Ruth actually raised her eyebrows at Kyle's response.  It wasn't bad, but the fact that he'd not even said 'Welcome Back' told her that he was still angry with her.  OK, she deserved it and she'd cross that bridge when he came to see her later.

"Ah Lahr, come in."  Ruth said with a beaming smile.  She waited until the door was shut, and gestured him to the chair in front of her. "Drink?" she asked.

Lahr smiled, relaxing a bit seeing it was just him and the Captain, no Commander to have to tip-toe around.  He sat down in the offered chair, crossing his legs casually.  Her offer of a drink had the Andorian testing the limits "Andorian ale?  I'll accept the synthehol stuff if you are worried one drink will impair the performance of my duties." he answered with a slight charming grin.

She got herself a refill (and anything Lahr wanted) then slipped back into her own seat.

"I'm glad you haven't commented on the hair.  I'm trying to forget.  I had a fight with a console in the Mjolnir.  It won.  Right first things first.  Thank you my friend, you have been wonderful.  The twins also ask me to pass on their love and thanks.  I couldn't have done it without you.  Whatever you did won't be on your record it will be mine, and look like it came from my pre-set command sets." the Captain gave him a quick grin.

Her remark about her hair earned a laugh.  "Chloe gave me a heads up." he admitted.  "I actually think it looks good. Suits' your face."

Her assurance that his actions wouldn't be noted on his record had his antenna drooping slightly.  Even her quick grin did little to ease his mind.  He merely nodded not knowing what to say in answer.

"But how has it been? Has anyone suspected?  And importantly, is everyone requested coming?  Praetor Aedile, the friendly Klingons, the Belfast....??" she asked, mind on being a Captain.  She changed like a lightswitch not wanting the first meeting they had to be all business, she was glad to be back and with one of her 'family' again.

When the Captain continued on the subject to ask about how things have been, if anyone suspected and if everyone was coming, Lahr took a moment to sip at his drink, organizing his answer. Afterwards, he kept his eyes on the drink in his hand as he answered.

"Honestly, Captain?  It's been tough, keeping them from finding you.  I had to mess with a lot of systems - using your code.  And I'm sorry for that.  I know I went beyond what you directly ordered but I was only trying to give you the best chance at getting the twins back.  I hope there won't be a lot of fallout from it.  As for anyone suspecting... I don't know.  If so they haven't approached me.  If they do however... I won't lie, ma'am."

Lahr glanced up then to speak about the mission.  "Yes, everyone you mentioned to me, I've contacted... as you.  And they are all ready to answer your next call."

"As for not visiting in Sickbay, it's fine... and yeah... he surprised me.  Will took it a lot better than I thought.  I think actually he was just relieved to have me back... short hair and all!  I think he's still in shock.  Hopefully next month will make up for it!"  she gave a playfully wicked look then elaborated.

"I know I can trust you not to 'blab'... so I'll let you be the first I invite.  I don't know if you're aware but my darling hubby has a massive estate and stately home on Earth.  There are cottages, lodges - of the log cabin style and the 'gamekeepers lodge' style, and places to pitch tents all around the estate, in the woods and so on.  Will's never been to Earth having been born on a starship." the CO paused to take a mouthful of coffee then continued pulling a slight face.

"I suppose I'll get used to this stuff but I still prefer Ratkajino!  This is Will's 'Waring Blend'.  I digress. We haven't as yet had a honeymoon, so as we'll have to take Leyton in and attend hearings, give evidence etc etc, I figured we could couple it with a honeymoon, and a month long R&R for the crew.  You can all do what you like so long as you report back for whatever date I decide later... which will depend heavily on how long they expect the trials to last, but there will be a party, BBQs, fun days out.  You may stay in the manor, or in one of the buildings on the Estate.  Say you'll come... and I'll turn a complete blind eye if you and Chloe want to share!"  Ruth winked, well aware of the budding romance between the pair.

"All that matters is that when we leave Earth, the crew are totally refreshed and ready to go out with whatever our orders might be, and have gotten Leyton totally out of their systems!  Now, I believe I owe you a hug... will you actually allow me to give you one?!" she asked, standing.

