found himself standing again, and nodding politely to her.

"Ah, you must be Lieutenant Commander Sukal," the Ambassador noted.  "I would speak with you alone before the briefing your Captain was to have scheduled; for I heard you were the one in charge of this gathering," Veshaa added as she also nodded politely in turn.  She then waved her sleek hand towards the Ready Room - her antenna both were aimed at him with great curiosity and attention.

"Of course, Ambassador," the XO answered, and went to the Ready Room.  He noted the arrival of Lieutenant Taray, and thus added before leaving, "Lieutenant Taray, you have the Bridge."  A moment later, he was inside the Ready Room to speak with the newly arrived Federation Ambassador.

USS Ibis -> USS Challenger's Shuttlebay -> turbo lift -> Bridge
=/\= "Actual, this is the Ibis. Approach vector received and verified." the large man said, "Course has been set. Ibis out."  =/\=

Sven gazed out the view port as his runabout skirted around the saucer section. He was in awe how large the ship was compared to the Athena. The Athena had a special spot in his heart, but when he was honest with himself, he much preferred the look of the Trailblazer class ship.

His small craft passed along the stardrive section and made its way into the large shuttle bay. It set down with a gentile thud and he powered the ship down.

"Ready, Eurus?" he said to his shaggy dog. She stirred herself and stood at his feet as her owner picked up a duffel bag and slug it over his shoulder. The door to the runabout opened and he stepped out into the spacious bay. He felt a wave of nausea hit him. He was still recovering from the TBI he had sustained. Dr. Brighton said that he would have some cognitive issues for months.

He approached a view screen on the wall and accessed the ship's map. Making note of the location of the nearest turbolift he set off for it. Once inside he announced his destination to be the Bridge.

He felt another wave of nausea hit him. Eurus looked up at him with her large brown eyes. The doors to the turbo lift opened and he stepped out onto the much larger bridge. He came to attention with his large dog sitting a foot away and on his left.

"Lieutenant Aune, reporting for duty." he announced to the bridge in general. He was a large man who's muscles bulged under his tight gold uniform.

[Bridge - Challenger]

[AS Lt. Taray, Ruth, Katya and Arya]

Taray nodded to the XO and took the centre seat, soon afterward a large man and a... was that a .... dog arrived on the Bridge.  He announced himself as Lieutenant Aune.

"Ah yes Aune, you're expected, welcome to the Challenger but... what is... that?! We weren't expecting a dog and I'm not entirely certain if animals are allowed on the Bridge.  Lt. Taray,.." the Benzite finally introduced herself, "Chief of Security on Challenger.  You'll likely meet my counterpart on Innominatum, CPO Maghouin, shortly, indeed at the meeting in about 3 hours, we're being briefed on the Conference, since you're Security I'm sure you'll be ... well if not expected to attend it would certainly be a good idea!  One moment please while I contact the Captain about what to do about the dog."

=/\=Lt. Taray to Captain Sigurdsdottir.  Sorry to bother you on your leave time but Lt. Commander Sukal is in a meeting with Ambassador Sh'araonner.  We have Lt. Aune here on the Bridge, however he has a large dog with him... we're not sure of procedure... =/\=

[Minchella's Pizza and Ice Cream Bar - Promenade - Innominatum]

The Captain was indeed spending the 4 hours with the twins, since between welcoming delegates, 2 meetings and so on it was going to be one of the few times she could have with them before she had to see them off for the Academy.  She was still debating going to DS9 with them for the Academy shuttle but she had promised she'd try, saying that if Leyton attacked Innominatum or she was called out then it was her duty to go, not be ferrying her sisters to Academy.  Both had understood that, tho not without teasing her about dereliction of other duties and being a meanie with requisite pouts... all in fun of course.

She had just taken a mouthful of double pepperoni pizza when she got the hail, Katya helpfully tapped her big sister's commbadge and said  =/\=Katya Sigurdsdottir here, one moment please, the Captain is temporarily rendered unable to speak... =/\=

Ruth chewed quickly, took a big gulp of her fruit juice to wash it down and then she nodded to Katya waving her back into her own seat a little more.

=/\=Captain here.  If the dog is a pet then he or she will have to stay in quarters and be walked only in the arboretum or the holodeck, or here on the Promenade.  If a service dog then he or she is allowed anywhere Lt. Aune is.  If Lt. Aune and dog are checked in and have their quarters allocated then please have them both join us down here for pizza.  Sigurdsdottirs (she stressed the plural of the 's' to include her sisters making a joking reference to Katya having answered the hail) out.  =/\=

"Thanks I would have choked otherwise!" Ruth said honestly.

"Is Lt. Aune 'Stryker'?"  Arya asked.

"Yep, it is but unless he says so you call him Lt. Aune."

"Of course, we're good little Academy students to be!"  Katya said with a grin.

