Zavrol Gohun

Gohun was excited about the new ship and the potential to go fight space pirates. This will be just like in the movies. The only thing Gohun could do is be patient.

Don Damien Addams

[As Don Addams - Horizon Bridge best crew in the fleet]

"Raw eggs?" Don asked Therem with a wide smile. Don was having fun. Got make the crew happy. A happy crew make a happy ship. and Therem had a similar history on a ship, so Don felt he could relate to him.

"Horizon might be able to run circles around Martha, but she can hold her own," Don said as he set the Horizon on its course. Don loved being at the helm. This was what he was made for, although space racing was his favorite. Space racing was exciting but had a lot of downtime and was expensive.

Don grinned. "Welcome to the Bridge, new folks. You're under the best command," he said with a confident smile.

Lieutenant Danjar-Torra Addams
[Outpost Solaere - Deck One - Operations Center]

Having been left 'in charge' while Commander Garrison saw the Horizon off, Torra was biting at her lower lip in consternation at the report of pirate activity in the vicinity.  Flashbacks of their first attack froze Torra with indecision, so much so that Aryth left the Bridge without permission.

Ignoring the Vulcan's disappearance for the moment, Torra tried to get better readings on the pirate vessel, but the stations sensors were barely operational - there was little to no information she could provide other than that the ship was out there waiting... ready for them.

Then before Torra knew it, Horizon was undocked and headed towards the threat.  Just the way the ship turned to its new head, told Torra that it was her husband at the helm.  Fear gripped her and her stomach rumbled unhappily.

"Be safe.." she whispered as the Admiral and Captain arrived.  Torra nodded to each silently, returning to her own station where she reached for a carrot stick to ease the noise from her upset stomach.

lt. Sven Aune | Space Walk | Human bomb defusing|

Sven worked on the torpedo. Whatever had reprogrammed it, did a terrible job. Obviously some sort of novice hacker and they failed to clear out the cashed memory. Well, to be fair, it was encrypted.

A couple of minutes later Sven watched the Horizon take off.

He tried not to be annoyed. But if he was honest, he was more than pissed. Here he was, risking his life to disarm a quantum torpedo. A threat to the small salvage craft, his shuttle and the station (because half it's stupid shield emitters were not working) and the brass were going on a joy ride. Great. Just great.

He pushed the thought from his mind. He had dangerous work to finish.

=/\= "Aune to Outpost Solaere. I'm about to inject the quenching matrix into the quantum foam. Stand by. =/\=  He left this line open and merged it with the next.

=/\= Aune to flight controller Chi' and Lindsey of the Surplus Suprise. If things go south, get the hell out of here. Go right to warp. Injection in 3... 2... 1..." =/\=

He inserted the vial and pressed down on the injection port. At the same time he released the standby command on the torpedo. This was it. If he fucked this up. Well, he would meet his maker...

A few seconds later the swirling blue quantum foam dimmed in luminosity and went out. He managed to disarm the thing.

=/\= "Disarm complete. Please send this thing to the forensics lab, Solarere. I want to do a deeper dive. =/\=

45 minutes later Sven was back on board the outpost.

Kinley Garrison

[Main Ops]

Kinley nodded as she raced to the Operations Center along with the Admiral. How she'd find that mole was anyone's guess, but at the same time, they had to keep an eye on things in the sky if they needed to call for backup. All at the same time.

The place bustled as differing reports came in about the pirates. She didn't blame them from being on edge again. The scars of the last attack had still yet to be fully repaired from view.

Looking to Torra, she gave a nod and tapped in her command codes to temporarily scramble any listening systems. " Thanks for keeping an eye on things here, Torra. Would you run an internal scan of the systems? We may have confirmation that a mole is listening in on the systems giving the pirates some kind of heads up.  "

Suddenly, the power flickered. That didn't seem to be normal, especially if it was related to the mole. =/\= Um... Engineering, We seemed to get some power fluctuations here.  could you send someone out to check it?"=/\=

She looked at Torra. "I think this might be a lot more serious than anticipated."

=/\= Counselor, Mr Aune, Can you meet me in my office by Main Ops? I will need your insights too.' =/\=

Feeva was now standing, her tiny hands on tiny hips, issuing instructions to everyone around. "Nurse T'Lis, please start discharge procedures for as many people as possible. Cadet Rimous, please start rounding on patients. I am turning on the EMH; I have a counseling patient in an hour," she said. "He will be in charge whilst I attend to that," she said. Herself went into the supply room to begin restocking things.

She was interrupted by the Commander's voice on her Comms.

