[USS Discovery - Deck 10 Hallways]

Jettis could feel the odd, curious stares crawling down his back, mercilessly. The man stoically stared straight ahead, not betraying just how embarrassed he was to be doing this. The 40-lbs dog in his arms, however, looked as content and happy as ever. Maw parted and ears back, she panted, mouth looking akin to a grin. A grin that said 'hah, you had to retrieve me in front of all your superiors and subordinates alike'. Jyur hated that grin.
"How am I going to talk to Rees about this?" The comment was more of a grumble under his breath, as he shifted Ida's weight for the third time, as he made the trek to the turbolift. He knew everybody was curious, but he desperately hoped nobody was curious enough to ask him what was going on.

'How to I explain Reese was playing dress up with the dog, and let her out into the corridor?' And of course, a dog was a rare and unusual pet to see on a Starship. Especially one larger than rat-sized, like a Chihuahua. So everybody was happy to welcome the dog into their quarters, give her a snack from the replicator, and let her run the ship. It took him half an hour just to track her down, only to find she had been keeping company with Main Engineering. He was just fortunate he wasn't on duty, and had to either shamefully leave the bridge, or send some lackey to retrieve his dog.

"But it wasn't you're fault, was it?" His voice transformed from the stern, aloof Lieutenant to a low babytalk, briefly burying his face in the dog's fur, before meeting her eyes. "You're a good girl, huh? Here," glancing over his shoulder both ways to make sure nobody was directly in front or behind them. Quickly hoisting the dog up and over, he balanced her on his shoulders in a shoulder-press. Perhaps even more funny than his previous cradling her like a baby, he continued past the Shuttlebay, his walk of shame almost at an end - finally.
Just as he thought his misery was coming to an end, he nearly collided with a flight officer coming from the Shuttlebay. Dipping his head, he tried to maintain is aloof, unconcerned air and facade. "Entschuldigung" He murmured, giving the man a soft smile, before turning to continue his plight.

Don had been tidying up his work load of his team he had. There was Alexander Graham who was doing an astonish job. He knew there was great potential in that young fellow. Graham had played a good role helping to evacuate Katra. The truth everyone on his team had done a good job.

Then he got up from his chair and fixed his hair as he saw the reflection off the mirror he had on his desk.

He gave the plaque of last good look recognition to Sally Ride a shuttle who had been served and was destroyed. He had attachment to that shuttle. Truth was that Don had attach to any flying vessel. Even the old Martha was with them. The shuttle bay was able big enough to keep her along. She was a very good asset to the mission on Policyon II.

That mission went well for a rogue group. That under cover was fun but risky as heck. The weight that his name was mention by Commander T'Lara by accident and the others. Some what like being toss under the bus. The reason he was very worried because he was afraid that was going to come back and bite his own Captain. It was not like the Rogue landing party was trying to mess things up. Who knows maybe nothing will happen. He had wished they just called him Don Addams and not use his rank.

He was rudely interrupted by a man. "Hey watcha----" Don was about to let his anger as he saw the golden fur in a man's arms with his head down. Then the dog licked Don's face, and again and again and again. "Hey, heyhey now stop it!" As he was smiling from the dog excitement.

Jettis tensed, preparing for a solid tongue-lashing from the random he had bumped into. His soft smile melted away as he turned. Spine straightening subconsciously, he appraised the man head to toe. "I'm sorry," he began, realizing perhaps his blurting an apology in German didn't register as an apology. He started to resume speaking, when suddenly Ida perked up. Starting with cautious tail wagging, then more excited as she squirmed. Straining her neck, she reached over Jett's shoulder to deliver a huge lick to Don's face. Then another. Then another. A stunned, the baffled look flitted across Jettis' face, as he observed the interaction. Suspicion briefly slithered over him as well, as he took another look at Don - a real look at him. His face, his features all came suspiciously close to being recognizable, but just missed that mark of clicking into place. Jettis was positive, that if he looked for long enough he would come to a conclusion, but realized that staring wasn't the best introduction. Instead, he gently hoisted Ida off his shoulders and lowered her to the ground.