The Andorian gave the Captain a quizzical look.  "Okay.. but you already mentioned all that to me before... at the pre-wedding dinner... or was it in your quarters before that... anyways you've mentioned it before.. so yeah I'm looking forward to it.  And I know I'm happy to share rooms with Chloe.. but she may say otherwise."

The Andorian gave a bit of a rueful chuckle.  "I'm a bit of blanket hog. She may be happier with her own room."  He'd woken that morning in a tangle of blankets - again - as if he'd been fighting for his life -again.  Poor Chloe had to been left with nothing but a nightgown.

When Helga first smiled, an image flashed across his thoughts and in a panic, he thought what he believed would be his last words. "Blessed Exchequer it quick." When she didn't strike, his mouth dropped open involuntarily, despite his efforts to prevent it from doing so, but he did manage to turn his expression into a toothy grin to match Helga's.

"I believe I would enjoy a round of negotiations Helga. Let's say 1900. I have to get to engineering to let Giancarlo know I am back. I hate to use this reference, but the 211th Rule of Acquisition says 'Employees are rungs on the ladder of success. Don't hesitate to step on them.' Not quite a Starfleet sentiment, but I don't want him getting comfortable covering for me."

Lek stood and pushed the d't' tahg closer to Helga and added.

"I'm kidding about Gianetti. See you tonight."

Helga nodded and grabbed up the d'k tahg tucking the blade into its' sheath and then attached the sheath to her security belt along side her phaser, before heading back to the armory still smiling.  zh'Tianihr of course would gloat with an 'I told you so'  but it was worth it.   Maybe Andorians with their foursome bonding pairs knew a thing or two about relationships.

That's why she was determined to celebrate his birthday, even if was just the three of them for now and couldn't wait to see her son's face with the balloons, she had arranged to be delivered and of course his cake, that she had made herself.

For now as he ran back to her, she scooped him up and made her way inside, the dinosaur balloons grabbing his attention immediately, before he hugged her and she let him down to play.

Re: Mission Brief - Holodeck One - start of Alpha Shift.
Alarm: set 15 minutes prior
Message: The Captain has requested a mission briefing be held tomorrow at the start of Alpha Shift.  This meeting to be held in the Holodeck is for All Department Heads and one alternate as well as specific individuals (Captain Hecate and her senior staff) as called on by the Captain.  The meeting focus will be to discuss options.  Department Heads respond back naming your alternate so I can add them to the 'guest list'.

[Ready Room - USS Challenger]

"I'm afraid synth will have to do since it's from the replicator, I don't think one small Andorian ale even if it was the real stuff would cause a problem, but I don't suggest making a habit of it!" Ruth admitted with a wry smile.  She fetched it and put it down close to his hand.  "Promise that soon as we get to a base after this and or when we're at Waring Manor, I will get you a proper drink.  You never answered about that hug tho!" she teased.

She spotted the drooping antennae and put her head on one side.  "OK, don't lie, but refer them to me.  If I get demoted that's one thing, I'm not having your career ruined for doing the first rule after the Prime Directive - FOLLOW ORDERS!  Besides, the people that are likely to berate you... answer to me as well, that includes my husband." the Captain added pointedly, perhaps accurately guessing that while they worked together for the best efficiency of the crew, ship and completion of a mission Lahr and Will probably weren't the best of friends.

"As for the R&R, sorry, that pre-wedding meal seems a lifetime away after all that has happened and I genuinely forgot that I'd mentioned it, but of course you were there, how could I forget?!" she said blushing remembering the 'just come out of the shower' look.  "I think the way we'll do it is offer couples the cottages, that includes you, if you want to double date with Lek and Helga you may... yes I know about that.  I read signs!  But basically then post a list of available accommodation and people can make whatever arrangements they wish if they are over 18 or whatever their age for legal mating is in their species!" she chuckled glad that she could talk frankly with Lahr.

"And our allies, that's fantastic, we aren't going into this alone and Leyton doesn't have a clue we've got people planted round the top of Breen territory, through it, at Innominatum, DS2 and 3, SB301 and 514, and Hecate plus us... and so far as I can tell there isn't any more heightened activity on or around any of those bases since it looks like they're just doing their normal jobs, that's the beauty of all this!"

