[USS Discovery - Deck 1 - Ready Room]

Nevir was now monitoring the ship systems after looking over the crew complement and assessing the state of the ship.  This was doable; Starfleet really was a mess.  It was more than just the station.  He hit the controls for a private comm, a two-way path just to a singular person.

=/\= "Tekin to Rayek. I have the numbers you need.  145 out of 175 currently. 15 targets. I'm understanding, but I'm not sure if the away team does yet.  But it should be soon, I think.  Hrafn is monitoring.  I'll continue to secure everything here from the station." =/\=

Nevir then took his time going through the ship systems, looking to see if there were any types of control signals already in the ship's computer. There... that should be it.  He started using his codes to lock down the access points, but a virus seemed to already be in the system.

"There you are... I see...." he said, standing up and walking to the bridge.  At the same time, there was a growing surge of power in the plasma relays as the virus activated.

As soon as he stepped on to the bridge, he turned to one of the science stations as if he saw something, and walked over.

"Mr. Broadshire, comms are cut correct?" he asked, looking over the station.  After the answer, though, and with the report that there were growing power surges in the weapons array, he shook his head.  "Release the pressure on the phaser banks and shut them down... and shut down main power.  We have to purge whatever they got aboard the ship."

[Ensign Lilly Hansen - Tactical Station]

As Lilly's eyes darted across the Bridge, she caught sight of the Captain marching purposefully towards a science station. Once he reached his destination, he paused for a moment before barking out a series of orders with a commanding tone.

"Release the pressure on the phaser banks and shut them down... and shut down main power.  We have to purge whatever they got aboard the ship."

Lilly responded promptly as she tended to her station, stating, "Affirmative, sir. I am currently in the process of deactivating all weapons systems. Do you have any further directives that you would like me to execute?" Lilly wasn't really the type to say what she just said like that but She rather not [spoiler]Piss[/spoiler] off the Captain, She already did with the CEO, XO and Lt.

[Station - corridor outside Transporter room]

The Romulan looked over the assembled Away Team eventually turning his attention to the Lieutenant Commander who addressed him.  Rayek appeared thoughtful a moment, then queried. "Only stunned?"

This was problem for him. "They'll wake soon." He remarked with a frown.

He looked over the group until he paused at the Security Lieutenant who had followed him down the corridor.  "I want you and any other Security present to bind and gag those that are stunned then catch up with the rest of us on Deck One.  We're going to retake the Operations Center."

Then without waiting to see if the others had any questions or suggestions on how to do that, the Romulan headed for the turbolift with a purposeful stride.

Quote from: Lorut

She looked at Grippen. "You go," she said. Like HELL was she going to pass up an opportunity to investigate what the hell was going on here. Even if it meant violating every rule in the book-well. She hadn't read the book, so she didn't care.

She headed down the corridor in the opposite direction, towards the Sickbay from where they came. From there, she made her way quietly, and quickly, to the Science labs, lobbing off phaser fire and the occasional trip of a zombie mutineer as she went. They fought back, but she was quick, and only took a few small blows.

[Station - corridor outside Transporter room]

'Only stunned? That was a curious thing for the commander to say. What had he expected? For us to be killing our own? Before he could take action to prevent it, Vila had ran off on a one-woman mission directly disobeying orders. That was something they could deal with later, right now they had more pressing concerns with gaining control of the station.

Malik and rest of the away team assembled in the turbolift and Malik set their destination to deck 1 - operations. He studied their Romulan commander out of the corner of his eye, wondering what was going on inside his head.

Vila shot a look at the Romulan commander.

Vila snorted but nodded. "Yes, sir," that's what she'd just told the Captain.

"Aww, the Commander found a spine. That'll do Commander, thanks," she said, with a fake smile. She stepped out of the Transporter room, weapon at the ready. "I'll find out about the yell. Grippen, cover me," she said, loudly. She sighed. She stepped to the left to turn, but was interrupted by the annoying Romulan yet again.

She looked at Grippen. "You go," she said. Like HELL was she going to pass up an opportunity to investigate what the hell was going on here. Even if it meant violating every rule in the book-well. She hadn't read the book, so she didn't care.