She received a raised eyebrow but the chief complied and after checking with the Horizon that they were expecting - gestured for Lindsey to mount the pad.

That disconcerting sensation of all of ones molecular parts going in every direction whilst staying stationary was never one to enjoy.   Some people liked it, and you couldn't deny it was convenient - but flying across in a shuttle was a lot more entertaining.

The pad on the Horizon faded into view

The news of possible phaser burnout on the Horizonfrom Admiral Gillespie was troubling, but there seemed to be a workaround using photon torpedoes. The solution wasn't perfect, but Charlotte had difficulty imagining a permanent fix that wouldn't require a few days at a starbase. She thought about the problem while Gillespie continued with his speech. And then she heard her name called.

"Sir?"
inquired the ensign, becoming nervous as Commander Garrison and the Admiral whispered. But soon, anxiety gave way to surprise as Kinely applied the black pip to her collar. The new Lieutenant Junior Grade couldn't help but smile, blushing slightly at the applause and attention. "Thank you, Admiral Gillespie, Commander Garrison. I will –" Though she did not want to make a speech during the surprise ceremony, Charlotte did want to express her gratitude and devotion to Starfleet. But duty called as Yeoman Aryth Castellan approached.

| Ensign Fawkes | Science Officer | Bridge | Deck One| USS Horizon NCC-75668-B |

With the outpost in danger, Lt. Fawkes raced to the bridge with the rest of the senior staff. She had not helmed a science station onboard a ship since the academy. Once seated at the station, she readied the console. The oncoming pirates were a serious matter, and Gillespie's concerns of the phasers replayed in her mind. Murphy's law may not be recognized by science, but it seemed just as real as any Newtonian law. The woman let out a sigh, ready for what lay ahead.

He would miss the opportunity to test out all the high tech cleaning equipment, such as the dust degausser gun, but he was confident that acting a sensor operator would be just as interesting. As he settled into his seat across from the Tactical Officer, he immediately began to reposition the monitors to his liking. He stroked his beard and muttered to himself (a bad habit he picked up after working alone in a desert for so long) at the many scanning protocols and engineering subsystems to monitor.

"Damn, I could tell what the pirates ate for breakfast with some of this tech..."

Since he didn't know all the Federations customs and courtesies for working on the bridge, Therem didn't want to do or say anything that would get him immediately fired. However, he noticed Ensign Fawkes (or was it Lieutenant Junior now?) on the bridge as well. He gave her a silent, double thumbs up for her promotion as well as well as her new assignment.

[Commander Nira Said | Bridge | Deck One | USS Horizon NCC-75668-B]

Upon being informed that Lindsay had transported over, Nira tapped into internal comms. "Bridge to Transporter Room. Welcome aboard the Horizon, Ms. Aubrey. Report to the bridge, please."

Seeing as Feeva had elected to head back to Solaere, Nira could understand. Once Lindsay got to the bridge, Nira told her, "Glad you can join us, Ms. Aurbey. Man the Mission Operations station, please." She pointed to the station at her immediate left, normally the third station like on a bigger ship's bridge.

She felt glad by how the Horizon flew, but she can easily tell that it was Don's piloting that made the Horizon feel well and truly like it was a living being capable of flight. She remembered the Revenant's helm officer and smiled inwardly; if only Nathan Cutter had the chance to meet Don Addams. She was especially aware of the gathered crowd in the overlook restaurant cheering them off in a sendoff as they took off, recalling from the gathered crowd she passed as she came aboard; she could see their cheers from the viewscreen.

"Tactical, can you identify the enemy vessels?"
Nira said to V'Larinn.

"I detect seven vessels,"
V'Larinn responded. "Three Romulan cruisers, K'Tinga-class of Romulan make, and four Birds of Prey, T'Liss type II class. All vessels are bearing signatures indicative of Orion pirate vessels."

"The usual kinds of ships that had been attacking us the past two months,"
Nira replied solemnly.

"Those pirates got to have absolute guts to raid here while the fleet's at the station, even in patrol," muttered Commander Mail in astonishment.

"Not necessarily, although I can agree on the pirates' level of boldness,"
V'Larinn said. "I will need verification from the other sensor stations," he added, looking around at the other Bridge stations, "but I can determine they're heading toward a small cluster of ships in orbit of Ciden X: three Andorian cargo vessels of cold storage units, and two Starfleet vessels, the Tolstoy and the Bennett; the pirates are heading toward them and in attack formation."

"That makes sense," Nira said. "Attacking a Reliant-class and a Steamrunner-class, as opposed to any other ships in the fleet. One's an older ship, the other's been attacked before, so they'd know weak points. They've singled out the weak link, like a pack of jackals going after two sickly beasts of burden. And for all we know, they're choosing this moment to attack because Solaere's weapons array will be offline while it's reworked."