The CO paused and took a swig of her coffee.

"This meeting in the morning, we thrash out the planned battle, pull in any intelligence reports from our allies.  I'll want you and Commander Waring to set up a multi-screen conference with the utmost secrecy to the Captains of our ally ships or factions.  I need to have everyone exactly on the same page for this or all the careful planning will come to nothing.  And now I think I need to face the music.  I don't think either Will or Kyle is very pleased with me.  I need to do a bit of grovelling.  I do have a bargaining chip or three however.  Before I get them in, anything you want to query or ask?" she said with a smile. "... about anything."

"If I were human I believe my response would be "go to hell." If I were human."

Zavrol Gohun

  [USS Challenger - Bridge]
While monitoring the security station Gohun thought about her question for a short period. "I am really just using security to get a position that I want later. Eventually, I am going to be the chief engineer on a Federation vessel."
Gohun looked over the counsel and was convinced that no one would be able to board the ship. Sensors were calibrated to detect any new lifeforms that would appear and security was on stand by. With all of that ready Gohun answered the question.
"I suppose the tactical perspective on the job. Many days it is like playing chess. Moves counter moves, guile and deception. " As the rescue mission progressed Gohun begun to feel the end of his brief time on the bridge. While he had done many good things on the birdge today on glaring mistake would probably be what he was remembered for this day. Which makes sence after all he just called the wrong person captain.
Suddenly and out of nowhere Gohun asked "Is Lugis an actual place on the ship or it is a hologram thing"

He was glad the twins were back safe and sound. He still hadn't had a chance to talk with Ruth seeing as she had been on lock down in Sickbay. He still felt a little pissed with her and could only imagine what she and Will had said to each other. He don't know what he would do if Liv had ever pulled some crap like that.

Harrison stood at the controls for the brig cells. He had everything set and ready. It came over that the prisoners were ready for transport. A few moments later, there were two human looking females in one cell and a human looking male in the second along with a Nausicaan. Kyle was gonna have a good time with this group. Bailey knew about his anger with the Captain and knew who was gonna get the brunt of it. Harrison allowed himself a grin.

Gohun looked over at Brigs. Knowing that he was a little quiet keeping security in check for a short time. He could understand Perhaps He had simply forgotten that Gohun was still on the bridge. It was a very stressful day for them both. It was at that point that Gohun logged off his station and went to the turbo lift. Also it was only after the lift was on its way that Gohun acknowledging the message sent.
As that point, Goohun went straight to the brig.

Lek

[Engineering - USS Challenger]

Lek entered main engineering to find Gianetti issuing work details for the day. As soon as the human spotted him, he let out a raucous whoop and rushed over to vigorously shake his hand.

"Good to have you back Chief. We have a surprise for you!"

Lek arched his eye and motioned for Gianetti to continue.

"We completed the plasma conduit upgrades yesterday! No more worries when both warp cores are on line."

Lek blinked and smiled as they had been working on that project for months, that it was finally complete was phenomenal.

"Outstanding work Giancarlo, I thought we still had a month to go before it was finished. Now of course this means I have to put in a request to get you transferred."

Gianetti looked at Lek with a horrified expression, before Lek laughed out loud.

"You certainly fell for that. If I were the typical Ferengi, you'd be in trouble because I'd be worried you were too good at your job for your own good. However, you know I'm anything but a typical Ferengi. You carry on with the work assignments, I'll be in my office. I know I have two weeks of datawork waiting for me and it's not going to get down with me chattering with you. Great work though Giancarlo, all of you."

Lek then sighed and headed into his office to catch up on his least favorite part of being chief of engineering.

[As NPC CSO Evie Wardropper]

"Well I think you'd have to drag Mr. Lek and Mr. Gianetti out of Engineering kicking and screaming if you wanted that position on this ship.  That's not to say that you couldn't transfer some day, or end up liking Security more.  I hear our Captain is pretty open to cross training too, so maybe if your love lies in Engineering you could ask her, and Lt. Lek if you could take a couple of shifts in Engineering... if you already know what you're doing then it would just be covered in logs as 'departmental cross training'."  the CSO smiled at the young Crewman.