Earlier, at hearing the rather disrespectful comment from the Bajoran, Rayek wondered if he might be better off sending her back to the ship right then and might have done just that, but was distracted by the arrival of the Lieutenant Commander who updated him on the away team's status and of the stunned 'mutineers'.

With his orders given, he expected others to follow. It was only as the team was congregated in the turbolift and just about to arrive on Deck 1, that he noticed that the Bajoran was no present - since in retaliation for her remark, he was going to send her out first.  "Where did the Bajoran go?" he queried but there really wasn't much time to discuss, nor time to change his plans.   With an scowl, he tapped his comm badge.

Rayek looked over the remaining officers with him and pointed towards the Vulcan and the Lt Commander.  Best to get them dealt with quickly.  "You and you... will take point.  Our objective is the command center 50 meters which has been under siege for quite sometime.   I recommend phasers on heavy stun."

He then looked to the Caitian engineer (easily identified by the woman's toolbelt) and the Trill medic (again easily identified via her med-kit).  "You two will back them up, and take over point should they fall."   The tone in which he stated that suggested he found that scenario rather likely.

There was a ping announcing their imminent arrival.

Once more Rayek didn't ask if anyone had questions, he simply expected compliance.

It was at this moment that a messaged pinged on Rayek's comm badge.

[Station - corridor outside Transporter room]

Before she could ask "˜how' she was to bind them, he was gone and Tanner was left to get inventive with her partner. After a brief scour of the area, they found some supplies and secured the stunned mutineers. As she finished tying the hands of the man whom M'nia had impressively taken down, she felt his muscles twitch.

Was he waking already?

Her brow furrowed and she quickly double-checked his restraints. They seemed secure. Tanner released an unsure breath and stepped back to get the gag. When she turned back around he was staring at her, causing her to inwardly jump but outwardly stare back.

"œPlease." He said to her, still half-stunned so his speech was partially slurred," You have to let me go."

"œNot going to happen," Tanner responded, her tone cool and flat, "œWhat is going to happen is that this gag is going over your mouth. A thing you can fight me on or just, accept."

"œNo no..listen." He panics slightly and shifts, testing his hands, "œYou don't get it. The clones. The clones have taken over."

Tanner lifts her brow, "œMhmm.." She rolls her eyes, "œI don't have time for this. I need to find, Commander tr'Lhoell and - "œ

"œNo!" The mutineer pulled hard on his restraints and growled, throwing his body forward towards Tanner's legs, knocking her to the ground, "œLet me GO!"

After a brief scramble to her feet, Tanner pulled out her phaser, "œYou had to do this the hard way."

"œBut THEY ARE OUT THERE." He yelled while writhing on the ground.

Her thumb found the button and fired, causing his body to go limp again. There was something about his voice that kept her staring a second longer than needed. She shook it off and gagged him before rejoining her crewmate and heading to find the Commander.

Before Tanner, Dranik and his team could take the turbolift up to rejoin with Commander tr'Lhoell and the rest of the away team, they received new orders.  Locate Lorut and send her back to the ship.

[USS Discovery-B | Sickbay]

Savyn was silent for a moment, a heavy feeling sitting restlessly in his chest.

"... Yes, sir."

He nearly choked on the words as he forced them out of his dry throat, his eyes fixed on the dead man below him. He swallowed hard, trying to maintain control over his emotions, but...  it was rendered quite difficult, suddenly. Slowly, Savyn returned the defibrillator to its case, his movements stiff and disassociated.

'Death comes for all things,' he told himself, his internal monologue almost berating him for his illogical response. 'You know this. You are a child of Surak. You spent months as a child in the monastery, you memorized scripture all your life, surely you haven't forgotten it all? Now that you've been faced with mortality for the first time? Now that you've looked ma'toi directly in the eyes?'

Savyn didn't know how to answer himself. He couldn't answer himself.

Slowly, his limbs far too heavy to carry, he stepped away and turned to one of the other patients. He was needed elsewhere.

The Romulan boy who had been playing quietly with his dinosaur toy, looked up with a slight concerned frown and glanced about.  Not seeing Eneh's friend, he tried to head out to where he'd seen him earlier but his route to the door was blocked by another, the one called Belanger.

"Go 'way. Want Eneh's friend!"