"Ida, FuÁŸ." The command was given sternly, and obeyed willingly as she twisted and placed herself between Jettis' feet, although her tail still thumped and she still stared up at Don with a signature doggy grin. "I'm so sorry about that, normally she's so well behaved." Suspicion and confusion gone, he offered Don an apologetic and sheepish look, as he stuck his hand out to shake. "Lieutenant Jettis Jyur, science department. Can I make it up to you by buying you a drink in the lounge?"

Jettis Jyur. That sounded awful familiar. The dog was very excited to see Don. The language of the science officer had hit the bell.

A smile grew on Don's face. He took the other man's hand and shook it. "Jettis! Cadet Jettis Jyur! And you!" he turned to look at Ida. "My goodness! She was a pup!" He kneeled down to pat the doggy. "I am so glad to see!" He looked up at Jettis. "Wow. The odds of us meeting up!"

He got back up on his feet. "You a new recruit! WOW! You look great!" he exclaimed.

Jettis' confusion only multiplied tenfold as this interaction went on. Brow furrowing, he desperately racked his brain to match the face to a name. Or a location. Or hell, he'd settle for an idea. Suddenly, something just clicked. He knew Ida.

"Addams?" He asked tentatively, squinting as if there was no possible way for that to be him. After all this time, would they have, by chance gotten assigned to the exact same ship? "Don, was it?" He was still tentative, maybe he had this totally wrong, and there wasn't even a family resemblance. "What are the odds indeed? How's the Disco treating you?"

"Oh Discovery and I are getting well," he replied. Then he looked the El-Aurian over one more time. "You won't believe how amazing this ship is Jetty! The crew here is amazing. And you know what! You will like the Captain. He's a scientist himself."

He patted the man on the shoulder. "You know we keep Martha here as well," he said. "Let me show you."

In the shuttle bay there was Type-9 Shuttlecraft. Which was named Valentina Tereshkova, a Danube class Runabout, and two M1A Sphinxs. Then the Eagle freighter. "There is Martha who earned herself to be part of the crew. Lek, the Chief of Engineer first had issues with her. I think he still has a problem cause she is ancient. However, I differ she well experience."

Two Flight officers was walking by as they going to Holodeck."Hello Chief!" Bok-Char said. A bolian who was about to start talking but the female pilot Malloy pulled along.

"I am head of Flight," he shared.

"I am married too and she is amazing, Jetty. You like her. She would like you as well. She is beautiful and smartest person I ever."

"So come along! Lets go have a drink. And I can show you around if you want!" he was smiling ear to ear.

Jettis quickly got swept up in Don's contagious glee. "I'm glad to hear-" He immediately got interrupted, as Don offered to show him around the ship. A very kind and sweet gesture.. if Jettis had not already been stationed on this ship before. The El-Aurian opened his mouth to correct the man, but already Don was on the next topic.

Dragged into the shuttlebbay, Jettis looked the ship Don motioned to up and down. He had to admit, he wasn't familiar with this shuttle. Was it new, or had he simply forgotten over the years? He didn't have time to ponder it, before a voice piped up.
"Hello Chief!" For a moment Jettis furrowed his brow, before realizing the voice was directed to Addams. A slight smile graced his lips. Addams was the Chief? He deserved it, that he was sure of. A soften look crossed his face, as another thought occurred to him. Parting his lips, he tried to ask another question.
"Engineer Lek? Is he.." Again he trailed off, as Don proceeded about his wife. Eyes lighting up, he smiled and nodded, question still on the tip of his tongue. But in Don's sheer excitement, he couldn't get a word in edgewise.