"Oh and I think there might be a day trip coming up over to the Tal'Bath if you're interested in looking at Romulan tech and engineering.  I could put a good word for you with the relevant parties if that's something you might like to do?" Evie said her Grandmotherly side coming out.

"Now I believe you have a posse of evil kidnappers to deal with.  Try to stop Mr. Briggs from killing them!" she joked.  "He's quite territorial about the Sigurdsdottir-Warings, they're like family to him and he goes all 'Big Brother gonna make you hurt' on anyone who hurts the Captain or her sisters.  I'm relying on you to keep him in check,..." she said playfully.  "... I don't think his wife would take kindly to him coming off worse in a fight against a Nausicaan!  Play nicely down there!"

As an afterthought she smiled.  "And yeah, Luigi's is real.  Damn good pizza too!  I might have you boys..." her glance took in Lahr, Litt and Gohun.  "... out for pizza one night, then you can try to whoop me at poker!"

Hecate had a meeting with her heads of department and decided first, who was going to be going over to the Challenger meeting with her and second, acquaint them with the fact that they were going to be allowing members of the Challenger crew anywhere they damn well liked.  There had been a few protests, but a slow raising of one eyebrow had quelled them.  She wanted to let people like Lahr who had previously been mistrustful of her and her crew to see they had nothing to hide.

Now that they were scurrying like rats to get anything they didn't want the Challenger to see put away, personal stuff.  Others, mostly those in lower ranks, were actually quite excited and wondering how best to welcome them!  Hecate had rarely seen the crew in such a tizz one way or another.

Smiling she decided to put in a call directly to the Chief Engineer on the Challenger.

=/TB\= Captain Hecate to Lt. Lek,  I don't know if you've had my invitation extended to you but previously when some of your crew were over on my ship I don't think you were permitted to look at our Engineering Department.  However, while we're sitting here in planning mode I'd like to offer the opportunity for you and up to 3 of your personnel to come over and do just that, ask as many questions as you like.  Just let us know when you'd like to come across, I'm limiting it to 3 merely for amount of extra bodies down there, I'm sure you understand.  We aren't a huge ship and we have recently ish had an upgrade so we're a lot faster and more streamlined.  We had to after the Gol shot large chunks out of us.  Let me know, Hecate out!  =/TB\=

When she extended an invitation for he and three other engineers to come aboard her ship the Tal'Bath, he was stunned to silence. Kali Reyes

[USS Challenger - Deck 8 - Botanist Lab B]

High above the hydrophonic lighting fixtures was Kali hard at work doing nothing much but claiming the backlog of non-essential maintenance fixes during all the commotion. While it was nice to make a dent out of the practical stuff needed on the ship, she was insanely bored and decided this was the best way to people watch while she worked.

Her current victim was a Benzite female named Cloa, who watched Kali balance on the gravity lift as she reinforced the plating on the fixtures. It had gone unhinged during the last ship brawl and while it was a mild safety hazard for the delicate plants it belonged on the backlog. Cloa had been rather stunned to actually see Kali arrive with tools.

"Slow day?" Cloa said upwards at her. "I didn't think you'd actually fix anything around here. You usually just come down to try and steal one of the recreational plants."

Kali tilted her head down. "Are you saying the blood lilies are in full bloom early?"

"Touch my plants and you die."

"I didn't hear a no." Kali finished the final screw and hopped down. She suddenly roved a critical eye over the botanist's attire. "You're wearing a skirt."

With a nervous clear of her throat, Cloa stiffly tugged at the hem of her immaculate Starfleet-issued variant uniform. "So what? You're wearing a skirt too."

"With good reason," Kali said slowly. "It accentuates the birthing hips, which raises my diplomacy with procreating-obsessed aliens by 30%."

