[Sickbay - Challenger]

One minute she had been preparing to leave Sickbay before she received word from the Bridge about Leyton and how she should be able to access the second turbolift. Only for Maggie to not only acknowledge her orders but to also recommend that she do a site to site to the Bridge. Liv understood Maggie's concern as she contacted the Bridge to confirm, knowing she couldn't really argue with the suggestion as she didn't particularly want to become a pawn in whatever Leyton was doing, especially if he already had Arya in his grasp.

She could only hope that Kyle was involved in stopping the madman, but before she could acknowledge, either the Bridge or Maggie, Liv was asked if she was ready for transport. It alls seemed to happen so quickly and was about to respond, when her and Maggie were able to hear what was going on as orders were also relayed as to what medical needed to do.

Not how she quite expected this to go, but one thing was certain and life aboard Challenger could never be described as boring. Relief then washed through her, when the news came that they had gotten Leyton, but needed a second medical person, to treat the Captain.

Looking around, she knew who to send as she responded to Lahr.

=/\= Briggs to Bridge, I'm ready and I'll be sending T'Varn to treat the Captain =/\=

Hoping that T'Varn had heard her as the transporter beam claimed her and whilst she expected to appear on the Bridge, was somewhat confused for a second as she appeared in the corridor that led to Sickbay. Recovering quickly and realising that there had been some kind of mix up, Liv decided that in the grand scheme of things, it didn't matter as long as the injuries were dealt with quickly and efficiently.

She had to admit that she was happy to see her husband as she approached Ruth and Arya.

" Looks like you get me after all, now let's get you both scanned and treated" she said, ignoring Leyton as he didn't deserve her attention as she took out her med tricorder and began to scan Ruth first.

Kyle and Gohun fired simultaneously. Between the axe in his shoulder and the phaser blasts, Leyton dropped his weapon and fell to his knees and sat there for a moment.

"Check the Captain and Arya and call for medical." Kyle said to the Crewman as he slowly approached Leyton. He was a little surprised that the man was still conscious given his wounds but he chalked it up to adrenaline. "She wants you alive." he said with a nod toward the Captain. "But I swear on my mother's grave that if you don't raise your hands above your head and put an end to this, I will put an end to you." In the course of the next half a second, Leyton lunged for Kyle and Kyle fingered the controls on his phaser and hit the man square in the chest once more. Leyton fell flat on his back and his head rolled to the side. The higher stun setting did the trick this time. He kicked the ex Admirals weapon away and tapped his comm badge.

=/\= Briggs to Bridge. Leyton is in custody.  =/\=

Kyle walked over to the others and looked over at Gohun. "Here. Let's get the Captain up and on a seat while we wait for medical. How bad is it, Captain?" he asked. "Can you stand on it?"

They lowered Ruth to a sitting position and Kyle reached a hand down to Arya to assist her up. He looked her up, down and over as she stood. "You hurt anywhere?" he asked the younger sister. He could feel her trembling and saw her glancing at Ruth. "She'll be fine." he assured Arya. "Come on. You can sit with her while we wait."

[Corridor - Deck 7 - USS Challenger]

"I'm fine... just, Well remind me that while we're going to Waring Manor for R&R, I need more fitness training.  I think I've bruised my shoulder, hip, ribs down my side dropping like that.  More practice! Are you two ok? Arya?" Ruth said, hopping between the two Security guys, hiding a wince as she was lowered to the chair.

Arya nodded mutely but still was like a limpet to her sister's side.

"Arya, I'm a Viking, I'm fine.  The blood is his.  Is he still alive?!" the Captain asked casting a glance at Leyton, then she saw the chest rise and fall.  "Ah yeah... worse luck.  Had you shot him I would have turned a blind eye if a 'phaser burst ricocheted off a wall' or something."

Ruth decided not to mention the ankle, she thought it might be rather obvious given that her trouser leg was burnt and the stench of singed cloth and flesh in the air might give it away.

With both the Captain and York's messages coming in at pretty much the same time Lahr had to prioritize which to respond to first.  The Captain's of course.

As the Andorian called up the security cameras from on Deck 7, he answered the Captain =/\= "Yes, ma'am - anesthezine standby but only as a last resort - with Medical forewarned." =/\=

Lahr looked over toward Tactical but both Kyle and Gohun had gone with the Captain.  He turned then to Reyes.  "Reyes, can you prep the anesthezine protocol?  Have it ready to deploy in the hallways of Deck 7."