At last, as Don invited him to drinks, he got his chance. "Well chief, I'm afraid I'll pass on the showing around - I was stationed on the Discovery for years before I got reassigned. I've been around, even managed XO. But, I will wholeheartedly take you up on drinks." An equally contagious smile spread across his face. "But first, I have to drop this one," looking down at Ida, he scratched her head as she obediently sat between his legs, "off at my quarters. I also must pick my Daughter up. Theresa, is it alright if I bring her with me? I'd love to meet your wife as well, if she's willing to come." With a short whistle, Ida stood to attention, looking at Jett for commands. Awaiting Don's response, Jettis hoped dearly no crisis would occur to drag him away. In all his years he hadn't had very good luck when it came to going out for a drink with coworkers.

XO position that Jettis had. Don would not mind having a go at that position. There be more responsible. He had to wait and see for the future.

"Well. What about this we meet up at the Forward lounge," he offered. Jetty has a daughter. He would not dare ask how old. If she was extremely young that would possible bring more sadness to his wife. "We will meet you there...in what 15 fifteen minutes?" he said.

Don had left to the Addams quarters. The one thing he was going to do lie to Jettis. He was going to play safe by not inviting his wife too. He could easy go on the Starfleet Data base of the Discovery to see what age Jettis kid was.

No. He felt he was going to lie to his own wife if she was in their quarters. Lying to his wife and good friend was not what he ever dream. This was more protecting his wife's feelings. He would do anything for her.

So he had walked in the quarters to see that Torra was not there. Now if he truly wanted his wife to come along he could call her on the combadge. But he won't. Technically he was going to lie once not twice. The truth would be he was sinning twice.

Then he went to check himself in the mirror to see he was decent looking. The hair was his thing. Everything looked fine. Then he headed to the forward lounge.

[Forward Lounge]

Being first was not a surprise for Don. After all Jettis had a kid to pick up. So he figured he had to change the diaper or do whatever a father does to get their kid moving.

Don had decided to wait for Jettis before he got himself a drink. He saw the dart board on the wall, grabbed some darts and decided to give it a go. He was okay. He hits the board but it was more like random and lucky shots and he had not got a bull's eye. That would be more like a super duper lucky shot. He was a officer and a pilot not a dart pro-player.

Jettis gave a soft smile, as Don agreed to meet up again. "Sounds perfect to me. It should only take about that long." With a sly smirk, he offered the man a light salute, "I'll see you in a minute, Chief." With that, he barked a quick 'heel to Ida. Quickly the dog snapped to his side, and they proceeded down the hallway to the turbolift. Now, the stares and glares seemed less daunting, as he proceeded back to his quarters.
He was quickly met with the eager face of his daughter, as Jettis strode in with his dog in tow.

"Ida! Daddy!" The supersonic frequency of her squeal elicited a head tilt from Ida, and a furrowed brow from Jettis. Theresa, however, was oblivious to these looks, as she dropped to her knees, waving her arms. "Come girl, c'mere!" Ida wasted no time in trotting over to her, covering her in kisses, before sitting on her lap. A comical sight, given that Ida was bigger than Theresa was, almost bowling her over.
"Alright, alright enough," Jett said with a light chuckle. "We gotta get you ready, we're going to Six Forward."

Theresa seemed to scrunch her nose at this, hesitating. A quiet 'alright' was her response, as she retreated to her room, presumably to change into her starfleet casual wear.
Jettis himself retreated to his room, to check himself in the mirror. Quickly slicking back his hair and brushing off his uniform, he saw no other reason to change. Locking eyes with himself in the mirror, he watched as everything slowly blurred out. Mind drifting, he wondered how this meeting would go. Although he'd met this man before, it had been so long since they had seen each other - and even when they had, it wasn't like they were close friends, merely acquaintances. Had he agreed to a meal with a total stranger?

Forcing his mind back, he tried desperately to refocus his eyes. Gripping the chair in front of his mirror, he hissed in a short breath, trying to break out of his trance.  At last the fuzziness went away, and the anxiety sickness swelled inside him. It was fine. It was just a drink. Nothing to panic over.
Composing himself, he took a deep breath, a shock shooting through his chest and his heart. He could do this - if for nothing else, to help Theresa not follow down the same path of anxiety.