Betaika took a short amount of time to write his report, which was a haunting reflection on the very little information that he learnt about the patient now lying in the morgue across the hall. Taking a deep breath, he submitted it, confirmed by the chirpy beep that could not read the tone room. Walking back toward Savyn, he found that he was working on a male, no older than 50. He was conscious, which was an improvement to the state he was when he arrived. Betaika noticed him peering across the sickbay toward him, so he started to clear his throat to welcome him to the ship. He sat bold upright as Betaika moved closer and started to mouth some words to himself. Years in the service meant Betaika could practically read lips with his eyes closed, but the slurred pronunciation and his clear sluggyness meant that Betaika couldn't make out many of them. "œRomulan, station, here, and" he posited with little luck.

Savyn however, being nearer, could make out the man's slurred accusation far more clearly.  "Dammit... just what we need another Romulan.  It's bad enough with the one on the station.. now we gotta deal with one here and play nice? Screw that... where's the Captain?  I demand to speak to the Captain."

Savyn jolted slightly at the man's outburst, seemingly surprised at his sudden movement. His voice was louder than he'd been expecting, making Savyn's head pulse with a flare of pain. He grimaced, just slightly, but bit his tongue to keep his reaction subtle.

Carefully, Savyn placed his hands on the man's shoulders and delicately pushing him back down onto the medical bed, despite his protests.

"Please remain calm and still, sir, you are injured," he said simply, electing to ignore what he'd said. "I am your physician. I will not harm you. I request that you allow me to continue my work without further interruption."

Malik yelled towards their assailants who had been trying to break into the Operarions Centre.

"Cease firing, we're Starfleet! Lay down your weapons! This is madness!"

It made no difference. there was no cover in the corridor, so Malik simply had to rush forward and hope for the best. He was acting on pure survival instinct as a mutineer barrelled into him causing them to both fall to the floor.

"Die stupid clone!" the mutineer yelled. "˜Clone? Why did he think I was a clone?' Malik hoped his battle brother Alvarez was fairing better than him and could apply a nerve pinch.

[Ensign Novi - Station turbolift]

Novi was a little stunned hearing she would be right behind Grippen and Alvarez, as a medical officer she would definitely NOT be in the front with them, doesn't really help with supporting and providing aide where nessecary. In fact...where was her phaser? With a sudden sense of urgentness she felt around her waist and had to put her hand in her medical robe to grab her phaser. She felt her heartrate highten, she was feeling better but her confusion at having to be one of the first out of the turbolift and having to take point distracted her to the point where she couldn't ask for clarification of the first officers orders.

The doors to the turbolift opened and Novi saw the opening scene of the battle from a position she never thought she'd see. She didn't even know how to, "take point"! Her brief second-long confusion was quickly interrupted by watching Grippen and Alvarez come out and begin firing on the Starfleet officers. Their cool efficiency couldn't be appreciated as Novi, a few seconds later was forced out of the turbolift right into the fight.

Unfortunately her survival instincts didn't exactly involve shooting back at the officers. Especially due to their weird behaviours and calling out to them to stop shooting. She got herself together enough to fire a few shots at her opponents but none of them hit. She barely ducked underneath a phaser shot to her chest and watched Grippen get tackled by one of the officers. "Why did they call him a clone?" she aimed her phaser and fired at the officer, stunning him and moved forward to make sure Grippen wasn't seriously injured.

She ran a quick scan on her tricorder as he was getting back up and she was glad to see he was uninjured and about to close her scanner but something caught her eye. Thanks to her speciality with scanners and having a keen eye on their reports she saw something strange. All of Grippens bones in his chest were perfect.

Normally no one would bat an eye at this but as a Medical Officer Novi knew that should be strange, when someone breaks bones or gets operations done even when they heal there is typically some mark of the new bone that replaced the old bone. She personally conducted a surgery on him a year ago on frontier day of an almost shattered ribcage. There should be plenty of scarring on his rib bones.

Now then why is there none?

All these thoughts took just a second in her mind but anymore thoughts on the matter were quickly interrupted with a phaser blast right at her. If she didn't raise her head at the perfect moment she would've been struck dead right then and there. Instead she was hit on her right side and simply fell back onto the ground gasping from the shock.