Nira then looked around herself and directed orders to the bridge crew. "Lieutenant Addams, full impulse power. Take us into an intercept course. Lieutenant Fawkes, Mister Estrevan, verify the sensor readings. Mister Nelois, hail the Tolstoy and the Bennett, let them know we're coming to help. "Ma'am? Sven? What's going on?" she asked, as she stepped into the room.

[Lieutenant Savar | Operations Center | Deck One | Outpost Solaere]

Savar had been at the bridge, helping Torra at Ops. It was good to be discharged, but the limp was evident, owing the removal of two toes to amputation, along with the scarring...and the resultant new hairdo; he now sported the mohawk hairstyle, and he had a burn scar at the back of one side of his head. Equally evident was the scar extended from his left forehead, cutting through his left eyebrow, and barely reaching his left eyelid. The EMH did the best he could, and mentioned that he had to return for some sessions so that the burn scars will be fully healed.

As the shift progressed, the detection of pirates returning prompted a sharp reaction throughout Ops. Savar especially noticed Torra when she saw the Horizon departing. He didn't need to hear her words to know it was her husband piloting the new attachment starship. He put a hand on her shoulder to offer comfort; he had gotten to know the Addamses well enough to get to know them.

"Do not worry, Lieutenant," Savar said reassuringly. "We know what your husband is like. If there was ever good hands at the helm, it would be the hands of your husband, one of the best helmsmen I've ever seen and gotten to know."

He looked around and was in time to see Commander Garrison and Admiral Gillespie arrive at Ops. And then for them to disappear into Garrison's office.

[Admiral Hamish Gillespie | Commanding Officer's Office | Deck One | Outpost Solaere]

At the arrival of Lietuenant Aune and Counselor Drylo, Gillespie explained himself, feeling that Garrison's own codes had done their job in scrambling any listening systems. He explained about the eavesdropping mole and added, "It's like back on the Athena, as I remember in then-Captain Carter's reports, except back then, the Athena was being bugged in crucial areas. Here, the bugger behind this is actually using station systems for eavesdropping and then calling their mates to muck things up...that was what I was actually doing when yeh saw me last night, Lieutenant," he added.

[Emergency Medical Hologram Mark XII | Main Sickbay | Deck Fourteen | Outpost Solaere]

Shimmering to life, the EMH automatically gave his greeting: "Please state the nature of the medical emergency..." And then he was astounded to see twice the amount of medical personnel. They had to be temporarily coming here, he didn't recognize most of them. Well. Nurse T'Lis and Cadet Rimous he recognized, owing to the medical files attached to the station being uploaded into the system.

[Outpost Solaere | Medical Bay]

Doni watched as Feeva activated the EMH and then rushed off to the station's bridge. He turned his attention back to the shimmering form of the Emergency Medical Hologram as it materialized, and the hologram gave its usual greeting.

"Uh, Sir? You're in charge, I think," Doni said, his voice tinged with a mixture of respect and a touch of his characteristic awkwardness. He straightened up, trying to project confidence. "Dr. Drylo had to attend to something urgent. We're seeing patients and discharging as many as possible. If there's anything specific you need me to handle, just let me know."

He glanced around the bustling medical bay, tricorder sounds amidst the faint groans of patients, and it both settled and unsettled him in his new environment. He felt the weight of responsibility but also the excitement of being in the thick of things. "I've got this," he muttered to himself, hoping the EMH hadn't picked up on his nerves.

Lindsey

[Acting Mission Opps Officer | Lindsey Aubery | Bridge | USS Horizon]

It is a well known fact - that size is relative.  This ship was no different.  The USS Horizon was the largest Federation starship that she had ever been aboard by several orders of magnitude.
Multiple decks, redundant systems, crew that could operate in shifts.  These were all new experiences after several years of shuttles and runabouts.
Exiting the transporter room (A whole room!) she was faced almost immediately by the turbolift.  Turbo might be the wrong term for a ship this size (after all it only went to three floors).
"Bridge" She stated, the doors slid shut, and almost before she had time to think - opened again.  Turning to the right she stepped through another door to the bridge

"Glad you can join us, Ms. Aurbey. Man the Mission Operations station, please."