[Meanwhile back on the Bridge...]

"Well looks like you're invited to lunch.  You and the dog...if you've got your quarters, I'm not actually sure if you're billeted here or on Innominatum.  Let me check..."  She had a look on her PADD finding it.  "Ah yeah here, Deck 2 - D48.  Makes sense since most of the guest quarters on Innominatum are going to be full of delegates, Ambassadors and so on, Security nightmare!"

She chuckled.  "Anyhow enjoy your lunch, Minchella's you can't miss it, follow your nose, I don't normally recommend junk food but that stuff is proper Italian, and it's really good.  Enjoy, and I'll see you in a few hours at the Conference." Taray said with what passed for a smile on the Benzite features.

"If I were human I believe my response would be "go to hell." If I were human."

Ruth Sigurdsdottir

[Posting as Praetor Aedile]

[Praetor's Ship Novum Initiis - Bridge]

Aedile smiled.  She was looking forward to seeing Ruth and Sukal again, they'd been most helpful in helping her become what she was today, whether they realised it or not.

Since the Gormagander Migration, she had taken temporary command of her planet, something that had met with the approval not just of the Elders, but more importantly, the general inhabitants.  She had set out to overturn the more dictatorial elements of her husbands rule, and when he was found dead on the floor of his cell, no-one really did that much of an investigation since he had so many enemies, it would be hard pressed to find just one that could or would have done it.  However, it meant that Aedile then was sworn in as the official leader of her planet.

And now she was on her way to the Conference, nearing Innominatum she suddenly started chuckling.

"Ma'am?" asked her first officer, curious as to what was making her so amused.

"I was just remembering last time I was here, and thinking that we're lucky we are rather too large to be swallowed by a Gormagander!" Aedile replied with a smile.

"Yes Ma'am" he replied thinking that it were a strange thing to think of.

"Oh quite apart from my late husband trying to kill me, that was an eventful trip, a Gormagander migration going past, one of the females was pregnant and in distress, so their brilliant engineer turned one of the cargo holds into a space dock thing, and Dr. Vaughan and her team helped deliver the baby... meanwhile they were holo projecting an image of the pregnant female amongst the herd... but one of the shuttles, not mine thankfully, got swallowed by an angry bull gormagander.  Everyone was fine just a little shaken.. but eventful and not a trip I'm likely to forget in a hurry.  Announce our arrival helm." Aedile ordered.

"Yes Ma'am.  Innominatum, this is Novum Initiis, carrying Praetor Aedile of the Reman Empire, requesting permission to dock.  Praetor Aedile requests a meeting with Captain Sigurdsdottir and Lt. Commander Sukal at their earliest convenience."

Since repairs were being done to the Operations Centre on Innominatum, all hails to the Outpost were being re-routed through the Bridge of Challenger.  Thus Lt. Taray commented.

"Mr ch'Verret, please acknowledge and schedule a meeting for sometime after the 2 we have this afternoon, but before the Conference proper, like tomorrow maybe."

"If I were human I believe my response would be "go to hell." If I were human."

Bridge || USS Challenger

It was a complicated affair, the dog. And he wasn't sure how to explain it in a quick summary.

"I apologize. There was no steward to direct me when I landed. The dog is somewhat in between. Originally a pet. But last month I was severely injured. Traumatic brain injury. I'm luck to be alive. And more lucky to not be a drooling vegetable. Anyway my doctor and counselor both saw to it that Eurus here was trained in the way of a service animal. We are waiting for Star Fleet to register her as one. That awkward waiting period." he told the Benzinite.

He nodded and made his way to the pizza joint. He found a boisterous Ruth and walked over. Sven had done a good job obedience training Eurus. She was always by his side. And Dr. Brighton found Ana amazing team to train her in how to be a service dog. He pulled out a chair, and it was... difficult. But he managed and sat.

"Congratulations Captain." remarking on her new post. He gave a wink to the twins.

[Engineering - USS Challenger]

Lek was inordinately pleased. The ship was fully operational. The upgrades to the plasma and ODN conduits were proceeding nicely, this task was still the work of many weeks to complete, but progress was good.

The industrial replicator had replaced the primary sensor array on the station and had gone online two days ago giving the station its full detection range back again.

He and Helga had been getting... reacquainted... frequently... and exhaustively, and he couldn't be more content. In fact, the only way for him to be more content would require there be two of him.

When the summons come over the comm, it broke Lek out of his revelry and he stood with an impossibly smug grin as he exited his office.

"It's all you Gianetti, I'll let you know what is going on when I get back. Stay on the conduit teams. I know those upgrades are about as pleasant as a Denebian Slime Devil with a toothache, but they have to get done.

As he exited engineering, he tapped his commbadge.