If she didn't raise her head at the perfect moment she would've been struck dead right then and there. Instead she was hit on her right side and simply fell back onto the ground gasping from the shock.

Rayek had a hand pressed against the pneumatic turbolift doors, holding them open while he watched the battle from the relative safety of the turbolift.  A quick head count showed that there were four opponents as Malik and the Vulcan made their charge. That count was now down to three thanks to the Trill medic's good aim with her phaser.  However, her inattention to her surroundings left her open to being fired upon herself, resulting in an injury that likely was debilitating.  An acceptable loss to the Romulan, if he could end this stalemate and gain full control of the station.

Rayek continued to study the skirmish. The Vulcan should be able to take down one of the others - either by the famed 'Vulcan neck pinch' or by sheer strength.  If he could avoid being hit by their opponents phaser fire.  The Caitian, with the Lt Commander's help, should be able to manage another, leaving just the command uniformed officer at the far back for Rayek to take care of.

Rather than attempt to fire on the station commander through the chaos of bodies moving in the corridor, the uniquely skilled Romulan went for a more direct approach.   He cast his mind out towards the man he could see at the other end of the hall.   It took only a moment for his mind - now long clear of the drugs used to prevent his ability - to find the other's mind and force it's way in, seeking the last code he needed.  His search was by no means discreet or gentle.  The station commander screamed as the Romulan triggered every pain receptor in the man's mind as he dug through memories old and recent for the information he sought.

"Argh! No!!  Get out of my head!"

'The self-destruct command code.  What is it?' the Romulan pressed mentally, knowing that for many untrained in fending off telepaths - that just the mention of a topic would bring the information to mind.

Eventually, there were fewer lab-coated mutineers to defend against, and Lorut arrived at her destination.  The cloning science lab.

Inside there were nearly a dozen man-sized vats, each partially filled with what she might assume to be a nutrient-rich cloning gel - smelling much like a mix of aloe vera and ethyl alcohol .   A closer look at the vats would show several of them with still damp spillage along the sides of the vats, like as if something possibly man-sized had been removed recently.

If she went to check the lab's computer, she would find a 'hacking device' attached to it, and a half cup of raktajino - still lukewarm in a novelty coffee mug that read "Yes, they do go all the way down".  The words being surrounded by several Trill-like spots.

At the far end of the room, was a biometrically locked door.

The nurse denied him from leaving the room and instead tried to redirect his attention to the hologram of the velociraptor.  "Come play with Evie." but Fvienn had lost all interest in the dinosaur and instead stared at the exiting door with intensity.

Ensign Belanger was concerned that the child was going to refuse and have a melt down of tears, something the nurse really didn't want to deal with.  This became more of a possibility as the little boy grimaced suddenly in pain and covered his ears.

Lek

[Main Bridge - USS Discovery]

Most likely because his attention was already focused on the buoys, Lek spotted their change of status almost immediately as it happened. His eyebrows arched high and he barked out.

"Shields up! The buoys are coming back to life!"

As Lek had not been given the bridge, he wouldn't issue any further orders but he certainly could make recommendations.

"I suggest we get under way and begin blasting the damn things, this is no time to be preserving assets!"

[Station, Deck 1, corridor towards Operations Centre]

"˜You', "˜should I fall'. This didn't sound like the usual Rayek at all, perhaps the Romulan was having a really bad day. In any case, Malik didn't have time to argue as the corridor became a maelstrom of phaser fire. Charged nadion particles sparked in the air and the haze and heat of them made Malik's face flush red.

M'nia was baffled. Why did they think that the away team were clones? still they would defend themselves. "if you're smart, you'll surrender now. We don't want to hurt you but we will defend ourselves." she wasn't sure it would do any good but she would still try.

While Rayek had his attention fixed on the man at the back, the two remaining opponents, now in close quarters with the charging away team, were unable to get a phaser shot off without risking themselves or their comrades so they changed to the battering tools - sledge hammer and pry bar - they'd been using on the door.

There came a panted, bitter laugh as one of the two exhausted looking men, both in disheveled lab coats, swung at the Caitian that tried to bid for their surrender.  "You don't have clue what's going on here, do you? You aren't who you think you are.  You're just being played.  You can't be allowed to stop us." he wheezed hefting his weapon again for another swing.

