[Commander Nira Said | Shuttle Control Corridor | Deck Ten | USS Washington]

Nira scowled at Captain Akar at his words. Him and his other security officers didn't intimidate Nira one bit.

"The hell you are," Nira sneered. "He's murdered some ambassadors that have Starfleet endorsement. He's interfered in Starfleet matters, and he is to be turned over to Starfleet. In any case, what concerns me is who brought him. Him and the half-Reman assassin, and hauling him to any so-called penitentiary of yours prevents me from questioning who hired him.

"Now, I have trusted you thus far in apprehending Koto, but my trust only goes so far, Captain Akar," Nira continued scathingly. "Like given your use of a Federation starship regardless of who you really are. And every moment we argue about it is more time wasted to get off the ship and evacuate personnel. Especially since we're down here where we can let in shuttle personnel for faster evacuation. I and my officers take Koto. No argument."

She tapped her comm badge.  =/\= "Said to Fawkes. Well done. Now you, Estrevan, Jerin and Harris pack up and meet us at the shuttlebay." =/\=

She then called Kinley, keeping an eye on Akar and his men in case...  =/\= "Said to Solaere. We have Koto. We have less than fifteen minutes. We'll need as many shuttlecraft as we can to assist in the evacuation, and to pick up escape pods in addition. Said out." =/\=

She then looked back at Akar and his men and said defensively, her hand and legs ready to move, "Now, do you intend to get on with the evacuation, or do you intend to get in the path of me and my team?"

[Main Ops]

They caught him. That was great.

=/\= "Roger that. I've sent in all available personnel and even was able to hire some civilian crew to help get people out. Keep an eye out for the Surprise  and the Rift Angel. They should hopefully be enough to get most of the evacuees and pods out, but we have transporters on standby should you need them. Get out as soon as possible. "  =/\=

Therem took the mask and began to put it on wihtout really knowing what he was getting himself into. The ensign worked some computer magic to create some sort of gas trap for the fugitive. He was amazing at how fast the officers could work with their tech, it was certainly different than what he was used to working with on the surface of Ciden IV.

"Well you guys did all the work, it seems I'm just here to make us look good. But let's get off this ship before it blows up."

=/\= "Said to Solaere. I just realized something. We may need to have Mister Koto transported to the brig, the faster the better in case he has any tricks to pull in a shuttle. Lock on to my tricorder signal and transport him over." =/\=

She put her tricorder on Koto. Once he was beamed away, Nira proceeded with the Washington crew to the shuttlebay. Jerin and Harris, Nira could see, arrived before they did, and were working at shuttlebay controls. The doors opened and showed the first ship awaiting. An old shuttle, and Nira was instantly reminded of Don Addams' own ship, the Martha.

The first of the evacuated arrived eventually. Some escape pods were launching. Ten minutes remained before warp core breach.

"Captain Akar, see if you can get your helmsman, before he departs, to get this ship on a course away from Ciden IV and Solaere on thrusters, just in case," Nira said to him.

[ lt. Sven Aune | Brig | Outpost Solaere ]

Sven had received the signal, and ops did their job. They did a security sweep of Koto's body as they beamed him into the brig, to ensure that anything foreign would be removed.

The brig itself was had a circular floor plan, with the cells along the circumference. The entryway into the common area held the security desk that, when seated at, a security guard could physically view the occupant of each cell.

Koto materialized into the brig cell across the common from Dersch. Meaning there was a wide empty space between them.

Sven smiled, "Computer, initiate lock-down."

The computer chirped, and the magnetic interlocks clicked as they de-energized. Large reinforced steel grates slid down from the ceiling, in front of the force fields, and clanged into grooves that opened in the floor. Loud clicks could be heard as the locking mechanism grabbed the bottom of the grates and fastened them securely. Each grate was a half ton of steel.

Sven smirked. " Forcefields are unreliable, an' they suck. Doesn't hurt to 'ave a contingency plan in place, right?" he said with a hard eye to Dersch. But before Dersch could respond Sven continued, "Computer, initiate silence protocol."

The inmates could talk to security, but they were unable to communicate between each other.

"best that way, eh? Big bad villain that eluded you for, what? Years? An' all it took was a science officer an' an aquifer prospector an' a quick thinkin' plan t'nab 'im. An' that, my lad, is the power of team work. Makes me wonder Dersch. If yer just incompetent at doin' security work or if he's jus' a stupid nincompoop, or both.  Not that it matters anymore."

He clicked his com badge and spoke into it. A few seconds later, 4 armed security personnel took up their positions. One officer on each side of the grate/forcefield combo, ensuring 2 guards per person. Sven didn't move. His place was right there. Koto was going to answer for his crimes. And so would Dersch.

