To Have and to Hold (Don/Torra)

Saddened at Don's announcement that there was no more, Torra was about to suggest checking the computer for other such poems or writings by the same author, when he leaned closer and began to whisper to her.  His words, a poem made for her, caused a blushing smile to light up her face.

"That was beautiful, Don.  Let me try."

Seeing his wife blush was one of Don's favorite things to do.

She thought a moment about what features of his she wanted to describe.

"My husband is to me like a blanket warm and securing.  I am comforted in his presence.  His laughter rings out and cheers me when the day is long.  His loving words caress, scintillate and excite til all I long is to be held by him to let our passions clash and thunder.  He alone could be my upsol and I would not want for company."

The husband had to blush as well. Then he fell quiet as he stared into her eyes. "Those eyes are beautiful," he shared to her. "You amaze me, honey. Is there something you ever wanted that I can possible get you? I don't have the power inside me to grant you a galaxy."

The husband had to blush as well. Then he fell quiet as he stared into her eyes. "Those eyes are beautiful," he shared to her. "You amaze me, honey. Is there something you ever wanted that I can possible get you? I don't have the power inside me to grant you a galaxy."

Torra still leaning against his side, smiled as he stared affectionately into her doe-brown eyes.   That he found her eyes beautiful was special to her.  She had never been overly concerned about her appearance before - but found that she did like receiving complements from Don.

When he asked what he might get her that she had always want, she considered his question seriously.  It wasn't so much material things that meant the most to her but mementos from an experience shared.

"I've never been to a ... Carnival? ... is that the right word? Like an a park but with games and rides?  My friend Lahr used to tell me that the best dates were at carnivals."  She nodded.  "I'd like to go to a carnival with you and win a 'toy stuffed animal'."

A chuckle had escaped Don. "I heard Bok-Char telling stories about that. Maybe Lahr was the one tell him that as well," he admitted.

"I am not sure how they are like. We can see if there are any programs. Lahr could help us on that. You think you can ask her?" he placed his hand in hand.

Torra quirked her head slightly at Don's suggestion that it was Lahr who told Bok-Char.  The flight officer knew Lahr?  She wondered how that was possible... until Don continued and suggested that they could ask Lahr to help with the program, and then referred to Lahr as a she.  Torra laughed softly.

"I believe we are thinking of two separate people." Then to ease the hurt of her laughing she gave him a sweet kiss on the cheek, before explaining.  "Lahr is a friend of mine from Challenger.  He's Andorian... ShranLahr ch'Verret.   But you are correct, I suppose I could contact him and ask for a copy of his carnival program.  Does that sound good?"

A jealous appearance came upon the Flight officer. The mention of a male friend seemed struck a nerve. That was a foolish thought. "Oh. He must have thought you wanted his kids," he joked. "Andorians are not bad, but they seem to always think everyone is out to get them." He had wondered how a party of diplomacy with Orions and Andorians in the same room.

"Well, Bok-Char has a way of twisting stories and people. Maybe I missed the name. Possible Bar...you know Barbara who was recently transfer from medical?"

Don's expression changed to one Torra had only seen him wear once before.  Torra frowned as he joked about Lahr thinking she wanted his kids.  "Don, I don't find that funny. And yes, I know Andorian's aren't bad.  I am a rather good judge of character."

She didn't comment on his belief that 'they seemed to always think everyone is out to get them'. That didn't sound like Lahr at all.  Perhaps Chief tr'Lhoell back on Challenger, but not Lahr.  Mind you Lahr had often said that his family thought him a disappointment.   Torra wondered if that was because he wasn't paranoid.

She turned her attention back to Don as he tried to explain it all away as mistaken identity.  Torra sighed and played along.  "Barbara?  I don't believe I've met her yet."