The man at the far end of the corridor screamed unintelligibly then dropped unconscious for no apparent reason.

M'Nia's opponent, at the scream, paused and looked about in alarm, finally looking past her to the turbolift.  "Dear God, no. The Romulan is out."

Malik Grippen

[Station, Deck 1, corridor towards Operations Centre]

Malik was saved thanks to a shot from Novi that disabled the guy that was on top of him, but she was then struck herself in the side and fell. One of the others dropped to the ground screaming in pain leaving just two assailants. One of them complained that the 'Romulan' had escaped. Curious.

However the Risan was tired of being shot at and so fired off more shots finally stunning the last two assailants. The corridor and entrance to Station Ops was now clear. But first, Novi. Malik rushed over to her and saw the nasty wound on her side. He grabbed her medical tricorder and ran a scan, she was lucky - the wound was superficial a second degree burn. Probably hurt like hell.

"Ensign Novi, you're going to be ok. Tell me what you need..."

[Ensign Novi - Station operations room]

Ensign Novi was trying to control her breathing, she heard Mr. Grippen tell her things were alright and she was glad to hear that but she was focusing on not falling into shock and managing the pain, "My medkit....there's a dermal regenerator and a hypospray." her right arm was useless from the phaser shot and it was unfortunately where her medkit was so she just pointed with her left hand. "If you could hand me 3 ccs of anesthizine and apply dermaline to the burn we can use the dermal regenerator to repair the skin." She trusted there was nothing broken so as long as she was helped up and the burn treatment applied she hoped it would be just that. It wasn't her first time getting shot at, or shot for that matter, but it still didn't make it any less dangerous.

While Malik was helping her though her mind went back to the scans and her curiosity got the better of her, "Commander, forgive me its probably nothing...and this will sound a little crazy, but did you do any bone therapy or replacement surgery recently?"

A flicker of frustration flashed across Savyn's face, but only for a moment. He placed his hands back down on the man's chest and pushed him back down with a bit more force.

"Our captain is... Unavailable, for the time being," Savyn explained carefully. "And even if he were, we would be much more willing to speak with you if you were well. Now, please lay back and allow me to treat you, or I will be forced to administer a... A sedative..."

Savyn's words seemed to slow as he could sense Fvienn's nearby vexation-- though he couldn't entirely tell if it was from his Vulcan hearing, or the telepathic bond he had with the boy.

[USS Discovery - Deck 1 - Main Bridge]

Nevir continued his work on the station, and with his face facing the panel screen and not anyone in particular, he gave a small smile.  At least his crew was working as intended.

"Miss Hansen, actually yes.  Take the torpedoes offline as well.  They won't get to use our armaments for whatever they are planning on doing." he stated, as he continued going through the main computer.

At that moment, however, the targeting systems were locked.  Tactical couldn't aim the discharged beam.

"The buoys have the same issue affecting the ship, Lek.  If we don't get main power offline then they are going to have control of both the weapons platform and a ship.  Besides, I've seen the schematics... these buoys are not standard issue.  They have heavily modified."

"Wait, what the-..." he asked though, as the discharge finally lanced out of the phaser systems.... and right into a buoy.  It caused some damage, but it certainly didn't destroy it, or even disable it. And on top of that, the discharge burned out a phaser bank. He looked over at tactical for an explanation and once he got it, he frowned.

"Lek, go down to main engineering and secure the warp core.  I think its time I question these Intelligence scientists.  Not even Hrafn knew what they were up to." he stated, standing up.

"Dem, you have the Bridge."

The doors to the sickbay opened and the Captain walked in with a raised eyebrow.  "That's alright, Mr. Savyn.  I am here now.  I have some questions of my own about that facility." he stated, walking up to the rather unruly patient.  He looked down at the scientist and a frown grew on his face as he stared hard.

"Mr Savyn, prepare a sedative just in case.  This may get ugly." he said, his eyes not leaving the scientist.

"We know what you were experimenting on.  So lets try from the top.  Why did the station revolt?  And why have Starfleet officers been trying to kill members of my crew.. or worse." he said, as the doors to Sickbay opened and another figure walked in.

Lieutenant Commander Hrafn Falleq-Tekin, causally walking over and appearing in the scientist's view next to her husband.