Speaking of Resa, where was she? Usually she was quite capable and self sufficient. Gone were those bonding times of Jettis helping her get ready for the day. Now, only rarely did he have to help her with her hair, or tying a tie or bow. Straightening up, Jett nervously shifted his collar, before looking back over his shoulder.
"Reese?"

His call rang empty, as no reply came. A frown flitting across his face, he turned on his heel, approaching Theresa's quarters. "Baby?" A soft knock would come at the door, as he pressed his ear against the metal. He was met with a soft crying, that made his heart stop.

"Computer, open the door," he hissed, before stepping in, eyes scanning for his daughter. And there she sat, next to her vanity on the floor, crying softly. Instantly going over to her, Jettis scooped her up in his arms, giving a tight squeeze. There was silence for a moment, as he let her just cry. The low level empathetic connection between Father and Daughter swelled, as all her emotions poured out for him to feel. Hopelessness. Lost. Despair. Homeless.

The last one hit him hard, as he tried his best to provide absolutely everything she needed. And she seemed to be doing so well, but he knew from experience that every transfer shook you up more than the last. As a kid, ship transfers were terrible. All the new faces, not the same kind faces you knew when you were younger. She had come to love everybody at the Starbase, and even progressing back to her outgoing nature. But now?

"What's wrong, lieblings?" Her sobs subsided a bit, sniffling and trying to speak through the tears. A lot of time went past, more sniffling and snotting, until she finally managed to force the quiet words out-

"I miss Mommy."

Jettis' jaw tensed, and he held her even tighter. It had been 3 years since she had seen her mother. After shipping Theresa off to live with Jett, she seemed to avoid every single opportunity to see her daughter and former husband. They had been close enough to take a quick shuttle back to Earth, but Alani had declined, claiming school was so busy she just didn't have the time. Didn't have the time to see her daughter. Jettis, already was fearing for what would happen when Alani graduated, but tried to stay strong. Would he have to give up seeing his daughter? That was his worst fear, but he knew that Theresa missed her mother so much. It would be selfish and wrong to force her to stay  in a place she doesn't want. Or would Alani reject her? Send her off without so much as a goodbye, and disappear off the radar? Sure, Jettis would get to keep his precious daughter, but Theresa would be so crushed - even the ship's counsellor couldn't fix that emotional damage.

Words danced on the tip of his tongue. Lie, or tell the truth? Maybe a half truth would be best. But she was a smart girl, she could detect the deception, and most likely spot the lie as well. "I know baby. I know. Only one more year, and Mommy will be done with school." Good. No lying or deception, purely the truth. hugging her tighter, Jettis planted a light kiss on her forehead. "All graduated and grown up. And then we should be able to meet up with her, huh?"

Lightly tilting her chin up, he wiped away her tears, as the hiccuping cries subsided. "And until then, you can show Mommy what a mature girl you are alright? She'll be so proud of you." A lie, he internally whispered to himself. Heart constricting, he pulled his lips taut. God, he hoped she would be proud of her daughter. Just out of human decency - it seemed like he was the more human one in the relationship. Sniffling, Theresa locked eyes with Jett. Those same big, beautiful teal eyes that Jett possessed, he had passed on.

"Do you promise you'll never leave me?" God, there was those heart palpitations again. If he didn't know better, he would call the medical officer to come take him down by now. The physical pain in his chest as his heart skipped several beats. She was questioning if he would leave her?

"Of course my love. I promise I'll never leave you. " It was at this moment Jettis knew she knew. There was a chance Alani was never coming back for her. And that even if she did, it might not be for ethe best. Now the healing began. "I will never, ever leave you, ok? Aside from work, you can come wherever I'm going, ok? Just to make sure I'm not leaving."
This ellicited a small nod from her, and he smiled.Standing up, he gently sett her on her feet, patting her on the head.
"Mommy usually did my hair. Can you do it daddy?" A bittersweet, pressed smile crossed his face. "Of course." Smiling, he motioned for her to turn around, before beginning a basic braid.