A moment later, the court recorder arrived.

Still, on Deck 11, Fawkes moved to the turbolift as the cascading effect continued. An explosion from engineering shook the lift, bumping the ensign into Therem. "Apologies, Mr. Estraven. I should have braced the wall. Anyway, thank you again for your assistance. If it helps, this is my first warp core breach." She smiled, somewhat embarrassed by the cringy attempt at gallows humor. "We should reach the shuttle bay in plenty of time."

The lift stopped at its destination, Deck 10, near the shuttle bay where Fawkes allowed Mr. Estraven to exit first. "I'll be right behind you, Therem." Thankfully, it wasn't long until they met up with the commander.

"Commander Said. We're back and very eager to leave. Might I add that Mr. Estraven made us all look good during a harrowing experience."

[ Shuttle Surprise |  On approach to the Washington  |  Aubrey ]

Lindsey lifted up her Bicorder, thumbed the communicator setting and began
=/\= USS Washington, this is Shuttle Surprise on final approach for EVAC assistance.  Please disregard any sensor readings regarding the structural integratory - she'll hold together.  Will be docking PORTside main hanger unless advised otherwise.  My life support can sustain 37 standing for the short hop to the station, I have no medical facilities on board, transporter is non operational.  Surprise out =/\=

The shuttle banked as the curves of the much larger starship filled the forward viewscreen, the Washington looked peaceful out there - just hanging in space - nothing to suggest any form of situation was ongoing.
Her short range sensors suggested a different story - one that implied salvage work for scrap in the near future.

The main bay doors were already open - so someone still had their marbles about them.
She monitored an old oscilloscope strapped to the co-pilots chair - the waves jumping when the shuttle crossed into the guide beacon for approach.  She couldn't risk using the auto land functions, the Washington didn't know the shuttles tolerances - but the glide path was useful.
"Throttles to idle" she monologed to her self "deflector off, power to landing clamps"

The shuttle came into full view of the bay and began to decelerate using controlled bursts from the thrusters to maintain attitude whilst matching the roll of the target.
The outer hull flickered as the Surprise passed through the forcefields that kept the air in - before she pirouetted and finally touched down with the rear doors facing the crowd of Starfleet and the like.

Powering down the thrusters (with the cinematic vapour dump for no good reason other than it looks good on film) she punched the door release and started prep for take-off again

"All aboard for Solaere - last one in shout and we'll get going at speed!"

[Commander Nira Said | Shuttlebay | Deck Ten | USS Washington]

"Of course, Ensign Fawkes," Nira said with a beaming smile. "And my compliments to you as well, Mister Estrevan."

As the clock chimed down and more systems were growing unstable, Nira was amazed at how fast the ship had cleared. Nira was especially glad to know how safe Liv and her children are, in a shuttle that would've felt like old times. It was a pity to Nira that Security was going to have to arrest the bulk of the crew of the Washington. On the other hand, they were mercenaries, even if they were Federation-sanctioned privateers. Privateers that had gone over their heads.

It was one thing to steal a starship, but to subject it to so much technology that could cripple it? Nira reflected that the brig was going to be full for the first time since Cloten's arrest, particularly within her first week on the station.

Most of the shuttles had gone, escape pods launched. Only the Surprise was remaining, and there were three minutes remaining before core breach.

Ensuring as many people were aboard, Nira got her team inside and watched alongside Lindsay Aubrey. Damn, for somebody with as much criminal credentials as Cloten, she was quite the pilot. She made a note to have her be in consultation with Flight Control, or even coordination. She then wondered if Cloten would be up to something similar...then again, Cloten had his business, he was a community leader...

And Nira had to admit, the Surprise reminded her a great deal of the Martha, Don Addam's old ship. The thought of it made her remember Don, and a pang that she missed the uncle figure Don was.

"We're ready, Lindsay,"
Nira said. "Launch!"

They were just in time. The Washington, limping as much as the thrusters would let her, exploded in a blue fireball, shockwave and all. Nira figured all the blue had to be the result of the quantum slipstream overload on top of the core breach.

"Everybody okay?" Nira called. "Fawkes? Estrevan? Akar? Liv? Lindsay?"

[Brig]

Kinley walked down to the Brig, nodding to the various people running it as she went. She really hated to have to do this, given that she had gotten to know Dersch and his family since she was asked to be godmother to his little girl, but stuff had hit the fan, and she had to figure out what to do with this.

"Hi, Stryker.  Thanks for dealing with things here. Is there anything I can help you with?  Hiya Steve!" She restrained herself from being too enthusiastic toward the little raptor, as much as she really wanted to.