"You just pulled that out of your-"

"Another reason why a skirt is useful to me. Much easier to pull numbers out of my nicely shaped behind." Her gaze turned sharp. "You hate people. And you hate dressing up. That's why you got a degree in plants and eat your meals way too fast just so you can avoid talking to anyone. It's not a bad gig, considering plants can't judge you for walking in every morning in Starfleet sweats. Your whiskers are also neat today, but you're midway through your shift digging around proto-hallucinogenic manure - which means you're routinely slathering yourself up in moisturizer."

Cloa rolled her eyes and sighed in exasperation. "I can't just try to look nice today for no reason? Everything has to be a conspiracy for you?"

"What's his name?" As Cloa sputtered, Kali added, "You're obviously dolled up for dinner after shift. Unless you did this all for me, in which my response would be 'I'm extremely flattered, but my current squeeze prefers old-fashioned monogamy'."

Just as she got Cloa to open her mouth and spill the beans, Kali's combadge beeped. After a moment deciding whether to just toss it into the nearby wastebasket, she reluctantly answered. Her shift officer was ordering all Engineering hands back to deck 13 for some kind of vague reunion. "When I come back, I want a name. Else the blood lily gets it."

"They're not in season!" Cloa complained, but Kali was already picking up her tools on her way out the door.

Chief Dradis was checking all the ships on the shuttlebay as he did every day, just checking that all flight controls were fully operational in case any ship needed to be flown in a hurry, as it had previously done.

After finish his round on that, he looked at the time and started to prepare himself to go to the bridge and take control of the helm when he remembered that Litt was already back in service.

He took a deep breath and decided to relax in the mess hall for a couple hours. Once there, he asked simply for a black and strong coffee when he received a message.

He read that and answered readily.

Best regards, Dradis.

Litt entered the bridge greeting everyone present and walked to the helm, surrendering Ensign Ozoim.

"Good job Miammaso, I can take her now, and you can rest... If you want, you'll probably find Chief Dradis at the Mess Hall..." He said with a smile, remembering the habits of his DH.

Right after Ensign Ozoim left the Helm, Litt sat there and just kept waiting for orders.

"Luigi's is the best!  Maybe not so much for the pizza but for the entertainment.  You gotta come out one night for Game Night with my former team mates.  Have you worked with Helga yet?  Or Skaggarg?  The whole team is awesome. Anyways... you gotta go.. but yeah I'll throw you an invite the next time we meet."  Lahr called out to the Crewman.

The synthehol wasn't his first preference but it was better than nothing.  He nodded to the Captain as he accepted the drink.   When she remarked about the hug, the Andorian gave the Captain a grin.  "Trying to behave myself, Ruth." he joked, purposefully using her name rather than her rank for it's shock factor.  "You're married now and well Chloe might get the wrong idea if she found strands of red-hair on my uniform."

Being told to refer questions to the Captain, while smart, didn't settle right with the Petty Officer.  Lahr didn't really respond - he just gave a non-committal shrug.

When the Captain turned the topic to the shoreleave at Waring Manor and suggested he and Chloe double date with Lek and Helga... Lahr's expression looked like he'd rather eat tube grubs.   "Maybe..." but he sounded doubtful.

Lahr smiled hearing the Captain's pleased tone at his update on the other ships and allies.

Hearing that the Captain wanted him and Will to set up multiple screen comms.  Lahr nodded.  "Easily done ma'am.  We'll have it set up for first thing in the morning."

Lek

[Engineering - USS Challenger]

Lek was torn regarding Hecate's invitation. On one side of the coin, there was the opportunity to see Romulan technology up close. On the flip side of that coin was... Lek didn't like to think about how bad that side could be, but Hecate and the Captain were friends of sorts and it didn't seem like the Romulan would double-cross her.

Still, he had to be practical and he knew he couldn't bring Gianetti. If the invitation was a trap, he wasn't about to core out the leadership of the engineering department. No, he would be the only officer to go, he'd tell the computer to randomize all the enlisted in engineering and have it give him three names.

"Can't get more fair than that." He said, but before he could tell the computer to execute, he was interrupted by a message from the bridge.

Lek rolled his eyes at the nosy Andorian meddler and managed a short reply.

"The wedding was a success. No, we never talked about me, it wasn't the place for that. And, not that it's your business, but Helga and I have an understanding of sorts. Now, if you excuse me, I have a lot of datawork to catch up on."