[USS Discovery - Forward Lounge]

After awhile, Jettis and Theresa finally arrived at the lounge. Theresa had dried her tears, although the red eyes still remained, and Jettis had a slightly wrinkled shirt, and barely noticable tearstains on his shoulder. He himself had slightly red eyes, but an easily wave off appearance, with excuses like "oh, allergies" or "oh, I just dusted the jeffries".
Eyes scanning the crowd until he landed on a familiar figure. Striding over, his hand firmly grasped Theresa's, to a noticeable amount.

"Sorry we took a little bit longer. Had to get Theresa all ready." A light, airy smile spread across his face, motioning to his daughter. "Theresa, introduce yourself, please."

Quickly Theresa smiled. Imperceptible to anyone looking with the eyes, but anyone sensing could still feel her grief at the realization of her mother. Still though, the young girl held out her hand, with a beaming smile. The resemblance to Jettis was uncanny - the bright teal, ocean eyes, the hair color and slight wave, the face shape and strong jaw, easily all Jett's features. If you didn't know Alani, you'd believe Theresa looked most like Jettis. However, most will not meet her, and nobody on this ship knew her anyways, so the likelihood was slim of recognition.

"Hello, nice to meet you sir. My name is Theresa Jyur, you can call me Reese." Retracting her hand, perhaps a little too quickly... She clasped her hands together and swing quietly, looking up to her father. Motioning to a table, Jettis decided to wait out this game. "Shall we get to the drinks?"

Don had saw Jettis appear with a attractive young lady on his side. She had resemblance of Jettis. Like a young female version of him.

Don got up to meet them both. He smiled. "It is an honor meeting you miss Reese," he said. Reese was what like nine years old or near early teens. This was not what he expected. Still it was Jettis daughter. A child. Would this make his wife sad cause Jettis has a daughter? He was unsure. He wished he had an honor to have a child to share to the world saying this is my son or daughter. The pride would be fun too. That what he could see in Jettis' eyes.

"Jettis, Reese is a spitting image of you," he shared. He gestured the table with his hand to the table.  To see they will take a seat. "She is attractive young lady. You might want to alert security to keep an eye on her."

[USS Discovery - Forward Lounge]

A smile passed over Jettis' face, nodding lightly. "Believe me, I get that a lot," he chuckled, eyes sparkling. "Too bad for her, hm?" he quipped. Placing a hand on Theresa's shoulder, his mild smile reached his eyes, crinkling at the edges.

"Oh, I know. If she's half the troublemaker I was in my teen years.." He gave another light chuckle, patting her on the head, before leading her over to an unoccupied table. "..I'll have my work cut out for me." Theresa, for all her credit blew out a huff, puffing her cheeks out before deflating them.

"A few more years to go for that," she mumbled, scrunching her nose. Clasping her hands together underneath the table, inquisitive eyes looked between Jettis and Don, quiet. She felt the exact same discomfort Jettis did - a slight... feeling, some empathic current that unsettled the young girl. But, then again they were aboard a Starship, in one of the busiest spots on said Starship.
"What about you? Wife, kids, pets? How long have you been aboard the Discovery for?" The questions were asked with honest intent, totally unaware of the can of worms that would be opened when asking about family. Leaning forward inquisitively, he gave Don a smile, and waited on his response.

Don had enjoy watching a father looking over his own daughter like it was his prize of life. If Don was in his associate slash friend's shoes he too would be hovering over his only daughter.

"I am happily married. Romantic last proposal. Captain Tekin had self destruct and the last few minutes. I did not want to die alone. So my wife got married before self destruct. Which did not happened," he told.

"Kids. No. We had not gotten there," he had not lied. It was a white lie. The man's deep brown eyes had shown he was not being all honest about it. If someone decided to put their nose in try to find if that was true. Nobody knew. Only three people on the Discovery knows and one on Katra. He was not all sure on that fact now since the Wanderer's nearly winning the fight against Starfleet. That sub conscious space would had open the mind into Torra's or Don's or Luby's minds and Beja's mind on the Katra.