While Reyes saw to that Lahr was placing force fields up at every junction and door way.  There would be no place for Leyton to go.

For a brief moment he caught a glimpse of Leyton and Arya moving along the corridor before the man shot out the camera.  Roozh!

Before he turned his attention to other things he still had medical he needed to respond to

He acknowledged the CMO's comm.  =/\="Sorry about the delay Ma'am.  Not safe at all.  Leyton is maybe 300 m from your location.  I've block off the corridors and all doorways with forcefields - that includes Medical.  Hold one moment and I'll arrange for a site-to-site transport for Dr. Briggs." =/\=

Lahr swiftly set up the transport locking onto the doctor, as the Captain's second call came through regarding forcefields around Medical and using transporters.  Oh well what was it they said about 'great minds and thinking alike?'

The Ops officer switched comm channel to answer the Captain.  =/\= "Yes, ma'am already done." =/\=

Back again to Sickbay.  =/\= "Ready to transport?" =/\= he inquired and beamed Dr. Briggs over when he got the confirmation. =/\= "By the way Dr. York, please have a shot of epinephrine prepared.  We have the anesthezine security anti-boarding protocol on standby and I'm told Arya is highly allergic." =/\=

Then it was back to the Captain - asking if he had eyes on Leyton - he did the man and Arya had moved nearer to Sickbay by about 200 m, and he had a nice view of the pair.  But Ruth's voice dropped off mid-sentence as he could only assume she heard or saw Leyton herself.  He couldn't see Ruth the two security with her because of the shot out cameras.

Normally the comm system would kick off after a few seconds of silence, but Lahr purposefully turned off this feature so that he could listen in via the Captain's comm badge.   He heard the Captain speaking to Kyle and Gohun, obviously prepping for an offensive.  Oh roozh!

He winced, his antenna quivering at the volume of her battle cry.. and then he saw Arya duck and turn and an axe embed in Leyton's shoulder.   Damn!

Then the scene became chaotic at the Captain charged in to cover her sister which phaser fire crossed the length of the hallway.

Then it was over.  Leyton was down.   Arya was safe, as was the Captain.

"Yes!  They got Leyton!" Lahr cheered at pretty much the same time Kyle called up.

Then hearing/seeing the security chief question the Captain seemingly about some injury - had she been hit in the crossfire? - Lahr worked the transporter controls prepping for another site to site (unfortunately in his haste he forgot to clear Dr. Briggs comm badge from the list).

=/\= "Sickbay, initiating a second site to site... which personnel is available to treat the Captain?" =/\=  he asked hurriedly.

As soon as he had the name Lahr was looking up the comm badge ID and locking on their signal.

"Beaming now."

This is when Lahr realized his mistake he'd beamed both Liv and the other, to the Captain.  He frowned looking at the comm badge ID (a series of numbers) and wasn't certain which was who's.   Lahr, hoping, he got it right selected one to beam back to the Bridge.

=/\= Cancel the funeral, Lahr, put the black armband back in storage... for me at least,  A couple of minor injuries but nothing that can't be fixed, and we have a CMO on the job!  How's the mopping up going?  Do we have enough guest beds do you reckon?! Either for our side or in Hotel le Chef Briggs, aka the Brig?! =/\=  only the sharp intake of breath would let anyone who knew her indicate the amount of pain she was in.

"Besides it's the quiet ones that you have to watch for..." she said with a glance at Leyton and Arya.  "You can't call me quiet!"

The Captain suddenly started bawling her eyes out all the stress, worry and turmoil of her time in the hotseat of the Challenger came pouring out.  Everything with Leyton, Sukal having to go home to take care of his family, the ordeal over the twins and the wedding, Will leaving... everything she just let it all out.

On the hiccough of a laugh she beckoned Liv close and motioned to Gohun to come closer.  "Do you think you could 'accidentally' stand on his hand or kick him... I'm sure the doc and I will turn a blind eye..."

"If I were human I believe my response would be "go to hell." If I were human."

T'Varn barely had time to acknowledge the orders from Dr. Briggs and grab up her medkit and medical scanner when the transporter effect took hold off the Vulcan medic.  Rather that find herself in the corridor in front of the Captain, T'Varn rematerialized on the Bridge in front of the Captain's chair.