Lek then tapped the screen in front of him and the computer provided three names.

Senior Chief Petty Officer Mulchano Kossura
Petty Officer First Class Kali Reyes
Petty Officer Third Class T'roth

Looking through the names, he felt the three were a good mix of experience and, let's face it, expendability should this trip be a trap. He sighed and tapped his commbadge.

=/\= Chief Kossura, and Petty Officers Kali Reyes and T'roth report to my office." =/\=

Lek hated knowing that he might have just signed a death warrant for these three crewmembers, but it wasn't as if they'd be alone if he'd misjudged Hecate.

She would never officially tell Lahr that had Will not come back into her life, she would have made a play for him.  He was the only currently unmarried male on the Challenger she had the slightest interest in.

One of three males at all... the other two however were very definitely married.  One to herself and one to her Deputy CMO, and she viewed him more as a brother, had he not been married however, things might have been very different once upon a time.

"As for our R&R... we'll play it by the Ferengi in question's rather ample aural appendages shall we?!" she laughed seeing Lahr's face.

Lek was forcing his way through the mountain of datawork that had amassed during his absence when he got an outside call directly to his office from the Romulan... pirate? rebel? freedom fighter? He didn't know what to call Hecate, but he knew he had to answer.

=/\= "Uh, Lek here Captain, how may I be of service?" =/\=

When she extended an invitation for he and three other engineers to come aboard her ship the Tal'Bath, he was stunned to silence. He thought furiously if there was any reason she would betray the captain or want to take Starfleet prisoners and couldn't think of anything. He knew he was taking too long to reply, so he quickly answered.

=/\= "I'm honored Captain. I must, of course, clear this with my captain before transporting over, but if you give me an hour, we'll be there." =/\=

Lek then closed the connection and tapped his commbadge.

=/\= "Lek to Captain. I've just received an invitation from Captain Hecate to go aboard her ship with up to three members of the crew to tour their ship. There is a risk this is a set up, but I think it would be worth that risk for the opportunity to get a good look at Romulan technology." =/\=

"Speaking of the same..." the CO said with a giggle.  "Is this one of these say his name 3 times and he shall appear things?!" she winked at the Andorian opposite her.

=/\= Hello Mr. Lek, welcome back.  I trust the wedding went well and you enjoyed yourself.  Anyhow business.  Yes I was aware of this, she's extended the invite to all departments to go over in dribs and drabs, on account of the size of her vessel.  However, Hecate inviting you personally, take that as an honour.  She is, I believe just trying an open door policy in the hopes that anyone who had any lingering doubts about us having a Romulan as an ally might have their fears dispersed.  She did after all rescue my twin sisters.  Take who you like, although I recommend you take over Ms. Reyes.  I think she might find some time off the Challenger beneficial.  She has a keen mind and you never know, might come up with some fun things we could try over here.  Be sure to speak with their engineer to see how we might tandem with them in some manoeuvers.  I trust you to talk to Mr. Briggs and potentially I think it's Ms. Vireka and Mr. Xarain ... Hecate's Chief of Engineering and Chief of Sec/Tac respectively.  Contact Hecate directly, and have fun.  See you at the meating in the morning! Ruth out  =/\=

"Now then, where were we.  Ah yes... the meeting." Since they were talking about business again she allowed the 'Ma'am'

[colour=redWell I leave it all in your, and Will's capable hands.  You've still got the list of ships somewhere I take it?  Well...
Suddenly and out of nowhere Gohun asked "Is Lugis an actual place on the ship or it is a hologram thing"Gohun looked over at Brigs. Also it was only after the lift was on its way that Gohun acknowledging the message sent.
As that point, Goohun went straight to the brig.

"Would help me... stress management!" he said with a lascivious lick of his lips deliberately showing all his teeth.

"Well,.." Rosa said with a resigned look.  "He does look rather young.  Excuse me..." she asked of Crewman Zohun.  "This is a genuine request as I'm really thirsty, would your Lieutenant permit you to get me some water.  Please?!" she said shooting a pair of pleading eyes at Kyle.