Coming up to JB's holding cell, she gave him a piercing stare, really hoping she got her disappointment across. "Mr. Dersch, You know this was an incredibly dangerous thing that you did, correct? I know it got the job done,"  She said, looking to Koto in the next cell over, "But risking your wife and daughters like that is something else entirely. Believe it or not, I actually care about their safety. You asked me to be little Katie's godmother, after all! " she emphasized before she started pacing. "I know Commander Said might have her own words later, but I wanted to talk with you first and hear your side of things."

We're in Starfleet here. Weird is part of the job description.

"We're ready, Lindsay," Nira said. "Launch!"

They were just in time. The Washington, limping as much as the thrusters would let her, exploded in a blue fireball, shockwave and all. Nira figured all the blue had to be the result of the quantum slipstream overload on top of the core breach.

"Everybody okay?" Nira called. "Fawkes? Estrevan? Akar? Liv? Lindsay?"

[Olivia Dersch -  Shuttle]

"Everybody okay?" Nira called. "Fawkes? Estrevan? Akar? Liv? Lindsay?". Olivia nodded. "Yes Commander" Olivia then whispered to Nira. "Commander, Please don't be to harsh on My Husbands Punishment, He acted out of good will for the Outpost and You guys, And Us, None of us would have expected he would would sabotage the Washington, Since his wife was on board."

[JB Dersch  -  Brig  -  Oupost Solaere]

JB watched Kinley enter and nodded at the Washington crew who were also being held. Which was not surprising. Apprently they stole the Washington, When He bought the ship, And Didn't steal it.

"Kinley....I did what I did to protect this station. And Its People, Koto has never shown any signs of wanting to harm the Washington itself, And I am surprised he did, Since his wife was on there as well" JB replied. Which was odd as well, He wouldn't mind killing or hurting his wife to get payback..

Getting on the shuttle finally allowed Therem to relax a little, and seeing the Washington explode in a distant, blue shock wave made him realize how close they were all to becoming space dust. He was impressed by the Federation's calmness regarding the whole situation, but he figured they must have a good therapist somewhere on-board Solaere Station.

"Still alive! Also, I'm not that familiar with the Federation, but surely Fawkes will get a pay raise or some medal for warning everyone about the engine as well as capturing that Koto guy? Or at least some free vacation days to a more tropical planet."

[ lt. Sven Aune | Brig | Outpost Solaere]

Sven frowned. He leaned in close to commander Garrison. He spoke in a soft tone. A whisper so Dersch, Koto, or the court recorder wouldn't hear.

"Sommit ain' addin' up here Commander. The fact that Koto's wife was on that ship indicates that she may 'ave been taken against her will. Possibly kidnapped by that crew and Dersch. Why else would she be there? Lookin' fer 'elp? I've asked Dersch for his letter of Marquis that would grant him the authority to act on Star Fleet's behalf, but he's made no move t'present it. So that means he's been actin' as an unlawful policing force, which goes against Star Fleet's charter. If there is any way t'salvage his career, how he proceeds with this may very well utterly destroy what little he has going for him. I advise that we tread very lightly."

He pulled away and gave Dersch a very sad look.

[Commander Nira Said | Operations Center | Deck One | Outpost Solaere]

Nira was soon back at Ops, reflecting on Estrevan's words and making a note to talk to Kinley later in regards to rewarding Ensign Fawkes. "Ah, Kinley...there's been a lot to take in...We have some things to discuss. Torra," she added, looking to Torra, "if Starfleet Medical still has a comm link, send it to Kinley's ready room, please."

The two women entered the office. Less than thirty-three minutes later, they were back out, Nira having a PADD in each of her hands, and sporting a disgruntled expression written on her face. Nira turned to Torra and spoke as Kinley left.

"Torra, Kinley and I had just finished chatting with the examiner of Suvin and Sot back at Starfleet Medical, Doctor Bertram, while we were discussing Dersch. He kept insisting he made a mistake when I kept telling him that he ought to have re-examined Sot and Suvin if he did so, that it was irregular of him to change it so fast where it took an examination for Bendii Syndrome days. He's kept up his insistence and has cut me off...I know this, he was lying. He sounded so bland and repetitive, I don't need to read body language to know he is lying...

"I'm going to be having words with Koto and his accomplice, and Dersch, too, Torra, but I need you to send this to Admiral Gillespie, to let him know of Doctor Bertram's suspect behavior,"
she finished, handing Torra one of the PADDs. "Meantime, I have some people to talk to...one to give a reprimand to, the other and his accomplice to interrogate."