The medical crewman logically assumed that she had been misinformed on the location of the Captain, but her quick visual survey of the Bridge did not find the Captain present.

"Where is the Captain?" she questioned looking towards the Andorian who just the other day had been announced as the ship's Second Officer.

"Sorry about that Crewman, seems I got you and the Doc mixed up.  But not to worry, if you're here that means Dr. Briggs is with the Captain.  We could use you to take a look at Petty Officer Reyes here.."  Lahr nodded towards the Kali who was still working at her console.

Since the request was logical, T'Varn nodded and looked towards the Ops petty officer, noticing for the first time the green blood tickling from a head wound.  "Hold still for a moment please" she requested as she prepared to scan the fellow Vulcan.

Lahr's attention diverted from the Vulcan medic scanning Reyes to the Captain's call.   He smiled and his antenna swayed in relief.  =/\= "That's great news Captain! We were all routing for you! Your axe throw was amazing." =/\=

When questioned about the mop up, Lahr's antenna writhed guiltily as he turned his formerly distracted attention to the sensor scans to actually pay attention to what was going on outside the ship.   Lahr was damn lucky the Captain had only taken off AFTER the battle was mostly done.  As it was he hadn't had confirmation of who was in control of Leyton's vessel until just that moment.

=/\= "Mop up is proceeding, Captain. Don't you worry, ma'am, we'll get everyone sorted to where they need to be.  You just let doctor Briggs attend you.  I'll update you again soon." =/\=

It was only a mild cut from banging her head inside the console like a ping pong ball. Kali made a small noise of disapproval when Crewman T'Varn approached. Her continued disdain for medical personnel attributed to her youth spent as a guinea pig for exonutritionists and genetic therapists alike, even if it was patching up a simple cut. "It just looks bad," she protested. "Even the bleeding's stopped. That officer over there was unconscious for a good two minutes. Check his head first."

The officer she pointed to sheepishly looked around then tried to slink back to his console as quietly as possible. Traitor. But the medical scanner was already fired up and Kali could only sit and try not to pout as she went through another diagnostic again.

T'Varn allowed her glance to slide to the other officer indicated briefly, eyeing him up assessingly before remarking.  "I'll be sure to do a check on him as well, once I have confirmed that you have no serious head trauma.  The request for your care came from the Duty officer and thus takes precedence." T'Varn reasoned out as she ran the scan and reviewed the analysis.

"You are correct, minor laceration to the epidermis above the left ocular socket.  Would you prefer standard treatment via dermal regenerator or field treatment by steri-strips closures and adhesive bandage?" she asked.

As odd as it was to the Vulcan medic, there was a growing fad among many patients to return to simplier methods of medical practice.  T'Varn had thus learned to offer options of treatment.

While she awaited the answer, T'Varn cocked her head at an anomalous reading.  Given the nature of the reading, T'Varn leaned in closer and lowered her voice in an attempt to keep their conversation private.

"Petty officer Reyes, I'm noting elevated levels of estrogen in your system.  Yet your file lists you as infertile.  It could be nothing but I recommend a full check-up, including pregnancy scan with one of the doctors at your earliest convenience."

Leyton was finished.  Of that, there was no doubt in Alex's mind.  With the help of the rest of the task force Captain Sigurdsdottir had been able to assemble - the remainder of Leyton's forces were swept away with ease.  Not one of the enemy ships that had once been among Starfleet's finest had decided to continue the battle after the REDEEMER was clearly defeated.  Between the task force and coalition forces which had joined them - the other enemy ships present in the engagement found themselves swiftly destroyed or dispersed.  This was especially true of the rogue Cardassian warship and the Talarians.  Not one of them survived the arrival of those loyal to Cardassia and Talaria.  Though Alex seriously wanted to pursue the Tholians - enough lives had already been lost this day that he decided to keep the remaining ships present at the battle site.

"Have rescue operations underway for those ships in the most severe need.  Coordinate with the rest of the task force and coalition forces present.  I want full tactical teams ready to board enemy ships that have surrendered in case of treachery, but I really don't expect any.  This fight is over, and they all know it," he ordered his crew, and immediately the XO left the bridge with his Sec/Tac Chief to do exactly that.