An abundance of starfleet uniforms, and here she was in her grubby red overalls.  She felt out of place.  Actually that was a lie.. She *was* out of place.
Rounding the pillar she came face to face with the Mission Operations Station, the pseudo familiar LCARS display glowing in the default configuration.
Feeling like an imposter, she sat in the chair and stared at the display, terraquads of data at her fingertips, an army of sensors inside and out, rotating algorithms interpreting the gigawatts of returning EM wavelengths, spooling index registries of uptodate system statuses. - She stared blankly at the screens, information overload dripping from her ears.

The Ship pulled away from the station, a prime example of starfleet efficiency, Orders were issued, responded gathered and discipline clear.
This wasn't going to work..  It needed to work.

"From the beginning dumbnut" she said to herself.
Function by function, she removed items from the display until it was just the external sensors.  She simplified those down to the most basic elements possible, and then started building it up again.
The advantage of LCARS was the ability to design user specific interfaces. This she did, adjusting the colours, the bandwidths, the frequencies, even the language defaults.

Information that she could understand now started to build up on the screen, Those ships in the distance being sorted into categories that made sense to her, but probably no one else.

Ms. Aubrey, check for particular patterns in how the pirates are working, and coordinate with Lieutenant Addams.

"Yes Mam, Captain, Sir..?"  Smooth, real smooth.. Idiot..  Am I really here, on a starfleet bridge, about to engage pirates in an offensive?  What in killick's name is going on?
What was known?
Firstly, there were a lot more of them than us, 3 Battleships against a.. What was the Horizon, a science escort?  Crap.
Secondly, to use that many at once suggested they were not in top form,
Thirdly, Orions. Thieving backstabbing so-and-so's... - But a known sort.

"Addams, The big ships will likely retreat if they sustain anything substantial, They can't afford to lose their motherships.  The smaller ones will be expendable.  They are probably not on top form as friendly dockyards of a size to accommodate are few and far between, I'll start sweeping for weak points or previous damage.  A common attack pattern is to have 3 dive in formation, and the rearmost to duck under the foremost and strafe the victims engines from a place of safety."

I wish I had some coffee..

To be honest, she wasn't quite sure if it would work. Her specialties were not exactly in criminal investigations. But if they could figure out this guy, maybe it would save them the hassle and drama of a full-on manhunt.

We're in Starfleet here. Weird is part of the job description.

Stryker

lt. Sven Aune. Ready room.

Sven was about to dissect that torpedo when he received the call to meet Commander Garrison in the ready room.

The large man made his way up to the command deck.

He entered the room and listened to Garrison. He had suspected that there was an informant. And he was working with his team to flush them out. But moles were tricky. They were skiddish, and rarely just admitted who they were.

"Commander, we've been doing routine sweeps. Of course this is deliberate, 'cause a mole would see the pattern and get complacent. That's when we change things up. But we haven't gotten that far. We also can't rule out the possibility that it's a program within our central systems."

Feeva smiled at Sven when he came in, but kept her attention trained on Kinley.

es. Thanks for your help.  So.. there has been someone definitely sneaking around here reporting back to the pirates. I don't know who exactly it could be, but according to the Admiral here, there's some patterns they've noticed, which means there could possibly be a modus operandi we can trace to possibly profile the mole and figure out who they might be out of everyone down here, if that makes sense. Hence why I've brought you guys here, to see if it's even possible to do a criminal profile on whoever might be doing this  so we can catch them before they do more damage.

She couldn't help but let out a sigh.

"Ok," she said, understanding why she was there. "Lt. Aune, just let me know what you need from me," she said. "Commander, I will work with Sven and security in whatever way you need," she said.

Ms. Aubrey, check for particular patterns in how the pirates are working, and coordinate with Lieutenant Addams. Mister V'Larinn: Raise shields, ready weapons. All hands to battlestations."

[Ensign Kela Nelois - Bridge USS Horizon]

Kela nodded in understanding. He quickly sent a message announcing their arrival, He recieved a response from the Steamrunner-class, USS Tolstoy, first, "Commander, The Tolstoy is reporting engine troubles, in an attempt to outrun the pirates they've overloaded multiple capacitors and are down to only 3/4ths impulse." he relayed the nessecary information to both tactical and engineering. The USS Bennett, the Reliant-class, reported that they were operated within parameters. Their Captain wanted to personally hail the Horizon to thank them for a prompt response but Kela politely replied that he will simply pass on their appreciation and to remain on their current course.

After recieivng reports from both ships he uploaded their flight paths and current trajectories to the pilot and tactical stations. Keeping coordination with the 2 vessels would be important in the coming battle and as the ship went into red alert and the bridge darkened and Kela watched his station light up with more battle relevant information he took a deep breath, this wasn't his first fight, nor did he intend it to be his last. He just hoped this ship would be up to the challenge.