"Pets. We have a foul mouth talking bird name 'Happy'. I swears like a Pirate. I have two pet rocks," he chuckled. "I started collecting rocks on missions we have on planets. Just like a souvenirs. There are four mice in Science lab," Don shared.

How many years was he on the Discovery. "You know I never paid attention to that. I see the Discovery as my new home. Cause when you saw me I was NOT in Starfleet."

This was a good time for a story so folks would know the story of how crazy Addams got on the Discovery. "Before I join re-join Starfleet I was smuggler. I was on a job with Martha. The ship in our cargo bay. I had made enough money to fix my space racing 'Flaming Addams' when I had decided to go on my own away from the Smuggling group I was. I was drawn in by a planet gravitional field which I end up crashing and losing my ship." He sighed. "I truly miss her. That itself have a story to tell. For another time."

"The Discovery was around the area and Captain Tekin had saved my butt. He had allowed me on his ship as a guest. Next thing which I had not planned. I was planning to stay as a free lancer. And next thing you know I am in this uniform. And married," he looked down.

"So if anyone ask if I am a pirate or a anything illegal before I re-join those are rumors. Just in case they ask," he said.

"Now about you two. Are you planning to join Starfleet Reese and follow your dad's footsteps," he gave Mister Jyur a side look. "Science officer. I am not sure what your degree in Science is."

Jettis Jyur

Jettis chuckled as Don proceeded to recount the last few years. "What a proposal! I'll have to take some notes from you." It would certainly be memorable, and a story to tell for the ages.

However, his next words were much less cheery, and clearly the cause of the dampened mood. Jettis locked eyes with him for a moment, weighing his options. He could push the subject - sometimes we needed someone to show they were interested, before we talked about it. On the other had, asking about it could be the worst possible response, and instantly damage the budding friendship, before it had even blossomed. Running his tongue over his teeth, he glanced down at Theresa. The story also may not be appropriate for his daughter either - she was only eleven after all. Eyes turning back to Don, he resolved to leave it for now, but perhaps bring it up another time over drinks, at a less crowded time.

"That's a lot of pets. Birds are some of the best pets, in my opinion. Highly intelligent and great for companionship."
"But not as good as Ida!" Theresa chipped in cheerfully, eyes shining. Jettis chuckled.
"No, of course not."

Don proceeded to talk about his time before Starfleet. Smirking, he thought the story sounded very similar to his own years before Starfleet. Except his savior was his brother. It reminded him he needed to call him very soon, tell him he was back on the ship where it all started. Schatzi, however, had been transferred off years ago - three if he recalled correctly. Such a shame, it would have been nice for Theresa to meet her uncle for the first time in years.

When Don turned the questions around to them, Jettis glanced subtly down to Theresa. The girls cheek flushed, as she tried to think of an adequate answer. Giving her a soft smile, he decided to answer first to give her time to think.
"I have degrees in Quantum Physics and Xenolinguistics." He answered, turning back to Addams. "I entered Starfleet just with Quantum Physics, but languages have always interested me, I couldn't help but go back to specialize in that. There's a strange shortage of Linguists in the Federation." He gave a slight shrug, looking back at Theresa.

"I don't know what I want to do yet. I don't think I want to be an officer." The girl shyly admitted, shooting a quick, cautious look at her father. Most parents might be deeply disappointed at this news, wanting their kids to follow in their footsteps. Jettis, however looked entirely neutral. He knew the feeling - he had grown up in a Starfleet family, but it took him over 200 years to finally join. He could find no fault with Theresa taking her time to decide.

"I might try to become a scientist on Earth." She added, cheering up a bit at the lack of a bad reaction.
"She loves working with animals. Maybe being a vet is in her future." Jettis murmured, sitting back and looking at his daughter with love.