Medical had already prepared for such orders, and converted two of the cargo bays to trauma relief stations.  Damage control teams were prepped and ready to beam to those ships in the most dire need in the hopes of salvaging them from complete destruction.  There was no hope for three of them:  ASGARD, PHOBOS, and DEIMOS were utterly destroyed.  The BELFAST became a focal point for relief teams after her heroic efforts to protect the flagship:  CHALLENGER.  He remembered that the crew of the CHALLENGER were fantastic at surviving unusual conditions, but he wanted to make sure they were okay.  He had one relief team left, and one officer - in particular - who would insist on going over.

=/\= "Admiral D'arth to USS CHALLENGER.  I have a relief team preparing to beam aboard to aid you with damage and casualties.  Acknowledge ready for transport," =/\= Alex sent to the flagship.

Maybe it was the pounding from the cut on her head or the rush of adrenaline leaving her ears, but Kali almost completely ignored the last part and just focused on the first question. She waved the robust options off. "The dermal. No scars on the merchandise, please." Then her brain finally chimed like a successful computer reboot. "Wait. What?"

A full check-up. Not again! She almost slumped forward in defeat. She just had one this week! Now she needed another one? Kali was so distressed she couldn't speak. Plasma tests, spinal tap, biometric xrays, dietary plans, hormone levels-

Hormone levels.

She raised a finger as the medic worked on her head wound as the real issue finally caught up with her. "No. Rewind a bit." Her expression was incredulous. "Did you say pregnancy scan?"

At Kali's questioning about the pregnancy scan, T'Varn was polite enough to ignore the incredulous look.  "Yes, Petty Officer Reyes, elevated estrogen can be caused by a numerous things - Pregnancy being one of the more common.  My role as a first aid attendant does not provide me the training or authorization to state such a diagnosis for certain especially in light of your previously noted infertility which is why I advised you to see a doctor."

The damage control and medical relief team beamed arrived in a transporter room he was only too familiar with.  With a nod to the Ops officer at the console; the leader of the team led his group out - splitting into two teams - one for damage control, and the other for medical aid.  He knew he way around this ship, and made his way swiftly to the turbolift.  It wasn't long before his team came to Deck Seven.  Just down the hall was Sickbay, but before that there were four familiar figures first:  Leyton was on ground, but though he hated this man with all his heart and mind - the rogue Admiral was not the focus of his Vulcan eyes.

Instead, they came to rest on Captain Ruth Sigurdsdottir and Arya Sigurdsdottir.  With them was Gohun - one Kyle's security people he had barely had the chance to know.

He went over to the two women without a second glance at Leyton on the ground.

"Hello, Captain.  I see you got your wish," Sukal said with a slight smile that conveyed both relief and gratitude.  "Let's get you all to Sickbay."  He turned to the team members from the USS ELESSAR, and gave only a single nod.  One of the five extra medical personnel came over to check Gohun; while three others went on ahead to Sickbay.  One remained behind to help the Captain and her sister should it be necessary.  "Guess I just couldn't stay away," he joked a bit as he turned back to Ruth.

"UNCLE SUKAL?!" Arya said in shock and ran straight to him to throw herself at her favourite Uncle.

Ruth stared in amazement at the sight before her, blinking a few times.

"Guðirnir eru miskunnsamir, kraftaverk gerast!*  Sukal, my dear dear friend..."

=/\= Some old faces too, or least old friends.  Carry on Mr. ch'Verret, and soon as we can move have Mr. Litt set a course for Innominatum, we'll have everyone meet up there for a debrief and then set off for Earth.  We have some important people to pick up, namely one Elijah Briggs for starters!  Release shielding on Sickbay, I'll hobble down there, I've got people to help me, and we'll get patched up, and those of us allowed liberty, will have it... =/\= she said a grin on her face and a desire to kick Leyton herself.

"You know, I'm almost sad that I had to get my axe dirty,..." she said laughing.  "Can I have it back when you heal that wound, please Doctor?!"

Holding an arm out to Sukal to grab and pull her up by she nodded to Liv, Kyle and Gohun.  "I'll get down to Sickbay, then soon as Lek can get us functional enough to get to Innominatum we'll make our way there, pick up anyone and anything going to Earth and have a quick debrief then on to take in our bounty so to speak.  Good work everyone and thank you."