=/\= "Lek to Captain. Understood, on my way." =/\=

USS CHALLENGER - Bridge

Sukal arched his left eyebrow at the late arrival of Mr. ch'Verret, and how Mr. Grelek had logged in his tardiness.  His hearing was just keen enough to hear the Vulcan tell Lahr how he could expect a reprimand from the Chief - who was none other than the current XO.

She wishes to board at once," =/\= came the Human male voice over the channel.
.
.
.

Following Grelek's warning and after Ibis had been cleared for docking, Lahr looked over towards the XO but the man didn't seem like he was gonna read him the riot act.   In private, Lahr could've commented to the Vulcan that he was just 'getting into character' for the undercover drug ring assignment - but not getting into trouble would have defeated the purpose of building himself a stronger reputation of not being by the book making his drug-dealing plausible.

The call in from the JANARAN was answered by the XO himself and Lahr continued on with his other duties - a little bit less attentively than usual.   It was to the point now, building over the past few weeks, that it was noticeable... and some, as in Grelek's case... were beginning to comment and report his less than stellar work ethic.  Of course, Lahr was selective on which tasks he let slide but overall - Lahr was admittedly the worst Ops Petty that still have active duty on the Bridge.   But at this rate, he doubt that would last much longer.  Eventually even the 'in the know' XO would have to do his job and discipline the wayward Andorian.

Lahr looked over towards the XO as he heard his name called and was given a task to check on the veracity of the JANARAN's orders.

"Sure thing, sir," Lahr remarked lazily.  "I'll get right on that.".  While waiting for the orders to be sent over though, Lahr opened a text window and started spamming Grelek's PADD with smiley faces.  Report him would he, eh?

The file was sent over and Lahr paused in his spamming while he did the requested check, everything looked clear.  Yet before he could report that to Lt Commander Sukal, the Vulcan moved off to the Ready Room to speak with the Ambassador.   Lahr sent the confirmation to Sukal's PADD and would have returned to spamming the Grelek but something else caught his attention.  The arrival of Lt Aune and his ... dog.  Taray, the rule monger, of course, had to question about procedure in regards to the animal.

Lahr looked at the large shaggy dog and a bit brazen at the lack of reprimand thus far, remarked on it's size, moments after the man left with the dog in tow.  "That ain't a dog. It's  more like a Shetland Pony!  Hell, I bet there are some species that could ride the thing."

Litt was having a little fun in his free time doing some flight exercises in the holodeck in order to be ready to face another possible battle if the time comes.  After some reps he left the holodeck, grabbed something to eat and drink and after his lunch he just walked to his quarter to wait a little, maybe take a nap or something.

[USS Challenger • Litt's quarter]

A few minutes later Chief Dradis knocked on his door and call him saying that the Captain was inviting them to a meeting at 14:00.

"But sir, it is 12:30 yet." Litt said with a little smile in his face.

Them Chief Dradis said that Litt would probably take half an hour to get ready and he wanted to be at the conference room early because he didn't like to enter somewhere with a lot of people there yet.

"At your orders sir." Richard agreed with Chief Dradis and took his time to get ready for the meeting taking a shower and putting his best uniform.

About 30 minutes later he was ready and walked with Mr. Dradis to the conference room 2, where the meeting was about to take place.

The path to the conference room didn't take long and Litt arrived there with Mr Dradis.

"So... Now we are here we just chat and chill until someone arrive as well?"

Sukal

USS CHALLENGER

Ready Room

Sukal sat where his Captain usually sat - which was not as strange as he thought it might feel.  It wasn't like he hadn't sat in the seat before, but this was the first time he had a person of importance sitting across from him.   Ambassador Veshaa Sh'araonner was most likely considered quite beautiful by any species standards, but Sukal merely noted the Andorian woman actually seemed to give off an aura of charisma which apparently enhanced her physical natural attributes.  Their eyes met, and the young First Officer could feel the seconds slipping away as the gaze continued.  For reasons he could not explain - he knew with out a shadow of doubt that if he did not speak up soon seconds would turn to minutes.

"I am pleased to meet you, Ambassador," Sukal said formally, and the woman across from him merely smiled warmly in return.

"The pleasure is mine, Lieutenant Commander.  It is quite the responsibility you have for one of your rank and years," Veshaa answered.  "I am sure your Captain will be taking care of things until she needs to leave, and that I am sure you will do just fine once you have to take over."

"Time will tell, Ambassador," Sukal replied with a moment of reflection on the woman's words.  "So, we will have a meeting soon for the conference before the actual conference takes place tomorrow.  If you have anything to brief us on - that would be the time.  Unless, of course, there is something else I can take care of for you."

