Following a discussion with a couple of players and also the CLO team, I've found that some people prefer/can read the CURRENT font better than the NEW/PROPOSED font on the ID cards.  Some it's optical issues, some it's the difficulty of reading one or other fonts on a phone/tablet etc.

So we're putting the vote to you, the players.  Do you prefer:

('CURRENT' - 'Glopentine-Bold-Bold' )

('NEW' - 'Roddenberry')

I will go with the majority. Also all 'old' cards with the smaller size I will get around to updating to the larger size once we have some kind of consensus on this.

P.S. Dr. Yona I will update your card to USS Discovery once we have this sorted!

No worries but I vote for the font on my card

I don't mind the new font, but since there's problems with it, most notably difficulty reading it on a phone/tablet, then let's keep the old font.

I'm happy with either but I'm curious, do you use the id badges for something that helps you game-wise?
to tell them who the co/xo is?
to tell them which department people are in?

If that is the case, Is there something we can do to make them less dependent on id badges?
put the rosters down with the missions for example?
edit our profiles to say "CO, XO, chief of ..."?

Can the font SIZE for the new style be bigger?

Aesthetically speaking I like both, but with practicality in mind, I prefer the old/current one.

(Additionally to the mentioned phone/tablet issue-), as someone with bad eyesight, even on a regular desktop PC I have great difficulties reading the new font, and I can imagine that might be the case with other people too.

good suggestion.

That might make the letters easier to read too I would think

As a newbie, the ID Cards are an essential reference that I use to double-check who's involved in a simm. I look at them frequently to remind myself of what someone's rank is, and what department they're assigned to.

I like that the new font has a 'capitalized' look to it. I second the interest in seeing the 'new' font in a larger size. If it's possible, increasing the space between the characters (kerning) might also increase legibility.

All that being said, if I were voting between the two formats presented right now, with no changes to the new text, I would vote to keep the older text. The older text, while it does have case differences, is still more legible than the new to my eyes.

The new font was hard to read, so I like the old font. My eyes get tired by the end of the day when I usually get the time to post lol