Veshaa's smile evaporated as she tilted her head to the left and gazed with slightly narrowed eyes at the First Officer.  "You have a point.  Anything I need to tell you could be done at the meeting, but this regards you specifically.  Apparently, you were rather eloquent in your report and suggestions to the Federation Council and to Starfleet Command to make an alliance with the Remans under this new Praetor:  Aedile.  From what your report said; your contact with her was rather brief, but you still had some interesting and strong points of view on the subject.  Thus, I am here to ask you more about your encounter and why you feel such an alliance is truly the right move for the Federation and Starfleet to make - even temporarily."

Sukal was taken back by this.  Such would certainly warrant a Special Emissary from the Federation...not just the standard Ambassador.  He had not expected his report to cause such a stir among the Council or Command, but it had clearly done both.

"I see.  Well, I will be glad to discuss such with you when it does not interfere with my direct duties on the Bridge, Ma'am.  If you wish, we can continue this conversation later after the meetings.  Praetor Aedile should be arriving soon - if she has not already arrived," Sukal suggested as he let her words sink in.  Something about the woman made his mind rather more alert - as if it wasn't already heightened by all that was going on.

"That seems quite reasonable," she replied while standing up and nodding to him with a new smile.  "You are going to be rather interesting to watch in action.  Until later," Veshaa added before leaving the Ready Room without a backward glance.

Sukal's PADD beeped with the report given by Lahr on the USS JANARAN's orders.  Everything was in order and double checked, but Sukal looked at the way the report was ordered.  Something about it seemed...almost sloppy.  Considering Lahr had been late to his shift, and then the report's organization - he wondered if something was troubling the Andorian male.  Knowing there was still much to do; Sukal put Mr. ch'Verret's actions out of his mind for the time being and returned to take the Bridge from Lieutenant Taray.

"Report," he ordered from the Security Chief as he took the center chair from her.

Innominatum Outpost
[Lieutenant Commander D'leha Amoreen]

The Betazoid woman had been working hard on making sure the delegates were all situated and quartered.  Of course, they had assigned her to this duty in the hopes that her interaction with the various delegates would help her to pick up on any problems ahead of time.  After all, her specialty was counter-espionage and behavior patterns.  It was a logical idea, and one the Betazoid could truly appreciate.

"Ah, another batch taken care of," an Ensign from Security stated as she passed his checkpoint.  "You have quite the work ethic."

"All part of the service," D'leha answered with a slight shrug even as she barely brushed past the young man.  "Got a briefing to attend soon about all of this.  Should be interesting," she added on her past him.  She was too professional to allow even the glimmer of a smile to appear at her success, and simply strode on with the same purposeful stride the people around her were getting use to.

"Ah, Lieutenant Commander," called out one of the aides of the delegations.  "I am Senior Aide K'roa of the Sapphire Conglomerate.  I was told to give the new security arrangements to one of the senior staff in charge of security around here.  Would that be you, Ma'am," the Caitian woman inquired.

"I am here to help, and am not really in charge of anything, K'roa.  However, if you wish, I can make sure these orders are given to the appropriate authorities," she replied as she looked over the PADD.

"Ah, no...there is no need for that, Ma'am.  I will make sure personally.  We would not want to let such information fall into the wrong hands by mistake...no offense," the Sapphire Aide replied a bit hesitantly before moving on with her PADD retrieved.

D'leha never looked back at the woman, but continued on about her duties until it would be time for the meeting with the those in charge of the Conference's security measures.

No sooner had the 'dog' and owner left than the Praetor's ship arrived requesting to dock and a meeting with the Captain and XO no less.

"Indeed, and I don't think that's fully grown yet, I don't doubt that you're right about the Shetland Pony size by the time it's fully adult, but it suits the Lieutenant and it's now off the Bridge, if the Captain accepts it I suppose we must, unless there's someone allergic to dogs, I wonder if that would mean we had to keep it off the Bridge for medical reasons?" the Benzite pondered out loud.

"Thank you Challenger, acknowledged and understood, both docking and the appointment time.  Thank you.  Novum Initiis out." the helmsman responded.

Before long they docked and Praetor Aedile stepped out.  She spotted someone in gold and remembering the colours for the Federation uniforms she guessed it might be someone in Security.  She walked up to Lt. Commander Amoreen and smiled.

"Greetings, I am Praetor Aedille of the Reman Empire, I believe you must be in Security so I'm probably asking someone who might know... where might I be lodged for the duration of my stay?  I am friends with Captain Sigurdsdottir and Lt. Commander Sukal... or least we parted on friendly terms after my last visit.  And will we have freedom of the Outpost, the public parts I mean, I was intending doing some shopping before the Conference starts!  For all the armour and my guards looking very 'tough' I am totally a girlie girl underneath!  I'm sure you understand in your position, you have to have a rather tough demeanour outwardly on duty but I'm sure you like feminine things off duty!" Aedille grinned.

Getting off Reman for a bit was a holiday in itself.  Granted a working one but she didn't have the Elders breathing down her neck trying to advise her and then 'tsk tsk'-ing when she did whatever she thought was right.
